Frank Turner - Recovery Lyrics
Blacking in and out in a strange flat in East London.
Somebody I don't really know just gave me something
To help settle me down and to stop me from always thinking about you.
And you know your life is heading in a questionable direction
When you're up for days with strangers and you can't remember anything
It's a long road up to recovery from here, a long way back to the light.
A long road up to recovery from here, a long way to making it right.
And I've been waking in the morning just like every other day
And just like every boring blues song I get swallowed by the pain
And so I fumble for your figure in the darkness just to make it go away.
But you're not lying there any longer and I know that that's my fault
So I've been pounding on the floor and I've been crawling up the walls
And I've been dipping in my darkness for serotonin boosters,
It's a long road up to recovery from here, a long way back to the light.
A long road up to recovery from here, a long way to making it right.
And on the first night we met you said "Well darling, let's make a deal.
If anybody ever asks us, let's just tell them that we met in jail."
And that's the story that I'm sticking to like a stony-faced accomplice
But tonight I need to hear some truth if I'm ever getting through this.
Yeah you once sent me a letter that said "If you're lost at sea,
Close your eyes and catch the tide my dear and only think of me."
Well darling now I'm sinking and I'm as lost as lost can be
And I was hoping you could drag me up from down here towards my recovery.
If you could just give me a sign, just a subtle little glimmer.
Some suggestion that you'd have me if I could only make me better.
Then I would stand a little stronger as I walk a little taller, all the time.
Because I know you are a cynic but I think I can convince you.
Yeah, cause broken people can get better if they really want to.
Or at least that's what I have to tell myself if I am hoping to survive!
It's a long road up to recovery from here, a long way back to the light.
A long road up to recovery from here, a long way to making it right.
So darling, sweet lover, won't you help me to recover,
Darling, sweet lover, won't you help me to recover,
Darling, sweet lover, won't you help me to recover,
Darling, sweet lover, one day this will all be over.

Is funny how every one feels nostalgic with indie songs
And I just feel like I smoke some crap
They are floogals.

Never fails to lift my spirits, make me cry, and remind me to stay alive, all in one go, every single time. Thank you, Frank. So much.
This song always gets played when I'm over the hill of one of my depression spells
This song influenced me to write my own https://youtu.be/wSKu3C_neyg
From fronting Million Dead to this....damn what a great career Frank is having! Long live this man and his music. I was playing this CD in my car with my grandparents one day and my grandma was looking over the lyrics; "You know, this guy reminds me a lot of Neil Young...only less whiny and much much better."
I love how this song is like cynical hope. Like we deserve to be happy and to recover but it's extremely hard and a long road.
Have you ever seen the kids show called Floogals? Kinda sounds like the theme song 🤔😋
Such a brilliant, brilliant song
Sounds like a cheesy romantic comedy movie scene song.
Floogals theme song brought me here 👍
I found him fresh out of my like 7th stint and drug rehab and it helped me through my first 30 days clean, I relapsed and ran for the past 2years and now I’m clean and back to listening to him.

Fan-blooming-tastic . Play it nice and loud thou 👍
*He is the God of rap. Maybe a lot of people don't want to admit it because he is white but that's ridiculous. He has proved that music has no boundaries and he made a name for himself even though he was doing music that was "traditionally" made by black people.*

My favorite sub-genre of music is depressing lyrics matched with upbeat music, ala help by pink guy

Were your neighbours playing this and you listened through the wall with a glass and wrote down what you thought you could hear?
sold 1 album last year to his mother and she demanded a discount....a talented ambitious hard working something with nothing to say......truly a modern fakery..and I am a fan !!!
oh man. in high school my girlfriend and i made CDs for each other, and she put this on hers for me. Purely because it was a good song. Later when we broke up, it probably took me 2 years to get over her. But this song both hurt and helped the healing process. I still love this song to this day, reminds me of good times and bad ones.
I saw Frank Turner yesterday and when he played this I cried, amazing song thank you so so much for your music

Woodstock 2017!
Really like this song. Just heard it. Anyone give me some song suggestions please? I love ed sheeran, passenger etc
This is such a fun song! One that I think applies to me in a way, helping me get through my therapeutic journey.
I remember hearing this song years ago but only the beginning London part because my dad would always change the radio, but I've always had a fascination with Europe so I looked for this song for months and finally found it.
Saw them tonight with Arkells and they blew me away. Frank is fucking awesome, so full of energy. SEE THEM LIVE.
i like the bit with the guitar.
you were amazing in calgary last night!! thanks for kicking me in the head when you crowd surfed 😂👌🏼
Frank Turner is the type of songwriter you just wanna walk up to and hug for writing songs about just how you feel.
Saw him live in Vancouver last night! Amazing 💕
Is this the sleeping souls or just frank turner. They're supporting Blink 182 in July and I wanna listen to them.
Both - 'Frank Turner' is what everything comes up as on iTunes and The Sleeping Souls is just his backing band but he gives them a lot of recognition so his gigs are always 'Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls'... if that makes any sense!
Josh Hardy he was amazing with his backing band, so much energy
