Foundations, The - Back On My Feet Again Lyrics

Yeh
Yeh
Yeh
You can pick me up baby and put me back
Back on my feet again
And make this life of mine sweet again
Yes you got what it takes
To end all the heartaches

Pick me up baby and put me back
Back on my feet again
And make this life of mine sweet again
Yes you got what it takes
To end all the heartaches

In my life there has been nobody
Who ever cared a bit about me
I was the one guy deserving love
But every time it seemed to be found
I was the one guy really hurt in love
Who ended up flat on the ground (flat on the ground)

You can pick me up baby and put me back
Back on my feet again
And make this life of mine sweet again
Yes you got what it takes
To end all the heartaches

Pick me up baby and put me back
Back on my feet again
And make this life of mine sweet again
Yes you got what it takes
To end all the heartaches

Tried so hard to take it cool and easy
But everything seems to go wrong
I was the one guy, believed in love
Who seemed to have some kind of knack
To be the one guy, deceived in love
Who ended up flat on his back (straight on his back)

You can pick me up baby and put me back
Back on my feet again
And make this life of mine sweet again
Yes you got what it takes
To end all the heartaches

Pick me up baby and put me back
Back on my feet again
And make this life of mine sweet again
Cause you got what it takes
To end all the heartaches

Was lucky enough to grow up with all of this wonderful music in high school. I was a big Foundations fan, but never heard this one until tonight.took me right back to those carefree, feel good, days. What great fun they're having and look at that horn section. Iid like to say something to counter what Joey Ascue said around a year ago in 2016.  He said, - "Too bad this one not go to #1 like the other three. I have played with this group since the late 80's. "Well, he can't have played with THIS GROUP because THIS GROUP broke up at the end of 1970. He also said, - " They are still alive and living in SC. Dave Huffman is the only remaining member after they came to the USA."Well, that can't be right because Dave Huffman never played with Clem Curtis or Alan Warner, Eric Allandale, Pat Burke or Tony Gomez. All that is in SC Carolina is a group that sometimes uses the Foundations name. No connection  at all.And he said, - " He owns the exclusive rights to the name, and songs. He even sued the movie company over the use of "Build me up Buttercup" in "Something About Mary". That's not true at all. HUffman found out that nobody owned the Foundations name because they forgot about registering it and registered it's name with him as the owner. And to insult Clem Curtis by saying - "Yes, Clem Curtis is still somewhere in the south using the name.....but he does it without permission".That's twisting things around and making out Clem was someone who hijacked the name. garbage and uncalled for!Well, Clem Curtis went to court in the 70s against Colin Young as they were both using the name in the 1970s and won the right to use the name. Clem had released records as The Foundations or Clem Curtis & The Foundations in the 1970s and 1980s. Clem and his band The Foundations as they were calling themselves back then nearly won the Eurovision 1975 but because of an electricians strike they weren't televised and lost their place. In short, the all white American group who's leader has somehow gained the rights to The Name has no connection to this band.

Hi Cliff, many thanks for your post setting things straight about the original Foundations! I have just posted the following on to Joey Ascue: Alan Warner here from the original Foundations! I get this all the time, people claiming to be an original member of the Foundations or owns and claims the rights to the name etc.I don't normally respond cos I would be spending half my life doing just that, however, every now and then you get a Wannabee like Dave Huffman who wasn't on any record, album, show or tour and was in no way associated with the original Internationally famous Foundations Band. The Foundations had to struggle hard for quite a while before finally being signed up to stardom. How dare he claim any original Foundations can't use the name (incidentally it was me who thought up the name the Foundations), what an insult!!!!!

Hi  Pluto & Hi Alan, thanks for the reply. Well, knowing a little about the Foundations as well as having a friend that spoke to Clem a couple of times, I couldn't not say anything.  It is a terrible thing to say. Basically this shill of Huffman is making out that they have more rights and more ties to the Foundations history that you Clem, Eric and the other original lads had.  .....  Not only is that guy claiming that Huffman should be the only one using the name, he is doing it in an insulting way. .....  Now that Clem has sadly passed away, you should be the only one to talk with authority on this. ...  Great to know it was you responsible for the Foundations name.

  26. a.... r....

another fact that people overlook is that the lead singer CLEM CURTIS was a pro boxer ! and it is like a double of MIKE TYSON!!!!!

  27. a.... r....

this song is very inspiring if you listen to the excellent lyrics but not many went to the record shops unfortunately and only reached number 18.

  28. S.... C....

Saw Clem Curtis singing last week in Cardiff with Soul Legends, only two days after he'd had a stroke , he sung three tracks from the old days, the audience called for him back on stage he was so good his voice is fantastic for a man born in 1940.

    S.... C....

He was a legend Sue Contestabile1 . Been listening to his voice for more than 40 years......................................The Native Hipsters - Mr. Magic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RX4pqUe-AnE............  And here's Clem lending his vocals to some funny song.

I love this song and the time .I was in a Liverpool band called The Shuffler Sound, all mixed race black/white /asian ,I played organ and thought The Foundations have opened the door for us guys but it was not meant to be, still I can remember this clip vividly, we where rehearsing and run in to the front room to hear this classic Brit soul song onTOTP's. So melodic. 1968
