Frank Sinatra - April In Paris Lyrics

I never knew the charm of spring
Never met it face to face
I never new my heart could sing
Never missed a warm embrace

April in Paris, chestnuts in blossom
Holiday tables under the trees
April in Paris, this is a feeling
No one can ever reprise

I never knew the charm of spring
Never met it face to face
I never new my heart could sing
Never missed a warm embrace

Till April in Paris
Whom can I run to
What have you done to my heart
What have you done to my heart

Remains the definitive version of this standard along with Billie Holidays version.

While I am loath to suggest that there can be (a) definitive version(s) of any song that has been recorded as many times by as many artists as this one, you would have to add Artie Shaw's 1940 version along with Count Basie's 1956 version to your list to satisfy me.

Instrumentally, Artie Shaw was a genius...but the sung lyrics by Sinatra and Holiday were extremely evocative for me.

I agree. The mention of "chestnuts in blossom" in the context of Paris reminds me of this:

Why do I want to see that? This is perfection.
