Frank Zappa - Anything Lyrics
For you, I could do anything
For your love, my heart cries
Take my heart, my love my everything
For so long I've needed your love
I-I-I-I-I doubted your love
But now you mean everything to me
And each day I love you more
For you, I could do anything
For your love, my heart cries
Take my heart
(Take my heart)
My love, my everything
(Take my love)
(Take my heart)
I've needed you
(Take my love)
Take my heart
Take my love
Take my heart
Take my love
Take...

FZ's most beautiful song, and a brilliant tribute to the Doo-Wop groups
of the 1950s. File next to the Flamingoes' "I Only Have Eyes For You".
Magnificent. You would have to have a heart of ice, not to
have a romantic dance with this track........
Some seem to have a problem understanding that this could be a tribute and a parody at the same time.
ray collins what a voice.underrated,underappreciated.r.i.p. you awesome 'mother' of invention fella/motherfucker.
My wife and I chose this for our wedding dance.
i used to walk my mam's dog. a shetland collie called sheppydoodle, about 300 yards to a pub called the Farmer's Arms in Swinton. the main reason was that i had already ensconced with the barstaff a cassette of this album which they would play when i asked them to as long as i ordered a couple of pints of Boddingtons and a turkey and stuffing barmcake or two. the old biddys loved little shep and they didn't seem to mind the Jets.
Anything
"If you decide to leave me its all over" clever
I would give anything to be able to sing falsetto like Ray Collins
never got into the album because it wasnt even close to the others for content,,but il admit, nobody can sing like Ray Collins, the man had the perfect voice for this kind of music
arf..ray collins
Best piece of the album.
My favorite Zappa song. Bunk slays me with that sax solo
kinda ironic since zappa doesn't really feature on this track.
Frankly beautiful.....and still managing to take the piss......fuck I miss you Frank.
I love Zappa
Bro this is has way too much speed. Your USB Turntable SUCKS. Get some better equipment rather than some crosley piece of shit.
I Love this tune! Happy memories of playing with tinker toys and Legos on cloudy weekends flood my head, and then comes the sax.
Fantastic . . .only Frank could walk on the line of division and teeter on the side of a piss take and yet maybe not !
Found-Fuckin-dation!!!!!!
hey jaz.. i do too... if ya love this stuff...? ya MUST listen to TLSOUNDCO.COM....yer gunna hear ALL the good stuff there IS.. Terry Lee .......????? Well,, a GREAT friend of mind and ? I miss him.. Class of '67 Springdale HS.. PGH, PA...RIP TERRY..!OH... condoms on those tree limbs at lovers lane...? Terry's fault.....Blue was my fav.. WAT..?
...The fuck
I have the vinyl original of this album. Raked over by the bus but still plays so sweetly.
This is such a gorgeous song.
The sax solo -- beautiful touch.
For Mother's Day.
I proposed to my wife with this song playing in 1991
Fryboy 1963 i was born in 91 sir was a great fuckin year!!!!!
Thats love brotha, keep the love flame burning for eternity.
Cool boy.Real cool!
Dude, you're a class act. Beautiful song.
Collins, like the rest of the Mothers, served a purpose, but had to be dispensed with as Zappa moved onto bigger and better things. Love the man.
it´s funny how parody can be better than "original".
+Ramiro Alvarez Frank loved Doo Wop, so I wonder if you could rightfully call this a parody. A tribute, maybe.
Ray Collins wrote this particular song though.
Ramiro Alvarez what is the original?
It’s not a parody
@Lucas Michaels complete with the sacre du printemps quote?
VERY BAS RIP, TONE IS CHANGED FROM ORIGINAL .
wich's from "greasy love songs" album
The best doo wop voice ever. Anybody out there with the mono mix of this?
i used to have the mono mix but it disappeared, probably loaned out. weird, they used to make both stereo and mono versions, and for a while a quad mix too. bizarre
I think it might just be a fold down of the stereo mix, unfortunately.
the redone version of this album wasn't as bad as the redone
"We're Only In It For The Money"
There is no sarcasm here. This is only the better version of one of the most beautiful love songs ever penned and recorded. My absolute favorite vocal of Ray Collins, one of the best white R&B vocalists ever. The background vocals are perfect. Bunk Gardner's sax solo is perfect. Collins's lyrics and melody are so simple, they're genius. I've sang this song to almost every woman I've ever been in love with. People, this is The Love Song; the one to sing or play the night you intend to ask her to marry you. Simply Beautiful.
Not Bunk. Motorhead played sax on this song.
@Andrew Prokop Incorrect. That's Bunk Gardner on the sax solo on this song.
@Andrew Prokop Motorhead was better at creating caustic screeching sounds on the sax.
A blue balls lament, onism,...plyin with yo self , tDDBBB
Bunks sax is the most beautiful sound on this beautiful song. I too have this on my constant rotation to this day. Not many guess Zappa unless they were United Mutations members.
I heard that it was Motorhead on sax and not Bunk.
@Andrew Prokop It's Bunk.
+Tom Grose Motorhead is quoted as saying he played the solo.
Still a bit sad I never got to meet Ray Collins, being my 3rd-cousin and all. Still, he serves as a constant inspiration in my own singing.
What do you play...don't tell....it's not your own trumpet by any chance is it
I do not play trumpet, actually.
Fantastic......
I LOVE THIS TUNE
watermellon / easter hay... i hear beauty in it all but this is beauty om beauty spread THICK!. Ray Collins fer sure fer sure!
Grande Frank Zappa, grande Ray Collins.
viva ray collins, viva zappa, viva thee old vinyl, viva you & me
Someone else told me about it, but thanks for telling me anyway; I appreciate the gesture. I have the remix on vinyl and CD, and, pleading ignorance here, I didn't know the original mix was available as such. I haven't bought it yet, but I nonetheless MUCH prefer it to the 1984 remix. It just sounds better, what was FZ thinking?
It is available, the CD is called Greasy Love Songs :-)
We'll miss you Ray. One of the greatest vocalists of all time.
R.I.P
Ray Collins Forever....
It's available on the Frank Zappa website.
More of a tribute to the days of Doo-Wop than a sarcastic send up.
totally agree
yeah, and it's long out of print.
Frank loved straight doo wop and blues but satire is never far away with Frank!
I know Frank meant this as a sarcastic send-up, but this really is a beautiful song.
Thanks for the heads-up.
it is available on CD, but CD is called "Greasy Love Songs"
I really wish the original vinyl mix was available on cd. This sounds so much better than the other mix.
Zappa Induction Course Members
This album was recorded simultaneously with Uncle Meat in 1968
But what about the famous Zappa Jazz etc I hear you cry.
Have patience children for it shall be yours in the fullness of time.
Love it ....X
What a beautiful tune- I play it for my friends & family who like the 50s and Do wop music... they never guess its Frank!
@ianpender Thank you, Frank is one of his favorites I grew up telling kids I wanted to be a dental floss tycoon. haha.... no one ever understood.
Best song ever created... My dad used to sing me to sleep with this song when I was a baby. I couldn't find it anywhere!
such a sweet song
