Fraser, Brooke - Hosea's Wife Lyrics

I just spoke silence with the seeker next to me
She had a heart with hesitant, halting speech
That turned to mine and asked belligerently
"What do I live for?"

I see the scars of searches everywhere I go
From hearts to wars to literature to radio
There's a question like a shame no one will show
"What do I live for?"

We are Hosea's wife
We are squandering this life
Using people like ladders and words like knives

[CHORUS]
If we've eyes to see
If we've ears to hear
To find it in our hearts and mouths
The word that saves is near
Shed that shallow skin
Come and live again
Leave all you were before
To believe is to begin

There is truth in little corners of our lives
There are hints of it in songs and children's eyes
It's familiar, like an ancient lullaby
What do I live for?

We are Hosea's wife
We are squandering this life
Using bodies like money and truth like lies

[CHORUS]

[Bridge]
We are more than dust
That means something
That means something
We are more than just
Blood and emotions
Inklings and notions
Atoms on oceans

Hosea is a prophetic book wherein Gomer represents Israel. ALSO, Israel in the Old Testament and in the Redemption Plan of God is a type of the church: the Body of Christ. Since those who were "not [His] people" have become [His] people, then we should and MUST view the actions and the lessons of Israel as pertaining to those who have inherited the blessings (and responsibilities) of Israel through Christ Jesus.

Ofcourse its about the church :) At that time, Israel was the "church" or God and the chosen nation for the Lord but in the New Testament, Christ makes it clear numerous times that he did not only come for the Jews but for the Gentiles and that we now make up the new church of God. Therefore, this does apply to the church, as Christ constantly mentions that He is our bridegroom and we are His bride.

This is about the people of the Lord. The Scriptures do not specify Israelite or Gentile :)
    Peace

But liznajarro said it, the most important thing to note is that although we are unfaithful, if we repent and return to God, He will take us back

  23. a.... ....

Specifically, the book of Hosea describes the way the people of Israel was living at that time, being unfaithful to God and worshiping other gods. The thing is that mankind is prone to go back to the same mistakes of the past. People today are no better than then, whether israelite or not

This song is about the book in the Bible Hosea. Hosea's wife was unfaithful - it resembles us the Church of Christ, with God. But it says that even though she was unfaithful, He receives her again!
