Free - Magic Ship Lyrics

Over there is my magic ship
Would you care to go on a trip
We'll be sailing on and on
To a land where few have gone
Beyond the skies in my mind

Sweet bells ring and ring and ring you harmonies
Rolling out like the waves on the sea
Sweet bells ring and ring and ring your harmonies
Rolling out to those who can see

Let's away to a distant night
Let's away on a magic flight
We'll be sailing on and on
To a land where few have gone
Beyond the skies in my mind

Sweet bells ring and ring and ring you harmonies
Rolling out like the waves on the sea
Sweet Bells ring and ring and ring your harmonies
Calling out to those who can hear

Oh who can see
Because were sailing

Sweet bells ring and ring and ring you harmonies
Rolling out like the waves on the sea
Sweet Bells ring and ring and ring and ring your harmonies
Rolling out to those who can hear

Oh can you see
Inside
Don't be afraid,
Step aboard
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
All right here we go

Great song not into bob hope just love the music a whisky wil do

Free never really got the recognition they deserved.
They were one of the few bands of their genre at the time, or since, that were not afraid to let you hear the lyrics without shouting them at you

    What a great Free moment.
I can't stop listening to this song.
    Kossoff shines .
    Fraser also.
Rabbit's piano is perfect for this.
Let's not forget Kirke. He never misses.
And Rodgers ties it all together.

Yeah agree . Free At last , their best album best ever.
If you like this, listen to Andy Fraser Band , 1st album from Andy. Awesome , and his singing is great too, No guitar on this album , all bass solos and chords. Love it. On you tube for free.

    The duck's nuts

vinnius kruger - i'm pretty sure it's Rodgers double tracking. if not then it will be Andy Fraser as he did harmony vocal on various songs. e.g. watch the 'Free Me' from Beat Club outtakes to see him action with Rodgers.

    I.... F....

Andy sings great and some times you think it is Rodgers.

  12. P.... C....

It's superb as the first encounter unlikely and messianic of an umbrella and a sewing machine on a dissection table........And I weigh my absurd words ...... ;-)

All I can say is thank you ...thank you free for being free

  14. E.... M....

Saw them twice. First time just before the second album came out and pre "All right now". Great night.

Post "Alright" I didn't enjoy the live act as much. Probably the audience change.

  15. .... ....

I would put Free over Led Zeppelin !!! Never did get zepp!!! Why all Americans Idolizing zepp? Never get it. Free is way better!

    .... ....

I agree but Led Zeppelin were pretty fucking good.

    .... ....

Maybe because Free was all about feel , not technique driven?

  16. r.... s....

kind of funny thing to me i walked right upon his grave ring your haus

  17. G.... G....

    Stunning sounds - stunning vocals

  18. k.... ....

Growing up in the late 70's, there was this cat at the end of our road with an old battered army jacket. On the back he had a junkie needle painted and the words, 'Backstreet Crawler, All right Now.' Always loved that cat. Such were 70's gurus.

  19. V.... K....

who sings with Paul Rodgers on the chorus of this song?

    V.... K....

I think Paul is being double-tracked. Just a guess.

    V.... K....

Could be Andy , he can sound very similar , if you play Any Fraser Band album you can hear the influence easily.

  20. o.... ....

In the dictionary under "the tone of a Les Paul". this song is the soundtrack for leaving Earth on a Magic Ship about to colonize the galaxy, leaving a doomed planet. Consoling the trepidation of the mystery of what's lies in store for the passengers.

  21. a.... s....

Paul Rodgers...can't find the right words to express how great he is

  22. J.... ....

They broke "this" band up for Bad Company..... hindsight is 20/20

    J.... ....

Paul has said that he just needed to experience something beyond FREE. They lived together and grew up together essentially. He needed to move on and be FREE :). Also Paul said that Paul Kossoff was his soulmate ahhhhhhhhhfhfgfgf

    J.... ....

They didn't break up Free for Bad Company. Free fell apart on the Heartbreaker tour, which was supposed to be a final attempt to save it. Paul's solo effort with Peace brought him into contact with Mott the Hoople, and he struck up a friendship with Mick Ralphs. Peter Grant offered his services, and they took off like a rocket. Especially in the USA

    J.... ....

Kossoff's final band Back Street Crawler gigged at The Star club in LA for three nights in early 76', some bootlegs of those shows are on YouTube. Bad Co and Back Street Crawler did jam together on at least one of the nights.

There's a great photo of Rodgers, Ralphs, Terry Sless, Koss & Rabbit backstage you can find on The web. The rumors were that Rodgers was making a move to work with Koss again, then tragedy struck and Koss was taken from us.

    J.... ....

i mean, bad company wasn't bad but free was just so much better.

    J.... ....

It wasn't quite that simple, but artistically, it does seem a bit like demolishing a cathedral and using the stone to build a church! Commercially, it was the other way round. Bad Company were promoted more effectively and had radio friendly songs (lacking the depth, soul and special magic that was Free).

  23. g.... g....

sweet bells , best rock n roll voice ever !!

  24. m.... ....

For me, Free's most 'visual' album; the overall tempo of the entire album switches you into a unique sense of calm and allows you to associate with the music on a more personal level. It's fascinating how when the first time you hear a new song, wherever you were at the time stays in your minds eye forever. I was by a river when I first heard this song and that's all I 'see' now whenever I listen to it. I think this is a sign of music on a deeper level of conscience that really connects with you.

    m.... ....

    you get Free bro'...nice one...

    m.... ....

It reminds me of walking around a park with my girlfriend who went on to become my wife. Very special song. We had 'Get Where I Belong' for our wedding dance.

    m.... ....

    You mean "conciousness" ...LOL.

  25. P.... ....

After listening to (and reading about) Free for 35 years, it is a nice surprise to see a few photos that I haven't seen before, including the ones at 3:15 and 5:00.

  26. B.... M....

Wow-great to hear again- its so intimate to me-whole family know its my funeral track-not to soon i hope!

  27. k.... m....

Gotta be one of their best, and least heard tracks ,Paul Kossoff-wow

    k.... m....

I saw him live with Free in Sydney Australia in 73 I think. life changing moment , I became a musician, still am.

  28. G.... R....

When PR shouts "Here we go" and Koss takes off sends shivers!

    G.... R....

Not the only place to get shivers when Koss can be heard. Then how Simon Kirk shows just how the heavy handed smack on holding back off beat highlight to let the song, then, flow again, their secret is they played together and a lot on the road. They did the rounds and deserved the freedom that that work then gave them, able to meet people from all over the world in their native cities. I sadly caught on to them just as they had broken up, then I missed seeing Koss in London a week before he died. I have been in PR's home near London twice and have never met him, an hour late each time. He is still alive and gigging around now in 2017 July isn't it, at the Albert Hall. ? Too expensive for me sadly, but I could stand outside and that would be nice too but can't even afford the fare to the venue. He is welcome here by all means, any day the whole crew, free spirit is what is needed these drastic days. My door is open to all who come in a free spirit.

    G.... R....

Yes Free was all about the shivers!

    G.... R....

    Wat a wee jewish diamond💎🎸🔯😥

I Agree but they were magic when they were playing live as well. What I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time and see them together :)

  31. I.... ....

Free are the best band in the universe. Such powerful emotional music.
So sparing but so full, a combination of great talent and engineering from the studio.

    I.... ....

It is so FRee-ly recorded and captured , no one can cover these songs. paul Young tried , and failed.

  32. m.... ....

No doubt about it. One of the best music groups in the history of human kind. Free was just a magic combination that happens only one eevry ten millions years.. Forever Free..
