I'm here because when I was a teen in the mid 00's we didn't have MP3 players, we all used CD players. It was midwestern Kansas after all. So I grubbed my hands on any CD I could, and my mom had a "Greatest Hits" for Foreigner. That's where I first heard this.

Senior year of High School 1978- I drove a 70 Mustang with a factory AM/8-Track- No FM. I had a case that held eight 8-track tapes., sat btwn the bucket seats as this was before they started putting arm rests/consoles there.- This was one of the tapes. Hearing it made me have some serious flashbacks. God I wish I was 18 again lol

Early Foreigner was a very interesting mix and mystery. The sound of his voice versus the synthesizer and, the clavinet is very strong. The guitar just kind of lays back there and Rifts away. And the real Missing Link is the incredible saxophone playing of Ian McDonald. He was the secret weapon of early Foreigner

For those that may not know, this song is about Lou's trip to audition for the band in New York City (the apple in decay), from his hometown of Rochester (small town) - knowing this puts the entire song in context...  :^)

Friend of mine bought this on 8 track back then and the idea was Foreigner was going to save rock 'n roll. When I heard the second album and Hot Blooded, I knew that they weren't the answer. Punk music was the answer. This and Feels Like The First Time hold up pretty well.

Primarily about Lou Gramm leaving to join the band who were mainly British (remnants of Spooky Tooth & King Crimson) but moved to the states, "I left a small town.." (Rochester NY)
..for the Apple in decay!" (NYC) yeah, it wasn't a "nice clean" city back then!
