Freddie King - Takin' Care Of Business Lyrics

I gotta gal lives a way cross town
She don't stand no foolin' around
My baby told me we could make it somehow
Well there ain't no time like there is right now

I'm takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
You know I'm takin' care of business
I'm takin' care of business right now

Well you put a five right in my hand
If I don't show then you'll understand
I don't want to duck when the bill man' due
If I can't give five then a two will do

I'm takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
You know I'm takin' care of business
Takin' care of business right now

You see me duckin' and I can't come out
I'll be right inside just a lookin' out
The law man's got his eye on me
I'll be makin' that scene like a one, two, three

I'm takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Yes I'm takin' care of business
Takin' care of business right now

Yeah, I gotta gal lives way downtown
She don't stand no foolin' around
Baby told me we could make it somehow
There ain't no time like there is right now

I'm takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
I'm takin' care of business
Takin' care of business

You know I'm takin' care of business
I'm takin' care of business right now

One of the Guys that influenced guitar players on all sides of the world. Albert Collins, Howard Roberts, Freddie took blues to the top of the mountain. They were all our hero and they were studied by Hendrix, SRV, Eric, and those that copied the trinity owe their licks to these guys.

  2. Bill Needam

I've have the original 45rpm single!!! This is fantastic classic Texas blues!!!

  3. BeneVerba

Clapton stole the tone from him, but couldn't steal his blues.

    Connor Chen

BeneVerba clapton's tone is way more bass heavy dumb nut

The linked lyrics are pretty close.
    Freddie's 45 version is shorter.

There's one line where he sings "I'll be makin' that slave like a one, two, three" after he explains that the police are watching him. Is "makin' that slave" a reference to behavior that is master-approved so that the master doesn't get suspicious?
