Ford, Robben - Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying Lyrics
Don't let the sun catch you crying,
crying at my front door
You done your daddy dirty
and he don't want you around here no more
lying at my back door
You done your daddy dirty
and he don't want you around here no more
You can cry, cry , cry
Yes, and baby, you can wail
Beat your head on the pavement
Hey, till the man come,
land you in jail
Don't let the sun catch you crying,
lying at my back door
You done your daddy dirty
and he don't want you around here no more
You can cry, cry , cry
Yes, and baby, you can wail
Beat your head on the pavement
Hey, till the man come,
land you in jail

Great cover of a Louis Jorden song. https://youtu.be/aue-m0BY0q4
This is a great track (track #5) from an album called Robben Ford & The Blue Line: The Authorized Bootleg on GRP Records. It was recorded at the club Yoshi's in Oakland California and released in 1998. It's from a "real" CD. You still may be able to purchase it (Amazon...Robben's website?), but I haven't checked. It is all "unplugged" and the performances are beautiful.
Well the track is both at Tiger Walk (as 1st bonus track of two, track #11) and The Authorized Bootleg as track #5, both albums released in 1997. I know it, cause I have both :-)
On my dark horse must haves -- really inspired vocal performance -say what you will Robben is the REAL thing-- no efx - straight from the heart - honed and owned - his OWN MAN from the start with Charles Ford and everything in between- always brings it
It was written by Jerry Marsden and made a hit by Jerry and the Pacemakers around 1963.
That's a completely different song, but with the same title. Both great.
Beautiful tune, actually it is not in the Tiger Walk album, its on the Unauthorized Bootleg, an unique collection of his best songs played in an acustic live concert. Enjoy!
I see..thanks for the info..I would like to get a copy.
It's a bonus track from a reissue of it
Tiger walk is all instrumentals....this is not on that album.
There are different versions of Tiger Walk. The CD version marked "special edition" had two live bonus tracks as #11 and #12 with this as #11. I still have this CD today :-)
Wow, awesome performance. Thx!
