I woke up to this album every Saturday. It was impossible to sleep during these songs the bass lines are captivating. The lyrics are fun to sing to the skill these brothers had to compose this is truly remarkable. I will play this for my kids hoping they will enjoy this as much as I did

Funkadelic were way out there and way ahead of their time. Their early stuff fused psychedelic with funk beautifully and their late 70s stuff was pure alien dance funk. Some of the most complex bass and guitar playing married to fiendishly funky freakishness and utter zaniness. some great keyboard work also

Thanks for your comment GozerThe Gozerian. Earth, Wind and Fire is my all time favorite group. But I wouldn't categorize them as dance music. They don't really fall into any category. Brothers Johnson was really funk and without Quincy Jones there careers went back to studio musicians. However you are very correct with Chic. I was really calling out repetitive mindless efforts with overabundant string backup like Silver Connection or Andrea True.
Rescuing Dance music from the blahs was right! Disco was destroying creative Black music. One of the greatest funk albums ever from cover to cover. Phillippe added a real jazz/skat element that added to its uniqueness. like a Funky Al Jarreau!
