Frank Zappa - The Worst Reviews Lyrics
[Howard:] From 200 Motels he expects the worst reviews of any movie ever put out, and I said, "Yeah, Frank? Why is that?" And he says, "Well, nobody's ready for it . . . " But it doesn't really matter, you know? He knows that the kids are gonna go see it, because it's a weird movie. By the time this jerky comes out, man, I mean, there still won't be anything out close to it

Hey faggot, give me your lunch money
christ do you age at all
would check one of the collaborator on the album, and review the not well known Don Van Vliet or better known as "Captain Beefheart" ? would like you to compare them working together
Classic
this album wrote the software to say between jazz and rock...leading to miles's experiments...i think mahavishnu was there as well.....zappa was fully self aware of the art he was creating...he understood broadcasting...broad receiving...narrow casting and narrow reception...he did it on maximum fractal scale and minimum fractal scale...and knew or attempted to do that....ie ...play to audience and receive instant feedback of audience and create on that..
the social engineering was done by early music...reality tv and social media does the job for the owners today...there is no new music on mass scale today
Do you read the comments, Anthony?
How can I get you to listen to my stueff duuuude
The guitar on Wille the Pimp.
I must live in the past cuz I listen to this record at least once a month
Wtf you should play with music
Do yourself a solid and listen to Frank Zappa Crew Slut off of Joe's Garage. You'll love it. Afterwards listen to the album Sheik Yerbouti.
I love to try playing The Gumbo Variation on my altosax is really fun
I wonder how many newcomers find it weird you like things like early prog/fusion vs. newcomers that find it weird you like the things besides early prog and fusion.
it's incredible how little he's changed in 7 years
Yeah because Melon has been dead for years. Every video that is uploaded was prerecorded 7 years ago.
@layton N Darkest twist material
Since when sterile people make reviews of dirty stuff and pretend they like it?..nah..lets not forget we live in the times of ego-nothingness worship.Every soft turd wants to be a star or famous for the stupidest things a mind can imagine. Its the spirit of Zappa that guided me to write that shit!
"its worth stretching out"
heh
Little umbrellas and son of mr green genes are amazing tracks!!!
That's one of my favorite albums too! I saw Zappa live once from the 6th row in 1975.
Oh shut up =:)
The sound you describe in Peaches is indeed tremolo picking; it's layered with marimba (and surely some methodically chosen guitar tones) and that's why it sounds great. Review more Zappa dude, next time you do a classics week or whatever
Why does he slightly YTP all his videos
Is Gumbo Variations longer on the CR version? It's only 13 minutes everywhere else
This album is a goddamn masterpiece
Frankie said “music is the best!”
Peace and love from Bristol, England
melon goes outside?
Love Zappa, Beefheart, King Crimson. Another act you should check out is England's Cardiacs 1976-2008. More recent ones you might also like are Field Music, Dutch Uncles and Wave Pictures.
Bahahaha!
Instead of reviewing the album, you should review what Frank said about rock journalists and critics.
Dude...Hot Rats came out YEARS before any of those other musicians fusion records...even Bitches Brew, usually credited as the 1st actual fusion record, came out over a year after Hot Rats. Zappa don't get the credit he deserves. Anyone reviewing Zappa should know wtf they're talking about
As dirty as a whore house mattress.
This album is a fucking banger
It's been the same for fifty years now. It's my desert island disk.
Frank Zappa's Hot Rats luv this, man :-)
I love this s album, but I prefer Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Check out the album Roxy & Elsewhere if you haven’t already.

Anthony Fantano the only YouTuber with something cool to talk about
This album's just a fuckin' masterpiece.
Can anyone give me a rundown on Zappa’s best albums?
I’m late to the Zappa party. I love Freak Out, but I’m trying to understand Zappa’s more eccentric stuff. It’s weird cuz I absolutely love Tom Waits, especially his eccentric stuff ... But I’m having a little trouble getting into Zappa.
Thanks.
Bongo Fury, One Size Fits All, and The Grand Wazoo are very unique and underrated Zappa albums. Weird, but not too weird either.
Chris: if you like Freak Out!, stick with the mothers bands for a bit. And watch the documentary The Freak Out! List (i think someone put it on youtube).
I can take about an hour on the tower of power, as long as I gets a little golden shower!
Self-important, and rather narcissistic 'insights'.
it s not for your calibre.
Amazing album amazing artist great video

Willie the Pimp is my fucking jam.
I love how Anthony intensely stares at the camera lol

HEY ZAPPA FANS!!! Please read this....
I recently have listened to and loved every single second of Hot Rats!! So much so it's become one of my favorite albums already.
I wanted to know what other albums you would recommend that are similar to this. I suppose in short what are the best Jazz fusion albums?
I have already tried and loved Sleep Dirt, Grand Wahzoo and the other albums that are mentioned at the beginning of this video and have loved those too.
Please, can you recommend some others. Thanks so much in advance :)
Apostrophe(') is a great Zappa album. Bongo Fury is great too!

I have a feeling that Frank Zappa would've either gotten a kick out of seeing you review this album or he would've hated it.
"Little Umbrellas" and "It Must Be Camel" are two of the most wonderfully sophisticated Jazz pieces Frank Zappa ever composed, ( two of my all time favorites). They make a lot of the other music on Hot Rats sound somewhat coarse and misdirected. This reviewer never mentions Weather Report whom Zappa himself was a fanatic fan of, ( some of his own musicians said he had a special signal in his concerts called "Weather Report" for them to change to a certain tempo). Weather Report, to these ears at least, stands alone on the Jazz Rock, R&B, Fusion Mountain.
There are times when my brain's not really thinking of anything and so defaults to "Peaches En Regalia" as some sort of mental hold music until my brain kicks into gear again.
I dig your analysis, hey ..how true is it.. that FZ kinda ripped Ian Underwood OFF by keeping all credits on composition for himself ?? ?
The term, "Ahead of its time," gets thrown around a lot, but I honestly believe it applies to Zappa. There's stuff he's made that sounds like straight-up YouTube poop. It's like he was channeling the, "Fuck it," mentality of the internet we've come to know and love and hate today. Yet I think he'd just be written off as a novelty if not for the fact that he could really write some traditional music of high technical quality when he wanted to. I was listening to classical radio last week and heard and orchestrated adaptation of, "The Dog Breath Variations," and it sounded like it could have been written by a young Dmitri Shostakovich. And goddamn did he write a lot of music. In 1969 he released two other albums besides Hot Rats. The man is an absolute legend.
i want to go listen to the music right now----not in mood for talking about it.
theneedledrop. Do you still buy albums/cd's or do you just get your music on youtube or download it online somehow? Thanks for the show/video.
Mr zappa was always been stingy in terms of album duration. boing
rats still hot
Don van Vliet is god.
my parents are the ultimate normies but i remember my dad buying this on CD for my mum in the 90's and having my little head smashed open by the opening track
