Free - The Stealer Lyrics
I went down to the centre of town
And my feet was a burning ground
She stood on the corner merrily as can be
I said hey good lookin won't you come with me
She said yeah
Came to steal your love
The sun was shining
The world was right
I said "tell me baby wha'cha doin' tonight"
I'm goin' round the corner
Where the music's loud
I'm tired of the city
Won't you come on round
I said yeah!
Come to steal your love
Steal your love oh yeah!
Goin' round the corner
Where the music's loud
I'm tired of the city
Won't you come on round
I said yeah
I am the stealer
Come to steal your love
Steal your love
Steal your love
Steal your love
I am going to steal you love away
I am going to steal you love away
Steal your love

Fraser was a Genius !
Bravo ⚘ Great music then. Great music now. 2020. Music lives FOREVER.
Andy Fraser.
QUALITY KNOWS NO TIME!
THE FOOSBALL PARLOR I FREQUENTED IN 1973 WOULD ALWAYS PLAY IT'S ALL RIGHT NOW. MISS IT SO MUCH,IMO YOU BEAT THE 70s.Buddy
Saw bad company at the Norfolk scope in 1977,I was 19 then and they put on an awesome concert. Buddy
Bravo ⚘
Yay 💗
isn't it a copy of the pusher (Steppenwolf) ??
Not really...even though both are basically following a common blues progression (probably this makes you feel similar) .
The Pusher repeats the same progression on the rhythm guitar all through the song, whilst The Stealer (studio version) has that repetition only in the chorus sections, and the rest sections have own riffs or the other slash chords progression. The Stealer also employs particular acciaccatura patterns between the bass and drums for riff sections, which The Pusher doesn't have at all.
Well, I like both songs btw.
Paul Rogers has always been great !
What a jam! What can you say? Paul Rogers was the best! Only thing that bothers me is this song isnt long enough. I have to listen to it twice!!#
That slow melodic down right dirty intro, classic FREE .
Come to steal your LOVE, the sun was shinin, the moon was bright ♡♡♡
Fraser's bass made that song. And 16-years old to boot. He died recently as a complication from AIDS, after almost dying from the disease several times earlier. I figure most gay people were born that way, but Fraser says he never realized it until adulthood. But, what do I know about that.
One of the best voices in Rock n Roll!
Jim Morrison
Damn! These guys were good. Rogers us still going. God bless him.
♡♡♡♡♡☆☆☆☆☆
This band were just the very best of everything in blues rock, Paul Rodgers, legendary vocalist, Paul Kossoff and Andy Fraser, both guitar Gods, and Simon Kirke, an excellent drummer who always ensured that the band kept that beautiful rhythm and feel in their music. Geniuses at work & very young ones at that!!!

Brilliant, simply Brilliant
The main riff has a "wicked" connotation, similar to Dancing With Mr.D.
One of my favourite songs .
The bass groove is amazing-and Paul Rodgers? Nothing need be said. Best band ever? 1970-73...maybe
amazing
Three stellar musicians and a sledgehammer drummer-sorely underrated in their day. Looking back, they didn't compromise-their riffs and Rodgers vocals will be remembered as long as there are amplifiers and electric guitars. RIP Kos's and Andy...
Such a sleazy sound
I feel like such a dope, how did I not dig Free when I was young. I always knew All Right Now, but there is so much more. I feel like I found a hidden treasure that was right in front of me for decades.
Paul Rodgers in my opinion was and is a far better rock singer than Robert Plant
andrew arthur matthews
Oh without a doubt!
Amazing song amazing group .
Fantastic classic song love the song from guitar riff to love-stealing vocal quality
still groovy
Kossoff x
Rip Paul x this tune is the nuts x
love ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You won't hear anything like this on the radio today! OUTSTANDING!!!
Paul Rogers sounds a little like Rod Stewart, come to think of it
man andy fraser had so much vibe in his bass playing
love andy
I ain't got this one but you better dam well believe it's on my bucket list? diggin in basement or goodwill for records ..dive in?
love the vibe and the guitars on this one
freetastic stealar. x
Now I See, where did Coverdale take his inspiration. )))
r.i.p andy.. i really respect your playin 'my bro jake'
My kind of Rock!
😍😍😍😍
what a band. One of rock's best singers (if not THE best), one of the best lead guitarists and one of the best bass players.
Can't get enough.....
prefer Rodgers singing in the early days
Murphy moe
Me too, something was missing when he joined Bad Company
The Stealer! What a song! Paul Rodgers is awesome as usual. The song just has this bad ass tone to it. As always with Free another classic! Just like songs like Fire and Water...
I agree all styles from the 60;s ,70s the styles of Classic Rock it was the time,s then that each band found there way of music music well never stop on finding different styles
The bass guitar on this is fucking amazing Andy Fraser RIP. Are you playing with Koss just now I hope so.
Love the music. Impressing singing and Bass playing.
This is it!!! Stripped down, bare bones, economical rock and roll! I've been scouring the net for a heavy version of this song but had to go to the source, mah boys...FREE!!
Thank God for the band Free, sure lit up my life, wish they would have lasted longer
Still so good. Brilliant..
that isnt even paul rogers
Lesley Storey it’s totally Rodgers when he was young you need to watch some more Free videos from 1969 or 1970
used to love listen t this now am not so sure
Some people, such as engineer Andy Johns, blamed the album cover which
was not as striking compared to previous releases and didn't prominently display the band's name. It was believed that fans who otherwise might have bought the album failed to notice it because of this.
I can never understand why this wasn't a big hit single after having achieved worldwide success with their previous album "Fire and Water" and the single "All Right Now".
From the fantastic "Highway" album that unfortunately also went relatively unnoticed.
No guitar solo....unusual for the time.
Why Kos didn't play solo's is
a mystery.....Apart from Moonshine and Crossroads
I would like to exterminate all drug dealers they have taken so many young lives Paul kossoff was so addicted to drugs he was only twenty five he didn't deserve to die that way ,you filthy drug dealing scum took his life I hope you all rot in hell
ferreday1 - it's called supply and demand for a reason but keep up the victim mentality, i'm sure it will get you far.
M4ri4n4sG4t3k33p3r^*^333 I take it you are either taking or selling drugs?
Well i occasionally drink coffee, eat food with additives, i used to smoke a lot and i occasionally drink alcohol so yes i am a daily drug user to some extent and so are you whether you like to think so or not. I am simply a realist who knows that people have been making money off of other people's needs and wants for millennia, there will always be a supplier of goods and it is a role that needs to be filled. If you want to play mr righteous with the victim mentality then you will have a very busy life because there are a tonne of people in the supply and demand business who prey on others and ethics and morality for everyone is a naive dream for kids with no life experience who don't know the world or the people living around them. I would make a bet that you aren't far off the mark relating to assumption of "kid". If you aren't young then you really need to experience the world, stop thinking like a hormonal child and learn to realize that drug dealers didn't kill paul kosoff just like jack daniels isn't responsible for alchoholics and mikhail kalashnikov isn't responsible for war.
Andy Fraser also wrote lots of hit songs..check that one out guys.
30 knob heads ah ah ah ah
Sounds a lot like the future work with Bad Company. Well half of Free anyway.
Phillip Anderson free had a much better bass and guitar player than bad company imo still love both though

Saw Free Live so many times, Country Club, Live Open air festivals. Fantastic group to see live. Country club in Belsize park was a lovely intimate club to see bands like Free, Fairport Convention etc.
paul kossoff was the one with the bad drug problem (heroin,mandrax)....not fraser
yes we know this.....point?
nevermind lol I see your point...it is out of sequence I apologize...thought you were bashing Kossoff but you simply stated a fact. Love to them both.
