Frank Sinatra - We'll Gather Lilacs In The Spring Lyrics
We'll gather lilacs in the spring again,
And walk together down an endless lane,
Until our hearts have learned to sing again,
When you come home once more.
And in the evening by the firelight glow,
Your eyes will tell me all I want to know,
When you come home once more.
[musical interlude]
And in the evening by the firelight glow,
You'll hold me close and never let me go,
Your eyes will tell me all I want to know,
When you come home once more.

Wonderful
Listening this at home with some tea along is just perfect.
Sung The Way it Should be Sung >>Maestro>>
NOT a Sinatra song. Frankie just doesn't 'get it'. Sorry dude. Stick to what suits you.
M.J. Leger ... your manners are atrocious ... “uncle louis” deserves to be treated with respect even if he is an imbecile.
Agree, not his song
I'm a Sinatraphile, but this is not a very good version of a wonderful song.
I agree. 10 Seconds in, I felt there wasn´t the same depth as I know the song...don´t get offended people it happens
@73kimura Sadly, people get very defensive when their preferences aren't shared by others. They take it personally.
This song doesn't suit this singer!
Of course it does -- he did all kinds of songs, but he enjoyed his ballads, probably most of all, and this ballad is true Sinatra! Notice how he enunciates his words, so correctly, so that they don't run together -- "fire-light's glow" how he says the "s" on light's and then glow. Perfect, just beautiful. Makes you feel like you are sitting right there by the fire, home again!
"Lilacks"!!!!!. The more I listen to this version, the more I'm convinced this is simply awful. This is only my opinion
Sinatra sings it beautifully, same way as it suits him -- beautifully! How do you, "Terence Morgan" enunciate the word "lilac?" Do you say "lie-lucks?" The English speaking correctly say "lie-lahks!" To wit: (Websters Dictionary: lilac: lī-ˌläk, -ˌlak, Definition of lilac for Students: ' ä ' is spoken just like the a in the word "Mac". ) However, the way Sinatra says "lilacs" sounds more like "li-lox" (as does Bing Crosby) if you wish to get technical. That's even more Welsh, like the composer who wrote this beautiful song. Some renowned opera singers sing it with an even different accent, NONE of which are "simply awful!"
Dude is smooth as silk!
Agreed!
