Franklin, Aretha - The Long And Winding Road Lyrics
The long and winding road that leads to your door,
Will never disappear,
I've seen that road before It always leads me here,
Leads me to your door.
Has left a pool of tears crying for the day.
Why leave me standing here, let me know the way
Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried
Anyway you'll never know the many ways I've tried, but
Still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to you door

Franklin, Aretha The Long And Winding Road Comments
Aretha Franklin, the BEST-EVER.
Aretha Franklin, TRULY a QUEEN.
cool she sings it exactly like paul does
Aretha is an enigma to me. I do not really like the sound of her voice, yet I still love her work and can't help but see the amazing talent. Maybe that is a mark of greatness - I don't find her attractive particularly, for some reason don't like the way her voice sounds, yet still will listen and admire her - that, to me means she must be one of the best.
This so gives me chills. If there was ever any doubt this woman could sing, take a good listen and one can feel the passion that she had for singing throughout her life!!!
New Birth sings that too.
I love background vocals, and you are indeed correct. Her background was always on point.
This woman was dripping with soul like it was water. She is just a phenominal singer.
She took it to church at 2:57.
Ray Charles is better
Whooo... Goosebumps while listening to this!
The best background singers...hands down..on most of her work.
Rivaliza con las mejores versiones bealtes en género jazz-fem
Good vocal riffs, but McCartney's interpretation is still best. Ray Charles did a respectable job with it. Not the sort of song that requires the singer to let loose like Aretha could.
*Paul does it best😍🤗😘*
I didn't realize that Aretha was such a fan of the Beatles
Rest in peace Queen of Soul.
Superb ❤
Thank you so much for the video… 👍 So Beautiful! 💙
Feel free to check out this ‘ The long and winding road, Beatles, Karaoke in Female Key A, HQ ’ as well~ 🎨

Cheers to You! 🌾
Styles P and Pharoe Monch!
my queen my most.
E tui tioriori whooo!
RIP and such a soulful rendition for all of us to live our lives in a better place. The Queen of soul indeed. Bring us all to church.
Just read a Rolling Stone article about this being the best cover version of any Beatles song so I had to listen to it. Thanks.
I hear the same thing about every Artist whoever covers a Beatles song
Hi, Rolling Stone magazine didn't like the overproduction by Phil Spector on the Beatles' version. btw John Lennon once said Anne Murray's top 10 version of "You Won't See Me" was the best Beatles cover.
I'm just hearing this version for the first time today. I'm on the fence about who did it better. I happen to love the Melba Moore version
Listen to George Michael's version, stunning.
@Carlos Aguilar
Aretha was amazing. But her best cover of a Beatle song was "Let it Be".
This is a wonderful rendition but the taste of the song sounds too much different from Paul's original release:
speed, orchestartion, atmosphere.
As a long term Beatle fan I've always read that Paul thought of The Long and Winding Road as a slow, melanchonic ballad with only piano, bass, guitar and drums.
RIP. So beautiful that she made this song her own and gave it a special feel.
The World lost a great artist today, her championship for civil rights will never be forgotten #Respect
Rest in peace queen of soul
Rest In Peace Aretha Franklin. She Passed Today 8/16/2018
"I need the paper that presidents got they face on so I can switch my residence"
- The Ghost
Ooh yeah! Queen of the queens!
this is nice. but listen to melba moores verson
exactly
Omg I was wanting something exactly like this
I had no idea there'd been a blues cover of this much less Aretha did it
Omg best version imo <3
Love Aretha.
Love The Beatles.
.......................................
"Suddently dis song be bout Jesus !"
Real music! My 💓 heart and soul craves real music! Love it! THANK YOU..Aretha! I love your covers of classics like this.
This version has nothing to do with The Beatles song. This song is almost unrecognizable. I do not like it at all. A terrible disappointment.
mccartney wrote this song in a style for ray charles.check out his version.
Yes, that’s the video that brought me here: https://youtu.be/Y6gCUGaiG6k
Now that’s really an unrecognizable cover – and just as fantastic!
No he didn't. McCartney and Lennon wrote their song for themselves.
A QUEEN FOREVER
she butcherd this great song
Brigadier Blue the original is the greatest version of the song and completely shits over Franklins version, it's not bad but doesn't hold a flame
rhinoonarampage
Incorrect
Amennnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Naw, she didnae.
You are a boring white guy I'am sure who knows nothing about soul music!!!
Aretha era muy muy muy grande. Es la primera canción cantada por ella que no me gusta.
Sheyt! I love her version <3
I love the original but it's kind of sad: Aretha gives it the kick it needs.
+Andrew Peak it's supposed to be sad-- of ALL the Beatles songs in existence this one is the very least one in need of a "kick"
Andrew Peak, That's the point, it's supposed to be sad.
The band broke up the same year fueling the sadness even more.
@wjm41259 Clearly a cultural disconnection for you
Sang ReRe....Let the masses say AMEN
She took it to church at 2:57.
I always attributed this to be a blues, soul & gospel song all wrapped in one. Aretha has a way with diction, phrasing and squawking through her songs which is typically gospel style singing. Sing on Ree!
This woman was dripping with soul like it was water. She is just a phenominal singer.
Thank you for the clip. It was a real treat.
I love background vocals, and you are indeed correct. Her background was always on point.
Perfection. Melba Moore also does a stunning rendition of this song.
U are correct and I love it.
this is beauty
No she doesn't. She's the BEST at her syle, and they were the BEST at theirs.
So so so true!!
Yes indeed...she made this her own. I love this arrangement. This and Holy Moses. Oh yea and Let it Be.
one thing that aretha always had when she recorded, was excellent background vocals. this song is no exception. it was always her sisters or the sweet inspirations who provided back up. listen to the background vocal s on this song. these ladies are doing it big time.
magic
Thanks for adding this song to youtube. It is my favorite version...The Queen make it her own.
Questa canzone ha del divino poteva uscire solo dalla mente del compositore Paul McCartney
Questo omaggio a Paul Mccartney lascia senza parole.
excellent version. " The Life" sampled parts of this song.
not heard it for 8 or years or so...top tune!...
Absolute perfection. Melba Moore does an equally fantastic cover of this song too.
