Four Seasons, The - C'mon Marianne Lyrics
Marianne, Marianne, Marianne, Marianne
Whoa-ho-ho here I am on my knees again
I'll do anything just to make it right
Say you'll understand, oh I know you can, c'mon Marianne
No matter what people say, it didn't happen that way
She was a passing fling and not a permanent thing
Say you'll understand, oh I know you can
C'mon Marianne, c'mon Marianne
C'mon Marianne, say you can understand
My Marianne, Marianne, Marianne, Marianne
Well now your big brown eyes are all full of tears
From the bitterness of my cheatin' years
C'mon Marianne, c'mon Marianne
C'mon Marianne, say you can understand
My Marianne
C'mon Marianne, c'mon Marianne
Marianne, Marianne, Marianne, Marianne
Marianne
Marianne

Way,way better than " Oh what a night ,December 63"
She was a Passing Fling not Sling! Anyway the Song Hit The Top 40 6/10/67, Peaked at No. 9, On the Chart 10 Weeks!
On my knees again
♡♡
I love this song so much. The first time I heard it,I knew it was going to be a big #1 Hit song! I felt the same way about my cousins Little Peggy March song in 1963.
'I WILL FOLLOW HIM' ,and it was.
This sounds strangely punk
What’s the story behind this song? My dad was from Brooklyn too.
He is a PLAYER
Just for "grins", listen to Lenny Karvitz' (sp?) "are you gonna be my girl" and tell me there aren't some amazing similarities.
It must be the precise harmony. but the song 'kinda reminds me of an old Monkees cut called "Valerie". Check it out.
Love the Seasons and Marianne..do not give him any more CHANCES..You have more CLASS....
Touch Me by the Doors
So many wonderful Seasons' songs. This may be their best.
4 seasons 4-ever !
The 76 dislikes are from Marianne and the girl he cheated on her with
So Good!
For those of you just getting turned on to the 4-Seasons, take the time and check out their ENTIRE catalog! Truly, one of America's greatest groups!!!!
The Doors 'borrowed' the opening riff for their 'Touch Me' song.
One of their best, overlooked by the critics
I'm Marianne lol
Hi from 2k19😊🔫
I've always thought these guys didn't quite get the respect they deserved as musical innovators. Love love LOVE this song. The backing vocals and that driving drum are fantastic!!! Saw "Jersey Boys" on Broadway with my wife for our 30th wedding anniversary this summer and can ABSOLUTELY recommend it!
What can you say. Awesome
Love this song
Love this song 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Hearing this for the first time; love The Four Seasons! 😍🎶😊💕

Psychedelic!
My Martian man
If you look up the song list of strange magic you find all the songs
Here with my Takamine EF 350 covering this awesome song from The Four Seasons! Love them forever!!!
So much can be said about this song... the harmonies are incredible. But at the very least, let’s be honest. This song f***ing rocks. Can’t even imagine hearing this as it came on the radio for the first time.
He was singing this to Carmela when her and Rose went to Paris in the restaurant.
wonderful
Lord knows, I'm Marianne.
Underrated classic, awesome
Get that silverware do e
Great song. None better.
LOVE Mr Valli and the Four Seasons. This song kicks ass. They do Jersey proud. Saw Frankie last year and he can still hit those high notes. God bless 'em.
Can't you see that I am not afraid, what was that promi- oh wrong song nvm
One of my many favorites by them.
One of our great American groups, with Frankie Valli's distinctive sound!
I've always loved the four seasons - what an incredible voice Frankie Valli has - they all do - great timeless music !
Bring back the tamberin sounds, underrated song.
the doors brought me here!. "touch me"
how that?
Covered in french by Les Intrigantes-Je n'aime pas Marianne https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUxPmDb6UaQ
MG!!!! Like finding new FRANKIE GOLD!!!!! Ty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wide stereo seperation.
A late hit from the talented quartet, their rare effort not written by lanky keyboardist Bob Gaudio and manager Bob Crewe. Gaudio does get credit for the stellar arrangement.
Frankie valli is da best!
Why the hell is this not on Spotify? I don’t want the Jersey Boys soundtrack, I want THE ORIGINAL!!
¡Strange Magic!~
This kinda blows the top off all other early Four Seasons songs, despite being a minor hit. Pair this with Swearin' To God as a quality deep cut single.
The Grapefruit version is good.
C'mon :) QC
Ajax stronger than dirt
This song has got the best back-up vocals I've ever heard on any piece of music.
As my pop always says North 6th St Newark NJ
Favorite
I used to pretend Frankie was singing this to me as my name is spelled the same way and I always wanted to do a duet with him love Frankie <3
c'mon baby let's dance!
let's dance baby!
Suck it Iggy Pop. These guys had that riff first. So you do not have full dominion over it.
love those shiksahs! a Jewish man
sensational
My Aunt's name is Mary-Ann (Wrong spelling I know) I think of her whenever I hear this.
Isten éltesse még sokáig Frankiet és Four Seasonst. Magyarországról Józsi, még ma is egy nagy 73 éves rajongójuk.
All time favorite right here
fabulous!
Best song they ever recorded.
I really really love this song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of all the great, great 4 Seasons songs this is my favorite!...who cares right?...lol
Sounds much better than the remastered version.
Idk how people are saying the song sucks or talking about the name and complaining about nonsense .... I'm concerned about how justified cheating was during this time lol I mean I guess since women weren't allowed to be able to live without a man. But damn song is still about the dude cheating and saying it's okay. Still like the tune though
Tori Terlaje I thought the song was about the dude apologizing for cheating.
@Daniel Sanchez pretty sure it is, I think Tori Terlaje just misunderstood the lyrics
I love this song!!
One of my Favorites from 1967,It was a Really Good Year for Music.
Marianne Russo 7 th . Ave. Brooklyn 1977 What a piece of ASS.
fuhgettaboutit
the doors brought me here
Luv the Four Seasons to this day!!!!
My favorite Four Seasons song!!
The Summer of Love, 1967, was just another ordinary summer vacation from school for me. But I definitely remember hearing this song on the radio.
Do I have to be older than I am to convince people that this music was a game changer and differs from the music youd hear during the next two decades?
Weird how there is a key change downward after the chorus. Usually the key change goes up.
John R its unique
I dont mind the sound of it. It just isn't what songwriters normally do.
los mejores recuerdos d mi juventud, intensa pero sana
as good as this song is, the oldies stations don't play this. I haven't heard c'mon marianne in 30 years or more
Just heard it for the first time on radio today
I first heard this song on Famous 56, WFIL, here in Philly as a 9-year-old kid that summer.
Not true. While "oldies stations" don't even exist in many places anymore (by that I mean 50s/60s oldies) they certainly used to play this song all the time in the 80s-90s on oldies stations.
Oldies is 70s and especially 80s now. I've even heard Sugar Ray on the local "oldies" station.
Sirius XM has stations for 50's,60's etc...
C'mon Marianne by Frankie & The 4 Seasons went to top 10 in September of 1967.
this song is amazing and you can really hear how it inspired touch me by the doors so beautiful
Of course they had to go with the one song with Marianne in the title.
This song really rocks! I recall hearing this for the first time in the sixties and I judge it
as one of the 'seasons best ever. Thank You for posting.
i can hear the doors hint hint
come on come on come on touch me babe
yeah I saw that same strange magic move so cool
Franki Valli's music is classic. Way better than the Beatles music.
Do you really think that? I love The Four Seasons, had every record they ever made. Still love them. And you're right...their music is classic. But to say that their music was "way better than the Beatles music" is, first of all, just your opinion, even if it were true (which it isn't because music is subjective...what I love to listen to may make your blood boil!), it would still not be a fair comparison. Lennon & McCartney have written and recorded some of the greatest songs ever and they did so in such a short timespan that it is almost impossible to imagine. They went from songs like 'She Loves You' to musical deities like "Sgt Pepper's'. I think you may need to sit back and listen to the old Beatles once again, give them a chance to change your way of thinking. Both groups have written and recorded classic songs...but the Beatles wrote so many of them that it's not even close. 309, in total, of which 72 were covers. The Four Seasons had (this is not completely accurate but it's close) a total of 41, 9 of which were covers. If you include the flip sides, it would be 82. The problem with that is that very few of the 'B' sides of Four Season's music are well known. With Beatles it's just the opposite. Most singles 'B' sides became huge hits for them. They both recorded a few albums...13 for the Beatles and 14 for the Four Seasons so that's kind of a wash. But the real kicker is this...Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons have sold approx 100 million albums worldwide altogether whereas the Beatles have sold 1.6 billion worldwide. That's a HUGE difference, one that cannot be denied or reputed. Again, I love the 4 Seasons but The Beatles are second only to Elvis, who is so far out ahead it isn't funny (over 2.6 billion). So there you go...
my fave song with my name
Finally, after many seconds of searching, I found the original song from the movie Strange Magic.
my idol
@Vam The Anomaly are you for real
strange magic movie
I know this is an old comment, but you got a real chuckle out of me.
me 2 mins xd
Love this song!! My father Raymond L Bloodworth was one of the co-writers on this song and also at the beginning when the guitar is played that is my father. There was a comment that said Franki Valli wrote it and well hate to bust your bubble but he sang the song that my father Raymond L Bloodworth and my cousin Larry Russel Brown wrote.. My father is now passed away but I get his royalty checks for writing that song so either Mr Valli is being very generous or ya got your facts wrong...Badabing!!! Not the only one he wrote either..
My favorite 4 Seasons song !
I'm really kind of sad to hear that your dad passed I always see the comments from a l Russell brown but I never saw any from you Dad I'm sorry about your loss there were two very talented gentlemen
Did your dad ever tell you who inspired him to write this song? Please tell me you have a story behind this song from him. I mean who the heck was Marianne anyway? An ex wife or girlfriend of his or a made up character that he and his co-writer came up with that wasn’t based off of anybody specific?
A great song and one of my favorites by The Four Seasons. Remember, Haters Gonna Hate! I LOVE This Song!
Pretty sure the guitar is most definitely Tommy DeVito the whole way through.
Why was this disliked
C'mon Marianne! Love it! Their last single in the 1960s (rel. June 1967) to reach the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100.
You're absolutely correct! I graduated in June 1967 and this song was constantly being played on every transistor radio during senior week as we rehearsed for graduation exercises. Plus, my best friend's girlfriend's name was Marianne who he eventually married (and still is) upon graduation. Good memories for sure with this song and The Four Seasons.
Did they have Marianne from Gilligan's Island in mind when they made this song?
No, G.I. had MARY ANN in mind, haha! And I'm glad they did. What a doll, Dawn Wells was--and still is!
Strange Music brought me back to this festive dance classic, but I am looking for the mono 7" version. This stereo version hasn't the same punch as the version originally played on the radio in 1967!! DAVEDJ
