You do realize this was written in the 1940s? When this song was written, a woman could NOT make the first move without being labeled a slut. Examining the lyrics under a modern microscope you may as well object to Jingle Bells because who dashes anywhere in a horse drawn sleigh, totally irrelevant lyrics. prschuster People of both sexes approach courting differently. Some men are more tentative than some women and vice versa. If the attraction is there, they’ll figure it out. I was never going to make the initial first move, it’s not the way I was raised. If a guy I was with was uncomfortable with that, then we weren’t meant to be together. Fortunately, my hubby figured it out and we’ve been happily together for many years.

How this song could ever be about sexual abuse is completely beyond me but I suppose that's the age we live in now if you try to invite an attractive woman into your home to avoid the snow or ask them if they would like to go for a hot chocolate with you then you are at risk of being accused of harassment. I am a huge Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy fans and as I noted in my write up, "I've accompanied this version with graphics of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. Kirsten was the radio partner of Eddy on the Electric Hour in the late 1940s and round this time Jeanette MacDonald was asked by a fan club questionnaire which modern song she'd like to record with Nelson Eddy, she responded "Baby It's Cold Outside". That's the connection so it has relevance for me.
