Frank Zappa - The Torture Never Stops Lyrics

Flies all green 'n buzzin' in his dungeon of despair
Prisoners grumble and piss their clothes and scratch their matted hair
A tiny light from a window hole a hundred yards away
Is all they ever get to know about the regular life in the day;
An' it stinks so bad the stones been chokin'
'N weepin' greenish drops
In the room where the giant fire puffer works
'N the torture never stops
The torture never stops

Slime 'n rot, rats 'n snot 'n vomit on the floor
Fifty ugly soldiers, man, holdin' spears by the iron door
Knives 'n spikes 'n guns 'n the likes of every tool of pain
An' a sinister midget with a bucket an' a mop where the blood goes down the drain;

An' it stinks so bad the stones been chokin'
'N weepin' greenish drops
In the room where the giant fire puffer works
'N the torture never stops
The torture never stops
The torture
The torture
The torture never stops.

Flies all green 'n buzzin' in his dungeon of despair
An evil prince eats a steamin' pig in a chamber right near there
He eats the snouts 'n the trotters first
The loin's 'n the groin's is soon dispersed
His carvin' style is well rehearsed
He stands and shouts
All men be cursed
All men be cursed
All men be cursed
All men be cursed
And disagree, well no-one durst
He's the best of course of all the worst
Some wrong been done, he done it first

(Well, well) An' he stinks so bad, his bones been chokin'
(Yeah) 'N weepin' greenish drops,
(Well) In the night of the iron sausage,
(Well) Where the torture never stops
The torture never stops
The torture
The torture
The torture never stops.

Flies all green 'n buzzin' in his dungeon of despair
Who are all those people that he's locked away up there
Are they crazy?,
Are they sainted?
Are they zeros someone painted?,
It has never been explained since at first it was created
But a dungeon like a sin
Requires naught but lockin' in
Of everything that's ever been
Look at hers
Look at him
That's what's the deal we're dealing in
That's what's the deal we're dealing in
That's what's the deal we're dealing in
That's what's the deal we're dealing in

me and the boys loved lsd. me and the boys loved the mothers. saw them twice in Seattle in the '60's. Exceptional, outer limits music. Like Bowie and Lou Reed on steroids, but with much greater musical skill, and i know, that's saying alot. Just listen to
Zappa's rendition of Ravel's "Bolero". I think Maurice would approve:)

  7. d.... ....

Another great night I got to spend with Frank.

Its almost hard to BELIEVE. That this was MTVs very first ever live simulcast concert...but its never mentioned and at MTVs 25th anniversary? It still wasnt mentioned on a HUGE family tree of MTVs accomplishments...that just is so WRONG...shame on YOU....MTV👎

  11. T.... H....

Zappa was the weirdest coolest and most badass songwriter ever, and he was a genius guitarist who played with the cunning of the insane. His true test of greatness is, you can start a Zappa jam with any song he ever did, it will be great and you don't give a fuck how long it lasts, it always ends too soon. Truly, the ONLY artist I never get tired of and who always amazes me with his effortless musical sophistication masquerading as deranged lunacy.

  22. A.... T....

Like Andy Warhol : over priced

  23. C.... C....

No one could rock a Jump suit like Frank

  24. A.... ....

Very absurd, truthful, and sad commentary of how macabre this sh*tcan we live in has become. Its all we got left. Not used to this style. But could be. boo bear.

  25. g.... ....

After Zappa ...the music is almost dead ...

  26. J.... P....

    Halloween Number? :-?

  27. V.... ....

You had to be perfect to be in Frank's band. He insisted on perfection. Steve Vai had troubles getting in the band. That's saying alot.

  28. R.... S....

He can be a bit of a pseudo intellectual at times but he sure was funny, overrated though.

  29. e.... b....

    Zappa is a musical god

  30. C.... N....

No one could ever be More sarcastic than Frank Zappa 😎

  33. g.... c....

Rare to see FZ with a Gibson LP Custom instead of his SG or Stratocaster.

  34. E.... V....

    He was amazing

  35. F.... C....

An unusual song but it's very creative

  36. J.... s....

    Chad Wackerman

  42. A.... J....

Polishing up a version(cut) of Rat Tomago

  43. D.... B....

I'll never get it. He was always more an intellectual musician and that didn't translate to emotion.

  44. C.... R....

    VIVA ZAPPA!

  45. R.... K....

Could use a little less Flanger an the Guitar Solo. If he had used Drugs he would have clearly heard it.

  46. E.... P....

    What a nuttcase.

  47. r.... ....

Frank Zappa really was a one of a kind.

  48. F.... F....

I liked the earlier Mothers band with the way less accomplished musicians much more.

  49. P.... ....

Frank really makes you think about the dungeon of despair (and flies)

  50. A.... S....

I prefer the studio version,it's so gothic and more serious and the torture is visual or likely audible with the female screams ,back in time at the start of Vai's career when he learnt many things from the Sicilian master.

  51. W.... O....

    Sensacional

  52. M.... B....

What a unique, cool and super talented guy.

  53. U.... R....

When Vai was interesting & relevant!

  54. R.... K....

    Actuel USA

  55. J.... C....

I was lucky to see Frank in Liverpool with the likes of Jean Luc Ponty, Ian & Ruth Underwood, Aynsley Dunbar, Won't mention the fucking Paedophile. The concert remains with me to this day

  56. M.... R....

Not only is Vai a great guitarist, but also a great Halloween screamer! Listen to those screams!

  57. L.... ....

    year anyone?

    L.... ....

    The early 80's...

    L.... ....

    andrewmarkmusic yea. I think ‘83

  58. M.... ....

Frank seems to be in a (rare) great mood, even nodding to the audience and smiling. The band must have been particularly tight that evening.

  59. K.... J....

That les Paul Custom has some badass tone!!!!FZ got a difarzz in the power seat ? We got a “ green an buzzin’ tone right there!!!

  60. A.... W....

I think 🤔 💭 this song was written about my ex wife’s cold empty heart. 😉😂

    A.... W....

Alan Watts we must have married sisters

  61. N.... B....

With Rafael Nadal on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. Oh and a blond Kevin Bacon on the drums.

  62. H.... H....

Steve Vai can sure scream! Strat abuse!

  63. B.... A....

Young Steve Vai playing second guitar….Vau!!!

    B.... A....

    ...and smoking a cigarette

  64. L.... ....

only Zappa could look fancy in this outfit

  65. J.... D....

Complete crap. What an ugly loser.

  66. F.... t....

    Hermoso 🤗🖤🤘🏽

  67. M.... W....

I wasn't a huge fan of the older song arrangements by the band that toured in the early 80s, it was the synth & horn parts where there were previously none, also his lackadaisical vocal delivery, rather listen to a 75-76-77 rendition with Bozio on drums, et al

That being said, it's still THE shit, I saw two performances in Philly at the Tower Theater & enjoyed every minute of both of them, must have been 81 or 82

  68. T.... U....

Bozzio's like, 15 or something. Boss.

    T.... U....

I think that's Chad Wackerman on drums.

  69. T.... U....

    5:13. Phaser, Baby.

  70. T.... U....

If it weren't for your crappy attitude, you might actually learn to enjoy it, my little Chattanooga Choo-Choo.

  71. F.... V....

In these times we could use some eloquent comments from Frank on the Trump administration.

    F.... V....

    Yeah right!!!!!!

  72. j.... ....

I'm trying to like him, I keep trying and trying, but I just don't understand... if it's suppose to be a big goof or what.

    j.... ....

He's beyond you. Start out with little nibbles. Evelyn a Modified Dog is short.

  73. S.... H....

    A unique talent.

  74. T.... B....

This Genius must have the biggest panty collection ever.

  75. T.... B....

    I love this guy...
    Great Mind. Check Live in
NEW YORK, with Don Pardo... Priceless concert!
    Chills too!

  76. M.... ....

So glad that I was fortunate to see the master 4 times in concert - once with Captain Beefheart! Also saw Dweezil's 'Zappa Plays Zappa' tour! :)

  77. B.... R....

I got my first car in '76. I still had enough money to by an 8 track player for it. But not enough to by any tapes. So my friend swiped one from his brother's car. It was "Roxy n Elsewhere"! First time I ever heard it. I still dig Zappa today! in 2019!

  78. C.... C....

He sounds like Gene Simmons in the intro

  79. R.... C....

The drummer is not so magister

  80. L.... C....

SLIME & ROT & RATS & SNOT & VOMIT ... ON THE FLOOR!

  81. O.... O....

Zappa tells all about the rule which was put upon us. He clearly describes the illuminati. Nice , very nice, people waken up, vive les gilet jaunes, yess, all of us who are fed up eating shit. Who needs to be ruled?

  82. s.... ....

    The Guitarror, the guitarror......

    @David Wood correction: NOT ONE

  86. J.... F....

    The MASTER

  87. S.... L....

    the original spikoli

  88. D.... C....

Growing up in the eighties, people would refer to
Zappa as a comedy act. The dude heard on Dr dementia. I think that comedy was a stigma that trapped him.

  89. K.... S....

    young chad wackerman on drums.

  90. L.... H....

I can't work out if Steve Vai's shirt is inspired by George Lynch or Bett Lynch???

  91. E.... R....

I was young. I was lit. I was there. Nothing like it anywhere on the planet today.

  92. s.... ....

Love Frank. He was out there man. Far Out.

  93. T.... ....

    aptly named

  94. Z.... C....

Is it just me or does the majority of Frank's playing in this concert have a "tinny" sound?

  95. s.... c....

    all at home...in 3. wine yt. ...

  96. J.... H....

Zappa played in our area every Halloween time. I was so lucky to have seen this band several times. It was an era where few even thought to go see him here. "Zappa Who??"

I was turned on from a dorm buddy of mine who had a copy of FREAK OUT.... on a vinyl record which I inherited and it is is a special place in my life and in my heart.

  97. J.... G....

Cool performance. But where does that f***** flange on Zappa’s solo come from ? Not Zappa’s mix for sure.

  98. s.... c....

his best song. in all versions
