Fugazi - Blueprint Lyrics

I'm not playing with you,
I'm not playing with you,
I'm not playing with you,
I clean forgot how to play.
But you can still come around,
In fact I invite you down,
Maybe together we can wipe that smile off your face.
'Cause what a difference, what a difference, what a difference
A little difference would make.
We'll draw a blueprint, it must be easy,
It's just a matter of knowing when to say no or yes.
Frustrating, frustrating, always waiting for the bigger axe to fall.
A patient game that I can't find my way to play.
Never mind what's been selling,
It's what you're buying
and receiving undefiled.

Ian MacKaye, pronoounced Muh-kai. It has a long "i" w/ its second syllable sounding much like Tai or tie.

Often mispronounced Muh-K. Similiar to the word hay.

  26. t.... b....

First time heard this song in "Head First" BMX movie by Mat Hoffman, who is btw huge fan of Fugazi and DC hardcore scene and friend with Ian too. I am glad that Riding BMX gave me best experiences not only on bike but also in music taste and brough me to playing bassguitar in a band.

  27. B.... B....

  35. e.... ....

I listen to this and I hear the glam rock elements fly right by most people, the swagger of the 80s is still present in this. Sort of like acdc. IT has anthems for sure. But then it also has post punk and new wave elements, it synthesized all of what was going around into something different. I hate how Guy is tagged with emo yet he seems about as swaggering as any metal guy from the same era, just without the leather pants, long hair and makeup. I've read in many places that he didn't like the tag as it often was hurled in a derisive manner. If anything maybe emo it maybe the ones dressed up in makeup and big hair, lol!!! Like ACDC they never really wrote a ballad...which seems to me the most emo thing of all to do. Nearly every song is a fireburner with explosive and powerful crescendos and decrescendos....much like Rites of Spring in terms of classical music goes not just the post punk name he swiped from Stravinsky! In terms of Spengleresque thinking...yeah I would also prefer to live in the Spring stage of that cycle of history as well. IN a sense post WW2 and the almost total destruction of the west one might say we passed through the Winter phase or Fall phase, though according to Spengler these last far longer...but maybe as a result of technology the cycles are now sped up more?

  36. A.... A....

I am a student of music, I love all kinds...but this is seriously one of the most moving pieces of music I have ever experienced.

    A.... A....

Nuro-Cyon, Bellistar, FUC Tower… 28/5/2481… 13:29.Security Operations and Strategy meeting with the FUC executive committee (Nuro-Cyon division), chaired by Stella Anne Harper.Android Parvis Welby (Senior Operations Director) was addressing the attendees, “Field Intelligence have adjusted their procedures… Phase 4, to destabilise employee insurrections, especially in the mining and fabrication sectors. In summary over the last quarter there has been an upsurge in support for the anti-corporate militancy and the anti-governmental anarchists and terrorists… they are becoming far more emboldened with their attacks… We have drafted rigorous counter measures…” Welby was then interrupted.
“I couldn’t care less for anti-government activists… Anyway… I thought we had fully infiltrated all the prominent organisations to the highest level…?” Stella said dismissively.
“Yes Director we have, but it’s a very fluid situation… The dynamics of the terrorists and their leadership shift around… all the time… we have lost many of our best fixed agents either through defection or detection…”
“So…? Increase recruitment… triple your efforts. There are millions of hungry citizens out there, let us tap some of that raw energy…”Stella said.
“Yes Director.” Welby answered passively as he tapped in notes.
“And let us focus… only upon the anti-corporate insurgences now… let the government fend for themselves… Do we not provide enough favour and credit already… ” Stella looked around the table.
    “Yes Director.” The committee agreed.
“I will pacify any dissenting politicians… Er… Do we have any further news on Martha Watkins…? Donna anything?” Stella re-directed her question.
“Yes Director… we have unconfirmed reports that she is being treated for radiation sickness. We are looking into all current and past patient records with related illnesses.” Android Donna Sparks (Senior Special Agent) said.
“Very good… Any other important business before we go through process strategy?”
“Er… Director Harper… cold case… we have solid circumstantial indications that a former internal affairs agent, Maximillian Greaves is possibly here on Nuro Cyon.” Damian Po Xin (Chief Historical Case Officer) said.
“Who is this citizen of interest… explain?” Stella Harper directed her attention to the historical case chief.
“This particular citizen of interest has information that could prove extremely damaging to FUC reputations and interests… We have reason to believe that he is here right now…according to historical records he boarded a freighter with forged I.D.s on Earth fifty years ago heading for Bellistar… the Port-sector…”

  47. s.... ....

Sounds just as awesome today as it did the day it came out. Big respect to Ian MacKaye.

  53. M.... P....

the intro to this song was my first journey beyond bar chords. Hearing the variety while not moving my hand up or down the neck was a very "ah-ha!" moment as a kiddo.

  61. B.... S....

+ScariestMovieEver I think this is how we are all feeling right now.

  62. M.... P....

Am i crazy, or does the intro sound like Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus?

Anyways, this band is great and they should be a lot more known

    M.... P....

+Mihály Ponyiczki Yes, they copied Miley Cyrus.

    M.... P....

    +Ricky X lmao

    M.... P....

It's the 4 chord progression of pop:

  65. S.... S....

I think The Offspring ripped this song off a little. The melody sounds suspiciously similar to Gone Away.

    S.... S....

+Steven Geere but offspring r pigfuckers....

    S.... S....

    @Rotario Rotatti oh really !! I didn't know that. I'm not a big fan of offspring anyways.. But i'm a fugazi's fan..

    S.... S....

well I was singing the main riff this morning and I've discovered that shares the same progression with Mad World from Tears For Fears.

    S.... S....

Queef I mean it kinda sounds like a lot of songs.

    S.... S....

if heard the melody a lot. the intro chords reminded me of Dinosaur Jr.'s "Watch The Corners" for a little while, but the rest of the song is completely different. Pretty common chord progression actually.

  66. s.... ....

had this in the early nineties. listened to it on the city bus a lot to shut out my surroundings.

  67. Z.... P....

    maybe my favorite fugazi song

    Z.... P....

    chorão eterno!

  75. Y.... V....

Would have been nice to have had access to music like we do now back when I was 15.

  76. Y.... V....

Don't know how the hell I missed out on this band. I was born in 1980 so I have no excuse. I didn't realize how cool I never really was until earlier this year. By far the best band I've found that I never listened to from that era. I heard people mention Fugazi but never had money to just spend on CDs of bands I liked much less bands I may or may not have liked.

  77. D.... H....

    Tremendo intro !

  78. Z.... A....

best 5 bucks anyone could have ever spent...

  79. A.... G....

Que buena intro la re puta madre que la re mil pario

  80. S.... ....

A blueprint is something for engineers, and engineers are given problems to solve, and to solve those problems they create blueprints, at first they are rough, but then become clearer after adjustments. A blueprint for helping people will never be there, but you can always imporve it, or what you do for others, and the good resulting from a small change could be huge.

"what a difference a little difference would make"

  81. s.... ....

listened to this tape till i broke it. love the raw sound like you're in the room and their just jamming.

  82. N.... D....

One of the best yankee bands ever.

  83. R.... R....

Fugazi could have easily sold out to sell out arenas, but they were better than that.

  84. m.... ....

gotta say this is one of those tape trades i'll never forget . i had 2 Vacant Andys demos copied onto one tape - The Days are Numbered and Slam Manual - anyways i traded that awesome demo for this brilliant rock and roll tape- i always think of fugazi as rocking band with punk rock and jazz moments - not this indie or post rock genre everyone seems to group them with.

  85. T.... M....

what the hell does that have to do with the song

  86. A.... ....

What a difference... a little difference would make.

  87. R.... ....

I don't care about whats been selling....I care about what I'm buying and receiving it undefiled....

  88. E.... W....

I'm an overweight, greasy haired underachieving nerd with a stammer and yet I still feel like an absolutely massive badass when that outtro comes.

  89. N.... ....

Best US punk band ever, scrap that, best punk band ever - remained true to their ideals throughout.

  90. c.... ....

    still stirs the soul.

  91. K.... J....

this song is SOO hot. as a chick, seriously, fugazi gets you in the mood. firreal dudes.

  92. p.... ....

    Fucking beautiful man.

  93. c.... ....

Havent listened to this track in a while----Wow!

  94. M.... ....

This song took my soul's virginity. In the best possible way.

  95. G.... ....

i dont write music i dont play in a band, i play my acoustic and this song inspired so many of my songs, the riff is endless

  96. B.... M....

    One of my Favorites!!!

  97. A.... ....

    Great song.
