Best Fu Manchu album.

I see the Fu as crossing pretty much most genre barriers in rock, but Scott Hill is my pick for number one punk vocalist. More machismo in one finger than *everybody* else.

This album is only really worth listening to for Mongoose, but boi is it worth it...

Me encanta esta banda. Mi sueño es formar un grupo así pesado y cool

Era mi sueño también, pero nunca encontré nadie que entendía el rollo...

For me this record is their low point in their career. It's famous for it's absence of their heavy fuzz sound and that's the main problem for me. This record could be part of a cheesy teenager party movie like "American Pie" next to Pop-Punk like Blink 182 etc. "California Crossing" got a clean radio friendly Hardrock sound. No dirty Stoner Rock. If you take "In Search Of..." and compare it to "California Crossing" you know what I mean... That one got that greedy dirty fuzz sound and wah wah solos. The production of their 90s records sounded also way rawer which made them even dirtier. "California Crossing" sounds too clean and mainstream appealing for me.

That's fair. It's not stoner music. This doesn't sound any better when you're high. But I think their songwriting is best on this album. And it's how I got into the band.

Just because it's not stoner doesn't have to mean it's not good. I enjoy many of the songs on this album even though i think In Serch Of... is their best one by far.

No doubt although the "apocalypse" for me was Ape Hangers. Of course, all of the album is one my top 2 from Fu.

Probably their most Underrated album. wiz kid, thinking out loud, seperate kingdom. A lot of great songs and riffs.
