Funkadelic - Eulogy And Light Lyrics
Our father
Which art on Wall Street
Honored be thy buck
Thy kingdom came
This be thy year
Thou givest me false pride
Funked down by the riverside
From every head and ass
May dollars flow
Give us this pay
Our daily bread
Forgive us our goofs
As we rob from each other
For thou art evil
And we adore thee
Thy destruction and thy power
They comfort me
My Cadillac and my pinky ring
They restoreth me in thee
Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of poverty
I must feel their envy
For I am loaded, high and all those other goodies
That go along with the good god big buck
To young whores
In muck grows there
Ahead in time
The unexpected soul-searching beam of the strobe
But now, the stairway looms
And as I rise
The cries of kittens, gray, make way
For there, now near
Here now, gone, alone
I feel my wrist, it flicks the switch
No lights reveal the room or me
She sees, then panics, grabs a light
I scream, silent comforts that are not heard
I panic, for I have not said a word
Hysteria hold the room in sway
I run, I back away, to hide
From what?
From fear?
The truth, the light?
Is truth the light?

Funkadelic Eulogy And Light Comments
This song will either get you saved or scare the crap outta you, or both! So ahead of its time! Peace!
the images ruin it
Who says a Rock band can't sample ,had George did more of this hip hop ,rap would been around 10yrs early is truth the what ?is this what made what you hear today clone on George
Yes, there is a subliminal message on this track, but that message is Open Our Eyes. Is truth the light?
George Clinton Really sound here like THE TEMPTATIONS ON A LSD BAD TRIP
its funny how you play something backwards and some morons freak out.
The song being played backwards is "Open Our Eyes". It was a cover of the gospel standard and was the original B-side of "I'll Bet You". "Open Our Eyes" didn't appear on a Funkadelic album or collection until 1993's _Music for Your Mother: Funkadelic 45s_.
The backwards spoken bit at the end is the recording engineer telling George "You're on five" (track five of the multi-track tape).
They saying gunshots
Um...no, they're not.
After reading your other comments on this video, I've come to the conclusion that you need psychiatric help ASAP.
They were called,"THE Gospel Clefs", somewhere in the mid to. late 50's. Check it out on YouTube! Then hit me with the 1 and then.
At the end George said gunshots twice and they backmasked it plus its a warning about Thr dark side which is why George refuses the light and chooses the dark side George and the group made their choices
Fitting funeral For the New World Odor ...
Yes the process church was into god and satan and funkadeluc was involved in it george said took part in the satanic sex orgies which explaons why the westbound funkadelic album was dark as hell
Funkadelic was hanging around the process church at tje time geore was looking for an edge and trying to create controversy people was scared of funkadelic back then plus georges wild antics stripping chasing girls with a hardbon, coming out of coffins, giving.women oral sex pouring wine down his chest running on stage folks remember george mooning berry gordy telling hom to kiss his ass you didnt sign me kiss my ass george said he was too high to remember that but he emember berry and running on the table witj wine dripping off his nuts
people are so forgiving to the plutocrats big banks needs to pay back..... or put these fools in jail if you did what they did you'll be locked up for real 🌎i see y'all scared
what is that last sequence with the satanic ritual from? Its intense.
@read1mod It's from "Altered States" it's a Stanley Kubrick film which might explain its intensity
@Da Grym Reefer wow thanks.I saw that movie when it came out when I was a kid-I dont remember that scene at all!Im going to have to watch it again thanks!!!
@Da Grym Reefer first off Altered States is a Ken Russell film not a Stanley Kubrick film...secondly,it came out 10 years after this album...
@Marcus Morgan he made the video it has nothing to do withy the album (????)
@read1mod yeah, initially I thought he was referring to the vocal sequence at the end of the album...my mistake...yes the film is Altered States in the video but it was directed by Ken Russell not Kubrick which is why I commented to begin with...anyway,great song great movie...carry on
A Monument To Cummulative Culture.
Thank you for sharing, sir
This is deep. One of The Most Creative Groups if All Time. Try America Eats Its Young and Maggot Brain. Lyrically and musically, they are unique.
I was 14 when this first came out in 1971 and we play this track all the time back then. Your video really hit the mark on what we imagined were the visuals to the words George Clinton was saying. that's for the post and the video, Thanks!
More relevant now then ever. This was recorded fucking 42 years ago. Hail Funkadelic! Hail my master Eddy Hazel R.I.P.
fuckin awesome video
more importantly, he was a prophet
the message the message
@DaGrymReefer Thanks. I'm sure I will. :)
@DaGrymReefer Nothin' much man. :)
One guy thinks this song is a result of the Illuminati. Bitch ass lol
Ayo! He ain't got no mo Doo-Doo, and He ain't got no mo SHIT 💩!
Excellent video to this funkadelic classic! Lyrics more relevant today even...
FUNK down by the riverside!
unlike "free your mind" where the song takes you to the edge of panic & back, THIS song takes you to the edge of panic & drops you off!
@DaGrymReefer thnx for the clarity.
This shit is backwards!! This is wierd, and i wonder what he's saying backwards!
@fabioz91 I believe Funkadelic did a great job of highlighting the fact that there can't be highs without lows, good without evil, truth without lies, fact without fiction. I believe that everyone has a good and evil within them. In the universe there is matter and antimatter. Electicity would not work without a positive and a negative. In order to be truely enlightened, one must embrace both good and evil because, without evil, how can we distinct what is good? Great video DaGrymReefer!!
This is fucking genius.
@DaGrymReefer
Miss Lucifer's love
She's the devil, and I like it
Don't you know she really grooves me
When she come
I'll be there to meet her
When she come
I'll drink from her unholy fountain
it makes somehow sense...but does it?
TELL ME ANYBODY: tell me. what is this song all about? it sounds to me like "believe in god, that its still possible", but what about funkadelics song "miss lucifer's love"? what is this combo all about? anybady wanna tell me that what it is all about! i think that funkadelic is the best band ever, but i cant listen to them if they are somehow worshipping lucifer.
Great video and choice of song! This song must have had a huge influence on Pac as he did a few tracks in a similar manner with his voice slowed/deepened.
Just an amazing mind altering tune. Oh to be a fly on the wall in the studio when Funkadelic/Parliament was creating these masterpieces....
you hit
@DaGrymReefer Yea I already know. Knowing that just makes me love the album even more than I already do.
I'm pretty sure this is "Open Our Eyes" backtracked.
I agree, this is beautiful. Long live George Clinton and P-Funk.
beautiful
