Frank Sinatra - The September Of My Years Lyrics

One day you turn around and it's summer
Next day you turn around and it's fall
And the springs and the winters of a lifetime
Whatever happened to them all?

As a man who has always had the wand'ring ways
Now I'm reaching back for yesterdays
'Til a long-forgotten love appears
And I find that I'm sighing softly as I near
September, the warm September of my years

As I man who has never paused at wishing wells
Now I'm watching children's carousels
And their laughter's music to my ears
And I find that I'm smiling gently as I near
September, the warm September of my years

The golden warm September of my years

This song came out in the mid-'60s as a 45. This was the B side - the A side was "That's Life." What a record!

Happy September, my friends! Thank you, Mr. Sinatra.

I am now 56 and this song as well as many other " emotional " classic SINATRA did , stayed with me since I first heard it as a boy of 4 in 1967, my mother LOVED " Francis Albert ".....this is one of Frank's All~Time Top 10 for me !! The strings, it's all about ....how time goes by so fast !! Thank you Frank Sinatra for touching my life too !

I'm 71 now and still love Sinatra. In Phila. we had "Friday with Frank, and Sunday with Sinatra" hosted by Sid Mark. We were very lucky here

    absolutely lovely

I used to play this album endlessly on my radio show when it first came out in South Africa .. I was 21 years old and loved this track and "A very good year" so much people must have thought I was crazy. At age 75 I still think it's the best album he ever made, yet I read that he was not very happy about the way it sold. Well it wasn't for lack of trying on my part.

    N.... T....

Nick, I agree. Two other Sinatra favorites: A Man Alone & Ol' Blue Eyes Is Back

  13. L.... G....

Yes it slips by like a noiseless runaway train getting ready to stop ! Not yet I hope.

  14. L.... G....

    Beautiful Frankie👄👄

  15. W.... H....

    Somebody's been living my life.

I worked downtown at a Italian restaurant. It was known for local and Midwest gangsters. I was 19 and enjoying life. They played Sinatra constantly! I remember this song. Which, at that point of my life really didn’t resonate. I turned 60 last September and after listening to this song, it really hits home. Thank for posting it.

  17. R.... J....

    Just love this song

  18. M.... K....

This is a September song I really appreciate, especially now that I'm in them. I was always surprised that he didn't do this more frequently in concerts.

  19. M.... M....

I was born in September, so I love this month ...

  20. L.... g....

Pokaždé, když slyším pana Sinatru zpívat "Till a long forgotten love
appears", představuji si, že když tuto píseň nahrával, myslel u téhle
věty na svou první ženu Nancy...

    TRANSLATION:
    Every time I
hear Mr. Sinatra singing "Till a long forgotten love appears", I like to
imagine that he recorded this song with his first wife Nancy on his
    mind...

  23. A.... D....

First heard this in my young teens and was moved by his performance! I guess i'm an old soul:)

    A.... D....

This is one of them hard songs to listen to when youve turned 70,But this is sung so Brilliantly by Frank i can never stop listening to it.

  24. P.... S....

    Hear you Frank !

    P.... S....

me too, dear Peter! September is almost turned into October.....and then ...xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    P.... S....

Me too Alice.71 now and those leaves are blowing harder all the time.

  25. C.... P....

as an orange reddish  maple leaf  driven by the autumn wind , this song expresses only as Old Blue Eyes can do melancholy and beauty. Great!!

  26. J.... D....

An allegorical song that punctuates Frank Sinatra's life and career. Many of his works were autobiographical. The one and only Frank Sinatra, what a privilege to have lived during his century!

  27. s.... P....

Se ajusta como un guante a lo que es en este momento mi vida y mi estado de ánimo, sensibilisima canción, maravillosa y tan tan elegante..
    Gracias Sinatra.

  28. F.... V....

You must be as me 65 years old to appreciate the full poignancy of this song.

    F.... V....

    well what about it now??

    F.... V....

Fernando Villegas i am 19 but i feel like old

    F.... V....

I feel I understand this song after the unexpected death of my younger brother at age 55 six weeks ago.

    F.... V....

There are still lots of warm, sunny days in September !

    F.... V....

Sinatra was 50 years old when this album was released. So, if he conceptualized and released this album well before 65... You don't need to be old to appreciate music like this. Hence, one of the beauties of life.

  29. w.... m....

One of the best songs from Frank!!
I am been a great fan
Thank you for posting that great number!!
    Greetings from Holland Wim.

  31. T.... ....

Great voice. Beautiful lyrics. It is kind of like Eliot's "Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"...you have to have reached middle age to get it.

  32. b.... ....

    Just about says it all.

    love this entire album

  34. F.... ....

Beautiful song and performance by Frank Sinatra.
