Frank Sinatra - You And Me (We Wanted It All) Lyrics

[intro-strings]

You and me, we wanted it all we wanted it all
Passion without pain, sunshine without rainy days
We wanted it always

You and me, we reached for the sky, the limit was high
Never giving in, certain we could win that prize
I should have seen it in your eyes

Look how all our dreams came true
See how I've got me and, baby, you've got you
Through it all, just one thing died
A little thing called love, something deep inside

You and me, we're not like the rest, we once were the best
Back when we were dumb, how did we become so smart
And learn to break each other's heart?

Look how all our dreams came true
See how I've got me, baby, you've got you
Through it all, just one thing died
A little thing called love, something deep inside

You and me, we're not like the rest, we once were the best
But look what we became, isn't it a cryin' shame
That we almost made it?

But we wanted it all
Baby, you and me
We wanted it all

Mm., mm , mm

I've tried to listen to this song without it bringing tears to my eyes, and it never works. You can't help but reflecting on the past with this song..One of the best ever written and only Frank could sing it. Saw the movie "They All Laughted" decades ago, and ordered it on Amazon. Song is played at the end of the movie..

  13. M.... B....

  16. C.... L....

One of my favourite Sinatra songs - played at the end of a movie I saw many years ago... I wonder if anyone could tell me the name of that film?

    C.... L....

Irreconcilable Differences (1984), and the movie They All Laughed (1981)......you can look it up on IMDB by Soundtracks

  17. P.... M....

I love this song by old blue eyes. I first heard it in a movie but I forgot the name of the movie but the song when perfectly with that moves story line.

  18. H.... B....

Very moving song this from frank just brilliant love his music a true legend

  19. B.... V....

One of Sinatra's best......…..a study in perfection, the marriage of Nelson Riddle's orchestra, Sinatra's unforgettable vocals, lyrics, production..a lost art. Enjoy it, folks. It will never be again...………..You and Me...………..we Had it All, and lost it all.

  20. H.... G....

Got a cute story to tell you with this song..
One day, me and my boyfriend (1 month at the time) were sitting on the floor of his apartment. Tickling each-other then he said to me, "How about we take a drive in frank? Just you and me." (Frank is the name of his car)
I laughed and said; "But Frank is so fast!". Then all of a sudden, his google home just said loudly; "Playing Frank Sinatra- You and Me"
Me and him both suddenly looked at his google home and this song starts playing, we're both confused and start laughing. We sit quietly for a moment staring at each-other, still not getting over the fact google just unintentionally set the mood for us both. Then he looks at me, takes my hand while this song is playing. It couldn't have been a more perfect moment. He then leaned in, kissing me on the lips then whispering to me, "I love you."

It was the first time he said it to me.

I realize it sounds pretty fake saying it now, but you can believe me if you want. It was so perfect and so surreal. It's a memory I will hold on forever. This song has become our song now, thanks to that one moment, that one comment. The misunderstanding of technology thinking we wanted to listen to Frank Sinatra.
Thank you Frank Sinatra, for making a moment between my boyfriend and I so perfect that we'll tell our children one day.

    H.... G....

This was my wife and I divorce song.....how true it was.......

    H.... G....

    Great story Hazel.

  21. B.... V....

Sinatra's musical marriage to Nelson Riddle and his orchestra resulted in the best work of his career. From It Was a Very Good Year and everything else they did, it was perfection in music this side of Heaven.

  22. P.... L....

Johan Lebbing no doubt , I’m telling you people that compile those lists must be idiots , oh yeah on the most influential people Oprah was ahead of John Kennedy 😂😂 now isn’t that hilarious

    P.... L....

    Unbelievable..............and yes, they are idiots.
They don`t know anything about music or celebrities.

  23. P.... L....

Frank !!! The best the very best ever thank you Frank for the gems you left behind to carry us through our tough times and our celebrations , there will never be another Frank and that’s fine with me , you can’t duplicate that magic !

    P.... L....

You wrote an hour ago: 'I looked at a ranking of 50 of the most influential people , spike lee was up there Dolly Parton but no Frank Sinatra are you kidding me WTH is wrong with people , boy this country has slid off its...'

Then you seen nothing yet. This according to Rolling Stones the list of greatest singers of all time: https://www.listchallenges.com/rolling-stones-100-greatest-singers

It`s a freaking shame that Frank Sinatra did NOT made it in the top 100. I saw the list and wasn`t worried about the greatest singer of all time was Frank Sinatra. I`ve looked in the whole top 100, and NO Sinatra.
now that`s a big fault from that magazine.....shame on them.

  24. K.... L....

Frank probably wouldn't have agreed to record if he knew that it was written by an Australian

    R.... T....

So, he was prejudice against Australians?

    R.... T....

@Joe L Prejudice against no one.
