For The Fallen Dreams - Dream Eater Lyrics

And so the story begins of where I started my life,
I made the best decisions molded on the way I survive.
And as the years go by I'm tested what I will be.
Will I stand the test of time, or will it make a better man of me.

I know what kind of man I can be,
I've let the simple things
Pass by and never let it get the best of me.
There's so many things I have seen and it's never taken a piece from me.
Live life, find happiness and never look back on the life you were meant to lead.
Never look back.

I never wanted to live like this.
I never wanted to live this life alone.
I've made a path that I'll never forget.

Times are getting darker, because there's so much to do
And there's so little time to right the wrongs.
This is the life that I was meant to live,
There's not a thing I would change. I'm vindicated
And I swear I will make this worth my time.

And so the story continues I'm aware of what I've done,
Too many simple things have soiled all the things I believe.
And as the years go by I'm tested what I will be,
Will I stand the test of time or will it make a better man of me.

This is who I am. I didn't choose this, I was chose.
Never look back.

I never wanted to live like this.
I never wanted to live this life alone.
I've made a path that I'll never forget.

For The Fallen Dreams Dream Eater Comments
  1. j.... O....

Wow my mind is blown didn't realize garret was in this

  2. B.... H....

2017 and still bumping. This album is so underappreciated.

  3. A.... G....

This reminds me of older Bury Your Dead, especially the verses and the way the chords are structured.

  4. T.... W....

anyone else get a James Taylor vibe from the vocals? <3

  5. T.... W....

anyone else get a James Taylor vibe from the vocals? <3

  6. G.... C....

The best album since changes hands down.

  7. t.... ....

These guys are going to go so hard live

  8. S.... ....

I know most might say only a handful of songs is good on this, but I enjoy all cause in each song I can relate to most of he says throughout the album.

  9. n.... ....

Most of this sounds like Jim though. It's so hard to tell Jim and Garretts voices apart sometimes lol

    n.... ....

@noskilz04 You'll easily tell Garrett's part easily. "This is who I am. I didn't choose this, I was chose."

  10. j.... ....

This has nothing on changes... shame

  11. Z.... U....

    aeeeeeeeeeee

  12. Z.... U....

    So good

  13. j.... ....

I'm glad to see them staying to their roots

  14. B.... T....

It's better than Wasted Youth, but that's because it's average FTFD. That's not a bad thing, it just sounds like it'd fit comfortably in Changes or Relentless (aside from that Garrett Rapp cameo) instead of being something that sounds newer.

  15. S.... H....

Great song! But I think the person on Rise Records YouTube channel should probably learn how to spell, before writing the lyrics down for us lol.

  16. K.... ....

    Gengar!!!

  17. L.... C....

    Is that Garrett Rapp?

  18. L.... C....

The only difference between now and when Dylan was about is the dynamics of the vocals. They both write and sing about the same stuff. Musically the band is exactly the same so really its more of a focus on the sound that was already there. Not a good thing in my opinion but thats just me!

  19. W.... B....

    The Reason I hear Core-Music.

  20. A.... S....

Lmao I'm sorry but some of the words the vocalist says are funny

  21. D.... x....

    i actually lost faith in ftfd for a bit till more of there new album came out which makes me happy because honestly i love chad and all but in my opinion dylan made ftfds just different like every album had something to it that made it amazing. i wish this album came out already holy fuck ;-;

  22. A.... S....

Fuckin lyrics dude fuck very inspiring thanks guys its bands like this that change the world :)

  23. L.... G....

Chad takes this band back to their roots. Which has always been their best music imo. So glad he's back. Dylan was taking them down the fan-girl-sound road. Glad he's gone and Chad came back. Always been a huge fan of these guys.

  24. I.... G....

    Legend and FTFD<3

  25. A.... L....

Dang it FTFD Y U SO GOOD!?

  26. D.... H....

    The cleans are not necesary

  27. T.... M....

For The Fallen Dreams is my favorite band. It's so sad that Dylan quited.

  28. D.... :....

This song grows on you :3

  29. t.... ....

Those who disliked this are the retards that thought the replacement for the current vocalist back in 09 was the best thing for the band. No This guy was great in Changes, and this album should be just as good as Changes!

  30. T.... ....

So much better than emerald blue

  31. B.... ....

    WATCH LATER.

  32. T.... V....

The best song from this album so far, this is IMO better than Emerald blue.

  33. Z.... A....

    i can dig this!!

  34. J.... M....

Dylans vocals and lyrics to this music would be amazing.

  35. H.... ....

Just when I thought this song couldn't get more awesome, Garrett Rapp sneaks in and makes it more awesome!!!

  36. J.... ....

Love it. Brings me back to the old days.

Remember where you came from, and never forget your roots, boys.

    J.... ....

Changes will forever be their best album

    J.... ....

    Get over yourself, josh

    J.... ....

Yes, Chad Ruhlig is a LGND. His lyrics cut deep

  37. C.... K....

I love this shit. It's fucking awesome

  38. T.... F....

I just wish bands could decide how it sounds how it's played etc. But that's my opinion

  39. M.... G....

I feel like Garrett's part was unnecessary.

  40. J.... C....

Is this the song with garrett from TCM?

  41. J.... A....

Maybe I'm being nitpicking but it sounds a bit overproduced to me. I like this better than emerald blue though and I'm super stoked chad is back.

    J.... A....

@Killtrox You're right about production being essential. And Rise has a bad track record (at least I've noticed it more in these past 2 years or so) of what seems like mass producing these cookie-cutter, insincere, wishy-washy bands that all seem to adhere to this same old formula Rise Records has dreamt up as being what metalcore fans want to hear.

    J.... A....

I totally agree with you. Have you heard their wasted youth album? I was digging a few songs but everything is way overproduced in my opinion. I'll have to give this new album a listen, sounds sick so far but relentless is my favorite from them

    J.... A....

@Mario Persico I really liked their Wasted Youth album. Had some pretty heavy shit and it really felt like it knew what it was trying to say.

    J.... A....

@Reed Lobbestael I still enjoy Wasted Youth to some extent, but the sound they were going for was not popular amongst fans, most of them didn't like it because it was so poorly produced and because half the album sounds like a pop punk-deathcore hybrid that wasn't what FTFD had released in the past. The production value is horrid, everything is muffled by too much low-end frequency, and the vocals sound too raw to blend in with the compression of everything else. As for the music itself, No One To Blame has to be the worst effort I've heard from this band. I thought I was listening to a Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! B-Side. That being said, I think that Resolvent Feelings, Living A Lie, Always About You, When Push Comes To Shove, and Pretending are all excellent songs and could've been well-executed in the right engineering hands. Tom Denny is just a cunt for what he did to that album.

    J.... A....

@Killtrox Exactly, if that album was produced better, I would love it

  42. l.... ....

singer at 2:22 onwards sounds like garett rapp

  43. x.... ....

    Really digging the guitar

  44. P.... ....

Holy crap! That was amazing. I'm loving metal this year so far

  45. n.... ....

What is the pedal used in the background? 2:28 and so on?

  46. B.... ....

    Better than emerald blue

  47. S.... ....

I liked the cleans. By far the best part of the entire thing.
The verses were boring as fuck.

  48. Y.... L....

So stoked on this! Chad Rulig is back?! So tastey as always. Loving this FTFD.
    -Devon

  49. B.... D....

Just saw this song as a recommendation. How long has this band been out?

  50. G.... A....

This song is making me want to buy this album on vinyl

  51. d.... ....

At 2:18 that sounds just like Garrett Rapp from The Color Morale, that's crazy

  52. w.... w....

Holy shit! This is amazing! I'm actually pretty siked for this album!

  53. T.... J....

Wait, is this a different vocalist?

    T.... J....

    @Tyler Jaynes no prob haha

    T.... J....

They might have been talking about Dylan, who is not the original vocalist tho

    T.... J....

@Aidan Nixon Ruhlig is not the original vocalist but he was there way back on Changes, though.

    T.... J....

    @Aidan Nixon
He's the second and fourth singer...

    T.... J....

    @CHEW BRAHCUH 3rd & 5th

  54. T.... J....

I'm loving the harder growls. Has more passion to it

  55. O.... Y....

    Get em' chad!

  56. h.... ....

Rise, please put Ft. Garret Rapp in the title of this video.

You are so quick to mention features that contain Tyler Carter, so why not return the favor to another amazing vocalist?

  57. l.... ....

it doesnt sound generic to me tbh. it sounds like FTFD to me. Fuck you

  58. T.... W....

Garret from TCM was most likely featured on this. His singing is really unique and distinct, plus even the lyrics he sang in this song are lyrics from Know Hope. "I didn't choose this, I was chose". Whether he wrote the guest part or just sang on it, I'd be seriously surprised if he wasn't featured on this. I might be wrong so don't start being cunts

  59. R.... L....

That album art is sick next to MMI

  60. M.... I....

Sounds a lot like Bury Your Dead on Cover Your Tracks albums, aside from the clean vocals and melodic choruses of course.

    M.... I....

I definitely do hear that. Glad im not the only one that knows that band haha

  61. H.... ....

I can hear some the ghost inside influence I'm this !! :) fucking awesome stuff!! Definitley gonna grab the album

  62. R.... M....

Who the hell do they employ to write the lyrics up? Not only are a lot of words missed out, but they can't even spell... "Ment"... what the hell does that even mean? I swear, in almost every walk of life, people are becoming worse and worse at things... Time for some Gene Pool Cleansing i think...

  63. A.... M....

Just sounds like Chase hit 'reboot' on the whole FTFD deal, I like.

  64. A.... M....

Much better than the first song released. Also Garrett Rapp is the man

  65. J.... D....

    best band on rise records?

  66. B.... W....

    Is that jim singing

  67. m.... ....

holy shit this crushes any track off the Memphis May Fire album ,i actually like this track MMF let me down but these guys picked me back up lol

  68. D.... H....

Me parece que no eran necesarias las voces limpias, pero a pesar de todo me vista este nuevo FTFD.

  69. G.... ....

    Yay it has cleans =)

  70. P.... S....

    DYLAN RICHTER IS A WOMAN.

  71. A.... B....

So much good metalcore is coming out lately! First I Killed The Prom Queen, then Prepared Like A Bride, Architects and now For The Fallen Dreams. Awesome stuff from talented bands!

    A.... B....

    Gragas listens to metal xD

    A.... B....

@Mario Sousa I was just gonna say that hahahaha

    A.... B....

Everyone should jam Prepared Like A Bride!

    A.... B....

@Roberto Nieves I can understand if you dislike these bands, but saying they're bad is profoundly ignorant. I Killed The Prom Queen and Architects are classic bands with excellent pedigree, Prepared Like A Bride's "Overcomer" is a fucking inspired masterpiece, and For the Fallen Dreams are finally coming into their own. I think it's an excellent time to be a metalcore fan. I'm sorry if you dislike the music, but I find it difficult to objectively say any of the bands I mentioned are mediocre musicians, songwriters or performers.

  72. J.... A....

I feel like the band is releasing singles that sound like they could be taken from (or added to, technically) each of their albums.

    Substance - Changes
    Emerald Blue - Relentless
    Dream Eater - Back Burner

This is just my opinion, but Dream Eater sounds like Back Burner more than anything they've released since that album.
And if my theory is true, I'm not too excited for their 4th single that'll sound like its from Wasted Youth.

  73. L.... T....

    Vocals sound ridiculously processed..disappointed Chad

  74. D.... p....

Meh. I dno after wasted youth it's hard to get into this band anymore

  75. N.... A....

sometimes i just feel like its mostly a breakdown.. the other songs are good though

  76. m.... t....

    YAY THEY ARE BACK! <3

  77. M.... ....

As much as i liked Dylan in the band i also enjoyed Chad. This is probably the best stuff he is putting out with this band. Dylan's cleans were good and all but this is more unique and not as much cleans and more screams. Much better sound i say.

  78. A.... ....

Is that garret? Because those are his lyrics? Haha "I didn't choose this, i was chose"

  79. l.... ....

awesome, happy for ftfd to creating stuff that's fresh and original (not that they ever haven't). the snare-chorus at the end is really awesome, definitively a unique touch. can't wait for this album to release!

  80. A.... S....

That's The Name Of A Pokemons Move "Dream Eater"Used After Your Enemy Is Asleep.

  81. S.... W....

this album is going to be the heaviest FFTD yet!!!

  82. A.... A....

Amazing <3 Enjoyed this better than mmf new stuff, just wasn't feeling it.

  83. t.... d....

    \m/ \m/

  84. D.... N....

I remember when they first started out as a Christian band. They've changed, but I like it.

  85. W.... ....

did i just hear garret rapp ? O.o

  86. J.... ....

    mhmmm *drools*

  87. T.... ....

This is what for the fallen dreams should be. This has the same feeling as the first 2 albums and i love it!

  88. J.... N....

    Solid 8/10

    :)

  89. d.... ....

    omg garret !

  90. o.... ....

There is nothing more generic than a comment talking about being generic

    o.... ....

@owningall It doesn't have to sound different to be good. You are correct, but it is not even fun to listen to IMO. It is boring.

    o.... ....

@Ben Lindblom Fair enough. Opinions are awesome!

    o.... ....

@owningall Lets go get some burritos

    o.... ....

    @GruesomeTuber lets

    o.... ....

    A fucking men

  91. f.... ....

Everyone bitched for years to bring chad back, hes back now everyone bitches to bring dylan back lol..just listen to the damn music its awesome! If you dont like it, you can always press replay on the old records

  92. M.... ....

Not a big fan of this band, but holy fuck does this make me want to scream, shout, and fist the sky.

    M.... ....

    You can fist me.

  93. S.... A....

Yup, then as usual all the diehard For The Fallen Dreams fans come and spam me crap for that comment, yet give me no reason to believe that they aren't. Don't tell me to grow up because I insulted your favorite band. Tell me to grow up after you explained to me why FTFD isn't generic.

Oh, and go check out ERRA and AristeiA. Those are some really good, unique bands.

  94. D.... T....

Lol to everyone saying this is generic. They released Changes in what, 2003? They've been doing it since 2003 so they're not the generic ones. Back then they were doing this and it changed the scene. It's not bad, I'll still listen to it but Changes will always be the best.

    D.... T....

Changes came out on January 2008. lol

Other than that i agree, this is FTFD's typical sound back again after 2 albums, which completely satisfies me.

    D.... T....

Whoops, I don't know why I put that hahaha.

  95. a.... r....

Fuck auto correct screwed up my comment

  96. a.... r....

I don't care what any of you say chad is a beast band has always badass representing Michigan

  97. i.... ....

Please bring Dylan back in the band... :(

  98. S.... G....

Are these lyrics about a Pokemon trainer?
