Frank Turner - Polaroid Picture Lyrics
Man, we used to be brothers
Superheroes and warriors
Cowboys and Indians, train drivers
Everything rolling through the endless summers
You got married had children
And I don't have your number
The one I can remember is the place you used to live with your parents
But in the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture
To capture our faces forever
The world has turned a touch on it's axis
And the only thing certain
Is everything changes
At the end of last summer
The place we earned our pedigrees
Scene of our victories
Sanctuary in the center of London
Now they're building a railway
To drag the vanquished to Versailles
And the singalongs go on
But they're singing different songs
In rooms that we don't know on the other side of the city
In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture
To capture our faces forever
The world has turned a touch on it's axis
And the only thing certain
Is everything changes
So honey I just need a little time
To take a little time with it today
To savor all the triumph and tragedy
Before it slips away
Before it slips away
Let go of the little distractions
Hold close to the ones that you love
Cause we won't all be here this time next year
So while you can, take a picture of us
Let go of the little distractions
Hold close to the ones that you love
Cause we won't all be here this time next year
So while you can, take a picture of us
Take a Polaroid picture
(Let go of the little distractions)
Take a Polaroid picture
(Hold close to the ones that you love)
Take a Polaroid picture
(Cause we won't all be here this time next year)
Please take a Polaroid picture
(So while you can, take a picture of us)
Take a Polaroid Picture
(Let go of the little distractions)
Please take a Polaroid Picture
(Hold close to the ones that you love)
Take a picture of us to show
(Cause we won't all be here this time next year)
We all want you to see where our time goes
(So while you can, take a picture of us)
So in the stillness of the moment
Make sure you take a Polaroid picture
And keep it with you forever
To remind yourself that everything changes
But there was this one time
There was this one time
When things were okay...

I played this song day and night when my husband died. The lyrics seemed to fit exactly and I had even turned my husband into a fan. I emailed Frank and told him how much this song meant to me and he actually wrote back a really sweet email that I received on my birthday. He is an amazing man and a fabulous musician. #frankfanforlife

WTF! This amazing! Cheers from germany!
frank truly is amazing. such a great guy, near where I live there's a well loved venue called "the joiners" when frank heard it was closing down he performed they're without payment letting the venue keep all the profit so it can stay open.
I cried listening to this song after I said goodbye to my best friends I had for the past 9 years. He joined the army and knew we would begin to grow apart.
such a great guy live love him
Franks songs picked me up from a very dark place, I owe him my life! What a legend! Cant wait to see him live
This is the best after-graduation song I've ever heard

I saw Frank about 1,5 weeks ago in Utrecht. It was phenomenal. Absolutely a true singer/songwriter these days, what an amazing show! I can recommend everyone to go to one of his shows, it'll be something you'll absolutely love.
My buddy tagged me in this as like a end of senior year song when we graduated a few years ago. I cannot listen to this without feeling extreme painful nostalgia
I found this song by accident and Im happy i did
UniGTv
I love when that happens
only 300k? wtf
I wonder how do you make that kind of effect on the video's intro
Frank is a legend :) and Im lucky to own that guitar he is playing in this video now :)
Play for us some Frank's songs:)
Gets me every fucking time.
Another one who proves that the "all music today is rubbish comparaed to x decade" crowd are speaking tripe. If they can't be bothered to look around that is their problem and says nothing about music today.
Great work lad, carry on please.
Just reminds me of my local that got torn down :(
No words. Awesome.
It's good but it's no Darude - Sandstorm
The endless memestorm rolling through our lives,
mad bros and giggling trolls scurrying in it's wake
I finally managed to search Darude Sandstorm on YouTube, after almost 2 minutes thinking when will there be any lyrics or something I gave up. Heard it for the first time and I was so disappointed when it was nothing like Polaroid picture by Frank Turner
Like trying to choose between an quality English real ale and a fine Speyside whisky - both great, just different songs for different times!
I can't help but think of Biffy Clyro when i listen Frank Turner. Don't know why.
I have the same thought :P but only on certain songs
He's done a cover of Whos got a match and has opened for them on multiple occasions
Biffy clyro fucking hell it's been ages since I've heard him the best song is mountains :P
@Pro Elite It's a great song, but machines is juast such a beautiful touchingf song
Frank is a male version of taylor swift
taylor swift and for that matter any songwriter wish they could write lyrics as good as Frank
@Rolland Hall have you ever heard taylor music, not like 22 or we are never, like "all to well" or "cold as you" or any other, if i say that frank and taylor have a good quality of lyrics whats the problem?
Taylor does, her 7 songwritter hall of fame awards can say it ;)
@Mauricio Vazquez too bad she is a shitty person also
He's nothing like Taylor swift XD he writes good meaningful songs and doesn't talk about ex's or relationships in every one of his songs unlike Taylor swift, she stared okay and turned terrible XD
i think this is the best song from tape deck hart
Capitalize that "i". Also it is heart.
@mrwafflesization fuck off with that grammar police bullshit
@nolan this is from england keep my bones, not TDH
@Tom Alexander Roynon-Blake nope tape deck heart, looking at it right now
Heard this song and all I did was cry it reminds me that you leave ppl behind and best way to remember is by taking a picture, just graduated so this song really touches my heart :"(
I simply get enough of Frank's music. He seems to read my heart when he writes his songs. I so relate to his music.
I've never found anyone with the ability to write quite like this man. He's one very talented musician. The man deserves to be bigger than he is. The masses of people that listen to what they're sold, miss out on gems like this. I feel sorry for the people who don't dig deep enough to find wonderful music from truly talented artists.
so, we need a tour with Frank Turner, Brian Fallon, Chuck Ragan, Mumford and sons, Edward and the Magnetic Stripes, so on and so forth XP
It was called the Revival Tour. I think you missed it. So did I. Search Chuck Ragan Revival Tour. Dave Haus, Brian Fallon, Frank Turner, Chuck Ragan ect... Punk gone folk
blood red shoes?
Funny how this is my favorite song and it has the least views...
Frank is the man. I've alienated all my friends. Frank is all I have left.
old time selfies
this is fucking music! love this guy!
Let go of the little distractions, hold close to the ones that you love, cus we won't all be here this time next year sonl if you can take a picture of us ♥♥♥
I love this guy and can't wait to see him in Nottingham on Friday!
Just the other day my teacher played this song in class - 12th grade English. We were discussing death and change and he felt this was appropriate.
It's rare to see so many classmates close to crying, but it just felt... right. This song just speaks on so many levels to me, and to see it does that in general just makes it all the more better. I can't wait to see Frank at Coachella.
Frank, thanks so much for sharing your music with us, I can always relate to your lyrics. Seeing you live was incredible!
This guys Atheist. Badass xD
man what im getting at is at a deep level. that song would be about your cat, thats why you wrote it.
@Nolan Or it could be about the general concept of death, similarly to how this song is
about the concept of religion rather than his own beliefs. But my original point was that this song isn't outright stating that "Frank Turner is an Atheist and that is good because religion is bad lol". It's just a comment on how we treat religion, and that we should act as if there was no God. The fact that Frank is or isn't an Atheist has nothing to do with the song itself.
@Odam Priscatt Sure, "Glory Hallelujah" may not be a song about being an atheist but when he flat out sings "There is no God, so clap your hands together" you can pretty much infer that he is an atheist. Its not hard to extrapolate that from the song. Put simply, there is no God so live your fucking life. If you look at another song on "England Keep My Bones" entitled "One Foot Before The Other" you can see that his view is essentially that we are a product of the universe and believing in God is about as useful as putting a condom on your head. The way Frank writes is pretty often to the point, plenty of metaphors and poetic devices as such but pretty blunt and honest in writing and delivery. I think it's pretty safe to say he's an atheist, at least by definition.
@Manchild
Oh yeah, I completely agree, all I was saying is that the song is not about his own specific religious beliefs, nor do said religious beliefs make him a badass
@Odam Priscatt Well it's not about him, but it is kind of about what he believes. From the song its pretty clear he believes that there is no god and that although he was a religious believer, it is now redundant in his mind. He even refers to himself in first person at one point saying "Well I've known beauty in the stillness of cathedrals in the day, I've sung glory hallelujah wash my sins away, but now I'm singing my refrain and this is what I say, I say there never was no god". It's pretty clear that thats from his point of view and he's clearly stating what he believed and what he now believes. As for what he believes making him a badass, well he's a badass regardless so it doesn't even matter!
I went to osheaga with a group of friends, but i saw that frank was on the small stage and wanted to go see him, but the rest of my friends wanted to see other acts (they later admitted they regretted not coming with me). The small stage was nestled in between the trees, it was beautiful. The crowd was amazing, I never seen soo many happy people in one place. Then there was Franks performance which was top class. i have never seen someone with such amazing stage presence, it felt very personal. before the show i only knew a few songs, but it felt like i knew every word. After the show i fell in love with all of his music downloaded all his albums right away. Everything about his music is amazing, there are not enough words to describe it.
fuck yeah dude Franks the greatest
+Greg Douglas That show is in THIS video! Don't you recognize the Tree Stage? I was there also!! Was the best part of Osheaga by FAR that year!!! So intimate and fun and Frank was so into it...
Recognize it? https://youtu.be/Rw9UwJr5f8I?t=60
Forever an influence in my life and music.
amazing he changed my life with his songs
One word. Legend.
Rather than taking a polaroid picture, why not a take a video instead? Haha, nah. This song comes off as damn near poetic, just beautiful.
than* :)
I was at 4 of the shows in this video!!! so amazing live.
One of the most beautiful songs I've had ever heard! Amazing!
It's beautiful that anyone who made it into this video can look back at this when they're feeling down and remember that there was this one time that things were okay.

The phone number lyric is so true. I have so many old friends that I've lost touch with, but I still remember the landline numbers for the houses they grew up in.
a small company took on the production of the films and the paper, about the cameras i don't know. but i've heard they paln rereleasing a modified older model.
i also think this song transports a very happy message.
I like the guitar distortion ...yeaaaaah
I don't know the specifics but I know they require instant film that I don't think they make anymore making it difficult to take them. You'd also have to have the specific type of camera for it as well.
Can you even take Polaroid pictures anymore? Do they make them?
Now know what my next tattoo will be from :)
SO excited for your tour in November, can't wait to see you in Philadelphia! :D
The only thing certain, is everything changes. <3
Brings a tear when Cahir walks away in the background. :,(
