Franklin, Aretha - Old Landmark Lyrics
Let us all (all go back)
To the old (old landmark)
Let us all to the old (all go back old landmark)
Let us stay in the service of the Lord
Jesus, oh! (he's my Lord, oh, my Lord)
At the (hey! hey!)
Landmark
Praise the Lord, well!
Let us preach, at the old
Preach the word, all the way
Yeah, preach
Preach the word, all the way
Do it, know it, fell it (all people)
Let us preach, at the old (preach the word, old landmark)
Preach the word, at the old (preach the word, old landmark)
Preach the word, at the old (preach the word, old landmark)
Preach the word, at the old (preach the word, old landmark)
Preach the word, at the old (preach the word, old landmark)
People, now
Brothers, sisters
Yeah, lord, yeah, lord, yeah, lord, yeah, lord
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, lord
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, child
Let us all, to the old (all go back, old landmark)
Let us all, to the old (all go back, old landmark)
Turnin', yearnin', learnin', burnin'
Gonna go back, ahh (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Gonna go back, ahh (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Gonna go back, ahh (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Gonna go back, ahh (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Let us stay in the service of the lord

Franklin, Aretha Old Landmark Comments
Masterpiece.
i feel god
Great song. A true gospel standard. Remember my dad also a preacher playing Aretha's Amazing Grace album. Sung in choirs all my life and this song was a standard. Sad though that someone chose to polute these comments with such profanity and hatred. Aretha's background in the Black church and as a preacher's daughter is evident in her music throughout her career. She very rarely did a concert without singing one of her gospel standards. Her music and uncanny musical abilities were a true gift from God to humankind. No you don't have to be religious to appreciate Aretha's gospel but you don't have to be disrespectful to those who do view her from a religious perspective either.
OMG!!!! Now I see why they have Jennifer Hudson playing her. 😭😭😭🙌🏾 WOW‼️
I love Aretha!
I remember this classic as a kid. My moms playing this while cleaning early Saturday mornings. Thank God for the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. RIP.
My grandma wore this album out. But even I knew how perfect this was being young. Aretha makes it known...this is HER version. Dionne Warwick's version is a strong second
Absolute masterpiece.
My mother played this album so much when I was a kid in 1995 now all I do is listen to it in 2019.
Rip Beatrice Duren you set the tone amd now im here trying to also for mine) Mama you was a blessing
she is one of the masters!
Aretha’s idol Clara Ward wrote this famous gospel song.💛
It was actually Rev. W. Herbert Brewster who wrote it and the Ward singers recorded it.
I stand corrected. Thank you.
Step -mother
@Jae H you 10000% right. Brewster also wrote How I got Over and Move on up a little higher.
My grandmother bought this album 1974
I grew up listening to this album.

Wait a minute!!!!!😀😀😀😀....I've never heard THIS version of the song ...she was going off!!! Yes Lord Sang Aretha!!
@BillyJene musiclover I need a copy of THAT recording lol...
@TrumpetSAE try looking in one of the few record stores used section if any are near you.
this is the 1972 live version from the 1st night, u guys probably used to the 2001 version with both nights; back in the record days they didn't give us the entire recordings cuz it was already a double album & 4 records in 1 album was un-heard of back then, so y'all got the entire concert, but we got the better versions
I bought a double cd a few months back which is the original album and not the complete recordings which was released around late 90s/early 2000s If anyone's interested they can get from Amazon
@Aretha Franklin Whitney Houston
EBay has it too 😊
GONE HEAD RE‼️The Queen👑has gone back to the old landmark⛪️🙌🏾‼️
I'm pretty disappointed no one told me this existed while she was alive.
@Samala Henry Thank for explaining this to those that wish to learn and even the ignorant who let their immaturity blind them. Aretha's deep religious roots and love of her church foundation and gospel rings throuhg this album. For the record: I am a non-religious person who respects ALL people's beliefs and cultures. Aretha and African American Gospel is founded in our collective spirituality from the African continent and Yoruba, Akan, Ife and other cultures as channelled through Christianity as forced on us by white euroean slavery and transformed by our African cultural experience in America. Salutes to The Queen of Soul.
What rock were you hiding under?
@Samala Henry Tell the truth and Thank You for educating---- Truly, Thank You! CL Franklin was indeed a great preacher as well as a great no shame scoundrel! He made it no secret so in that fact he could never be accused of being a hypocrite!, but he did know how to preach.
No one TOLD YOU??? Lol you must have be unconscious.... NOT to know that this Jewel of an album existed!!!! Great Scott's!!!!! Today is November 4th, 2019
@BaKheru Amen Bakeru!!!!!
