Back in a time when the emo movement was in full swing, pretentious bands shilled out song after song about feeling depressed. Meanwhile, The Fray wrote timeless songs about depression and everything that came with it. They understood.

I wish I could see The Fray from here in Australia. I've grown up listening to them for as long as I remember. And, they're the only band that I've always come back to every year - the songs that hold a certain memory and sway a feeling that deeply resonates in me. The feeling that hasn't ever been replaced because of what they've created and brought to us all.

I love this song, even though it makes me feel lonely, sad, and regretful haha. It's nostalgic. Makes me remember when I left someone behind. Haven't seen her since and I'm wondering if there's really no way to reach her- and even after five years if it's too late to straighten it out, try to get in touch with her again... fix everything.

This sounds like something you might hear in Life Is Strange

Can I just interrupt the feels for just a second to say something about this song musically?
The song is in six four, which is already a little strange for the genre. But it also switches between swung and straight eighths really subtly, which I hadn't even noticed until now, after so many years of listening. The last chorus is transposed up a fourth, coinciding with the line "is there really no way to reach me" turning into a question. It's such a heartbreaking moment, and the tension it creates is not resolved afterwards, at least not in the way you expect.
There are a lot of very tastefully chosen musical elements in this song, all going on underneath the surface, and all completely in line with the mood of the song. You can tell the band put a lot of care and thought into it, and while it might not have been one of their big hits, it absolutely paid off in the final result. It takes really smart musicians to make a song as beautiful and touching as this one.

I love songs that are both made by talented musicians and have meaning. Also- Vienna is probably my #1 favorite Fray song. :)

Brenton Davis Vienna actually does have a meaning to it. Isaac (lead singer) wrote the song and he said it was about a break up. Something about a breakup when they're not together and they are leaving without saying anything. Im pretty sure that is what Isaac said i cant quite remember though.
