Funkadelic - The Electric Spanking Of War Babies Lyrics

Hi there (Hi, are you talking to me? What is that?)
You probably don't remember me, right? (No, I don't remember you)
Ah-ha, but I remember you (What's that? I don't?)

You probably won't believe this, but, uh
I, at the early age of seventeen
Was adopted by aliens
Was adopted by aliens

That's right, I said aliens
They have long since programmed me
To return with this message

When you learn to dance
You won't forget it
Ooh, when you learn to dance
You won't forget it

When you learn to dance
You won't forget it
When you learn to dance
You won't forget it

You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet

You stand a chance
You can dance
You stand a chance
You can dance

It's shocking to find
(Sock it to the circuit)
That your mind
(Sock it to the circuit)
And your behind
(Sock it to the circuit)
Gets a spanking in time

Sock it to the circuit
Dead it in addition
We compute a perfect funk

You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet

It's a bummer to find that your mind
And your behind gets exploded in time

The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies

Oh, it's shocking to find
That your mind and your behind
Will get a spanking in due time

You've seen the bomb
Vietnam, LSD You've seen the E?
You've seen DNA
Watch them go to the moon, live on TV

Sock it to the circuit
We compute a perfect funk
In the digital
(We compute a perfect funk)

It's shocking to find
That your mind, like your behind
Gets a spanking in time

You've seen the bomb
Vietnam, LSD You've seen the E?
You've seen DNA
Watch them go to the moon, live on TV
The electric spanking of war babies

Sock it to the circuit, in the digital
We compute a perfect funk

The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies

We compute a perfect funk
We compute a perfect funk

The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies

The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies

mightyblack1 he did but earner brothers bought Rogers album under uncle jam out and put it out on their label causing bad blood between George and cbs

  33. c.... e....

George had to evolve he tried being normal with doowop and the Motown sound berry told George funk you so George heard the Beatles, Hendrix, cream, and sly and said I can do that too then after the rock thing played out George decided to get into space operas and concepts George had the foresight to evolve then George decided to evolve again into techno, electronica, new wave then hip hop no matter what George did he did it his way

Parliament-Tunkadelic is what it is because of P-Funk.Not psychedelic rock the guys tasted that and they moved on.How original was Funkadelic as a rock band? The P-Funk is what set the world on fire and deal with it.U wanted Funkadelic to stay an average rock band .A lot of the comments on U-Tube make me so sick. And this is why "Black Lives Matter:" Why can"t the ghetto inspire great things?

    f.... ....

fesslink bless us with more of your knowledge you have my ear....

  71. A.... N....

WHY WAS THIS THE LAST FUNKADELIC RELEASE ON WARNER BROS RECORDS? WORD AROUND THE CAMPFIRE WAS GEORGE CLINTON GOT PISSED AT WARNER BROS BECAUSE THEY SIGNED ROGER TROUTMAN TO DO HIS 1981 SOLO RELEASE THE MANY FACETS OF ROGER AT A HIGHER DOLLAR, WHILE GEORGE THOUGHT HE AND ROGER HAD A DEAL TO RECORD HIS SOLO DEBUT ON GEORGE CLINTON'S ILL FATED, UNCLE JAM RECORDS, WHICH WERE UNDER LICENSE TO COLUMBIA RECORDS AT THAT TIME.

    A.... N....

hey dashan    George wanted this to be a double album at the time warners wasn't trying to put out the cash to promote it
plus they had roger and zapp to make money with and  archie  ivy said things were getting funky at warners( ,non  promotion of funkadelic)   plus radio didn't jump on this song like before, I was working at a thriftys drug store  in Beverly hills and  use too always see  sly stone,  archie ivy, and debra lett, ne ne montes, and would ask them about next p funk projects and record labels release date ,they gave me a new funk times  paper and a uncle jam pin       sly had this big mansion  with no furniture.....

    A.... N....

@donthewatcher Plus he didn't record it at their usual studio, thus it lacked a fat bottom.

    A.... N....

    +DASHAN WHEELER u r correct....

  79. d.... ....

I REALLY DON'T EVEN COMPARE Funkadelic with Parliament Funkadelic at all. Funkadelics first 3 albums are iconic acid rock with Eddie Hazel at his psychedelic best and the music was more serious and less "Rubber Band" and I just can't get into it like I can with Funkadelic, its a little too POP art and goofy although played at the genre's highest level. But, when I listen to Maggot Brain I hear an Iconic album, and a definite must have for greatest rock albums collection.

    d.... ....

I agree the first 3 albums hooked me, but I was able to find gems on almost every album that they made as either rendition of the group.

    d.... ....

@don johnson Me I'm more inclined toward the P cause of my new wave roots. Some like fuzz, some like clean, but with both it was always complex and deep on some level. Maybe you came to them through classic rock?

    d.... ....

@Alex Diamond No actually as a child of the 70-80's..new wave was in my blood..I was a huge Cure fan, New Order..etc. No..I just prefer the raw psychedelic edge of Eddie Hazel's guitar..Maggot Brain was a work of crazy magic..the P Funk era had it's moments, but I found it a bit too commercial, enjoyable, but mainstream.

    d.... ....

@deprogrammer In my opinion the really creative genius was Bernie Worrel and his keyboard wizardry.  He actually has a whole group of synthesized sounds that are attributed solely to him.  One such example is the bassline to Flashlight the most Iconic Funk Jam ever.   Speaking of Funk  P-Funk is in  my opinion  what Parlifunkadelicment was all about.  P-funk was their Monalisa.  It represented the pinnacle  of a evolution of their trial and error starting with Do Wop, then soul, R&B and Rock and Roll.  But  they climaxed to their perfection in the creation P-funk.  So it is okay if you like rock and  so you gravitate to the rock elements or if you were into psychedelic music and you like their brand of trippy mind bending elements in the music like aliens and getting high.  |Or even the raw dog ghettofied pimpishness of their approach to sexual topics.  In the final analysis  if you was not into Parliament or Funkadelic because of the P-funk, if you did not want to shake you ass and bob your head to that funky groove then you have missed the point in my opinion.  Because it was all about the Funk. And my favorite Jam is Funkenteleky

    d.... ....

+deprogrammer Now you like myself r a real FUNKADELIC fan. I totally agree with you Parliament got a little to poppy for my taste (disco and radio play were the culprits). The Funkadelic was more of and underground band only truly funky folk and rockers got into them. Your comments r on point

  80. R.... S....

Memories of the days of Live Parliament/ Funkadelic...Phenomenal!

  81. W.... S....

    Perfect funk!!

    W.... S....

  83. A.... ....

Sweet, thought I was the only one who'd think of this song, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to George about 1993 in a mall in Mi. He had just finished working with Prince on some tunes on Graffiti Bridge. Long live George the Master of Funk!!!

    A.... ....

    grafitti bridge was 89

  84. J.... K....

I really just depends on where you take them...

  85. E.... R....

It's been a while since I heard this..Funk music was so much fun to dance to..

  86. H.... L....

If you really (I mean really) listen to the words of this song. Clinton was, is, and always been way ahead of his time. Look past all the stuff and hear the message. He's very deep. To deep for the system. That's why this one and a few others didn't get air play. We hear ya Dr. Funkenstein!!! No maggots in this brain.

    H.... L....

Hitt Largeman thank you very much, he puts right out there, got to pay attention.

  87. S.... ....

You can walk a mile in my shoes... but you can't dance a step in my feet! I love that!

  92. S.... M....

I dont' think they knew where they were going with this one. But it was the end of the P-Funk era. The last album under the name "Funkadelic". It was a big fight over the album cover, I read where someone said "The wheels were falling off". but this is a great album tho.

  93. S.... M....

    Love this.

  94. O.... ....

"U can walk a mile in my shoes, but U can't dance a step in my feet." A response to the departure of Fuzzy/Calvin/Grady & the lawsuit allowing them to release the album "Connections & Disconnections" under the name "Funkadelic."
"It's shocking to find that your mind—like your behind—gets us spanking in time."
The war babies (US children born between WW2 & Korean war) are being mentally spanked by electric means (the media & technology).
We've seen the bomb, Vietnam, LSD
    Let's see the P (-funk)

  95. T.... ....

This is the end product of what George Clinton & his boys put down after smokin' a couple of acid tainted blunts...Chucklin'...

  96. G.... B....

    It's pretty, pretty, pretty good!

  97. A.... N....

CATCHY GROOVE, I LIKE THE CHORD ARRANGEMENT, SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING EARTH WIND AND FIRE WAS INTO AT THIS TIME, BUT FROM A LYRICAL STANDPOINT I DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY WERE GOING WITH THIS SONG.
