Fort Minor - Be Somebody Lyrics
Green Lantern [echo]
Uh
MS
Lupe
Ya know, I'm a fan man, I'm a real fan
Feel real honored to be up in here, ya know I'm sayin
(Gonna be someone)
They had to bring out the expensive mics for this one
(Gonna be somebody)
Ya know I'm sayin the seven thousand dolla headphones for this one here
Yeah, ya know I'm sayin
(Gonna be someone)
Comeon, talk to em
[Mike Shinoda]
Win or lose
Forcin your feet into someone else's shoes
Everybody's got somein to say
That we oughta live their way
What were doin's not okay
In this world
Everybody's got a chip on
Both sides of their neck
Got no respect
Wait up a sec
You ever feel like the pressure's too much too take
Too much weight
Ladies, and, Gentlemen
If anybody can hear me right now
Please shout back
Were not the only ones feelin so trapped
In a dream of somebody else
In fact
They got their heads full of some overblown scheme
Opportunity they missed
Back when they were sixteen
And all they want to do is push you to be that
And all you wanna do is scream back
[Chorus]
Gonna be somebody
For anybody tellin me I can't
Gonna be someone
For anyone who told me I had no chance
Gonna be somebody
I'm tellin you the time has come (Like that)
Gonna be someone
And maybe you'll get it when I'm finally done
[Mike Shinoda]
We don't sleep to dream
We sleep to build stamina
Energy to do our thing
Get your camera
Cuz this ride is about to begin
Sit down, and buckle it in
Let me say it again
In this world
Everybody's got a chip on
Both sides of their neck
Got no respect
Wait up a sec
When I was young
They said the odds of makin it
Were slim, to none
Ladies, and, fuck it
I'm tired of them sayin the dream you have
Doesn't exist
Tellin you you're worthless
Sayin you should quit
Basically tellin' you
That you'll never be shit
Really they're pissed
Cuz they'll never achieve
Some opportunity they missed
Back when they were sixteen
And all they want to do is push you to be that
And all you wanna do is scream back
[Lupe Fiasco]
Uh
They gone think you're crazy
Mumblin' to yourself
In the basement all day
Uh-uh-uhin to ya self
My pops didn't dig it
Was shovelin to myself
My boys used to get it
They dug it because they felt
My undertakin took me
I was makin in my stealth
For wealth of rhymes, of crazy
I was chuckin to myself
Then they went into the mental rolodex
See I'm knowin bout heart
Like a brain in my chest
And I took up a school
Where subjects was gettin felt
Books under my seat
No book layin on my desk
My teacher's like, Mr. Jacob
Yes?
With all that knowledge
You aint tryin to go to college
Be a lawyer or a doctor
Get a whole lotta dollas
Rather degrade women
And glorify violence
Well the work that works for me
Might not work for you
No homework, I got work to do
[Chorus]
Gonna be somebody
For anybody tellin me I can't
Gonna be someone
For anyone who told me I had no chance
Gonna be somebody
I'm tellin you the time has come (Like that)
Gonna be someone
And maybe you'll get it when I'm finally done
(Im finally done)
This is an invasion

Fort Minor Be Somebody Comments
I wish there was a heart reaction on youtube. A thumbs up does not reflect how much I like this song.
"THANKS" 😎
BE SOMEBODY.................. Y LA "CARA-BINA LOCA" CON SUS TANTOS RABOS O COLAS
why is this not on spotify
I can't believe anyone hasn't quoted this in the comments yet, so I will:
"Yeah, this one goes out to those fantastic human beings that keep us down and hold us back, and give us fuel for what we do. Thanks."
FIYA.
After many years I had to back to the song that introduced me to Lupe. His verse here still sounds dope. :)
Shinoda and Lupe on one track 😭😭😭😭😭...
I always tell people that Shinoda made me fall in love with Real Hip Hop. He's the reason I looked up rappers like Pharaohe Monch which in turn led to me discovering so many other lyricists like Mos Def, Royce da 5'9 and so many others
*Man so far that's a dope af list tho man!*
Every track from FM is my jam
This is a song I tell to those fucking haters, who try to bring you down.
Love this song. This band helped thru times I couldn't explain things
72 people have a bad taste in music in 2018
Always been a fan ever since middle school!
Gonna be Somebody
Thousand foot
Do you still feel depressed lol straight comercial that shit
So still trying to pretend to be yet you suck at it! What a shame!
Is it "gonna be somebody" or "go be somebody" or "come be somebody"
Jonathan Dardon gonna be somebody
In the beginning Lupe can be a little anoying after you hear it 100 times, But the song is still legendary and the message is too
Verbal destruction.
Chester got me thinking so much about so much....Mike Shonda for one..
I have this CD, but haven't listened to this in awhile
DAMN!!!!
beat is dope
verses are sick
flow is legendary... em' level legendary
2017 Baby
Very Awesome! I thought it was very cool...
Where was this song why am I just hearing it???????
does the album title having tide spelled wrong have any significance?
Somewhere between his verses on this and Spraypaint and Inkpens, Lupe became my favourite rapper, and that hasn't changed since
these one them songs make me feel cro magnon like I had a six pack of busch
MS the dude of all dudes...

fuckin Lupe go hard!
One of the most underrated songs ever
<3 Much respect
MS is a living proof you can achieve your dreams with hard work and dedication regardless of what people say and how hard they try to stop you
I'm so happy right now and glad I discover this song so late, lol Lupe Fiasco & Mike Shinoda is my top 2 favorite rappers! This is too much! Wooooooo!
oh my God I love fort minor
I love this jam not ok
anyone who dislikes this song i hate them
this lyrics is dope! man
such a great song! skylar grey participated
Aaahhhhh, real monsters. Hows that for a scream...
These lyrics are so freaking deep.
Shit go hard af
if mike didn't join LP and have that type of success with them, I'm not sure people would like at this album a whole lot, not because he's not a talented individual but because if a rapper comes out and isn't all thuggish, talking about bitches and drugs then they aren't cool enough. when guys like mike and lupe are actually just really cool fuckin dudes, while these storyteller rappers makee millions, selling hope to the hopeless.
+Wayne S Do you listen to FM because of Mike? Or because of lines they write?
your fuckin retarded he made LP
@ToXiC ReAlM Kindness takes you far.
like im on de sleeptrain to build STAMINA SS OB STRENGTH N STAMINA PROPS MACHINE SHOP.
We don't know about that...
Mike IS Linkin Park.
Mike was around 80% of the band, He did most song concepts, lyrics, drums (with help of drumer), guitar, bass... he mixed the songs to the final version.
of course Chester was SUPER ULTRA MEGA important to the band, but Mike did sooooooo much!
So maybe without LP he would be famous anyway (not as much, I think). Not everybody think rappers should talk about bitches, car, and drugs, otherwise Eminem would not be famous (I dont like Eminem, btw)
LUPE !!
"We sleep to build stamina"
best verse ever
Get your camera
Tell me about it
Hey sup doubters? Fuck you.
The last line tho! :)
Jeannie Cho Thanks
Skylar Grey!
@***** What's your problem? Her name now is Skylar Grey, back in 2005 she was Holly Brooke.
lol i didn't even observe i always thought it was just mike singing in falsetto on the chorus
Really good like/dislike ratio :)
lupe and mike shinoda together <3 <3 <3
Mike Shinoda's voice is so badass
I got a track with him on my channel, Debris.
Mike Shinoda and Lupe Makes this Awsome !!! Both my Fav
Very Inspiring !!
Just found this. Lu killed it (as always ;]).
What part does "Tak" do? Is he the first verse? I can't find him in this song!
Tak is listed under the featured artist "Styles of Beyond" with Ryu.
You can faintly hear him in the chorus with holly
I think that may be Mike.
Holly Brook
Skylar Grey
Spy on the gays
I liked it better with encore numb instrumentals
You got a disc, then? Because that would make sense, I got mine from iTunes, then again, Apple isn't exactly amazing, either.
i got an import of this album from asia. That version had it on there. even came with a poster
that ending !! haha
BASICLLY HES SAY wut u tell me to do i wont do now fuck off XD
*not on the album. At least not on the iTunes version.
There are a lot of great tracks not
Is lupe still a Muslim?
Why is this track not on the rising tide album?
how can I know*
Not really! How can I whether you care or not before telling you? It's not like I know you from yesterday.
Usually when you like a song and lsiten to it, you care for the lyrics though.
...you know i don't really care
I think it's a pretty simple (to udnerstand) song lyrically. I am not insulting it... the more genius the lyrics are the more people can relate to them. And I can perfectly can relate to it and understand it... And it's kind of obvious he does not mean what you said. I am not saying your interpretation is bad. But looking at the whole context of the song it's obvious what he means. Take a second look at it.
i actually meant it....
its called attention not intention those are completely different words ;)
And this is the actual comments not the replies m80 ;)
ladies. and. gentlemen.
2:22-2:43 my life
PUMPKINS!
"The work that works for me might not work for you"
he is maybe talking about jobs that he can do but that "you" can't do
"no homework"
because he isn't at school anymore
" i got work to do "
he is talking about his job
that what i understand ^_^ sorry for making myself look like an intention whore
well that ain't the solution, it's all about hip-hip becoming a star from their dreams. but you see it's all about who's hotter, but then/or she became the star or just a person . so looking at the that perspective then it's much worster or just better in a way .
"Thanks!"
1:46 lol
also listen to the alan cross linkin park artist profile. good info in there.
you're a moron. he has always been talented. they all were you want to know why LP and FM are huge? a man down at Warner Bros. convinced them to take a chance in the band, and it was their collective talent that made them huge. he had been making hip hop for more than a decade before hand and when LP took off like it did he didn't really have time to make hip hop anymore. so when they were having label issues he took the opportunity to make hip hop again. that's what happened. watch the makingof
man what are you talking about... are you stupid? this is his thing LP didnt give this talent to him on a golden platter like your making it out to be...
he did not break off this is his side project he has been writing lyrics and rapping before LP
That's odd, you appear to have switched statements.
Meteora, LP's second album, was released on March 25, 2003.
The Rising Tied, (this album) was released in 2005.
No they aren't stupid...Nobody claimed he got experience outside LP, and nobody said it was Fort Minor that made him successful...all they are saying is that they wanna see more FM and that they enjoy FM's music more than LP's...are we reading different comments? :S
are you stupid xD mike learned from him self LP was just adding fire to the flame LP is rock not rap 2 diff types of music man
LOL
This was released after Meteora.
LP started in 1996 (as Xero). This is from 2005.
He actually is, just featured a lot of other artists, Primarily S.O.B.
Fort Minor was a side project of Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. There wont be a 'comeback' unless Mike wants to make another album.
Mike Shinoda is not the whole ''fort minor''...
"The work that works for me might not work for you, no homework, I got work to do"
Now that's just dope.
12 people no taste !
the BEST!
the tabla is fun to this song!!
yea, true :P
and Tak
I like how all of these comments are branching off of "kkleproso" comment
Linkin Park is Mike Shinoda + Chester beggington and 2 or 3 other guys, Fort Minor is just Mike & Mike only well him and occasionally Styles of Beyond but besides that LP dosent equal FM, and the music styles are completely diffrent too.
We don't sleep to dream. We sleep to build stamina. FUCK YEAH!
Sort of.
Fort Minor is a side project of Mike Shinoda, who founded LP.
Aside from that, no one else from LP is involved with FM.
I have to disagree, Mike alone = Fort Minor, Mike + Chester = Linkin Park, those two have LP's back up, so yeah you get the picture.
I’m gunna have to disagree. Linkin Park=Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington, Dave Farrell, Brad Delson, Rob bourdon, and Joe Hahn together.
Fort minor and Lupe fiasco is WTFGOOD
