I love this cover because it's so much more appropriate in tone than the original, but my pesky brain keeps adding in the perky "Ooo-ooo-ooo!" choruses.

This particular version digs deeply into the darkness of the soul, rends the pain fron our psyche and prominently displays it in a stripped down manner, in it's most vunlnerable and naked glory, for all to bear witness. You FEEL the truth that lies behind the song on such an abyssal level that in a way makes you almost feel as if you've wronged yourself - even if you have never been.

IMHO, this cover is far and away better than the original ever was based purely on the emotional response invoked by the artist. Sure, the original was a wonderful song and conjured up many fine memories of my childhood. Happy, bouncy, upbeat - it harkens to the carefree days of my youth hanging out with my friends by the river in the late summer sun. But in my adolescence, I never delved deeply into the lyrics or their true meanings...

The original is my favourite song ever... Love Frank's unique spin on it, it's really good. I wouldn't go as far to say better than the original, but by god, it's up there!
