Foo Fighters - See You Lyrics
These notes are marked return to sender
I'll save this letter for myself
I wish you only knew how good it is to see you
See you, see you
Uh uuh uh uuh uh uh uh
Uh uuh uh uuh uh uh uh
These steps I take don't get me anywhere
I'm getting further from myself
One thing is always true
How good it is to see you
See you, to see you
Uuuh
Uh uuh uh uuh uh uh uh
I'm done resenting you
You represented me so well
And this I promise you
How could I end up in the hands of someone else?
These notes are marked return to sender
I'll save this letter for myself
I wish you only knew how good it is to see you
See you, see you
See you, see you
See you, see you
See you, see you
Uuuh
Uh uuh uh uuh uh uh uh
Uh uuh uh uuh uh uh uh
Uh uuh uh uuh uh uh uh
Uh uuh uh uuh uh uh uh

The harmony in this song is beautiful
Imagine that song for your door bell... So each time someone comes that the song you here
the best song off this album... ibwas fighting between track 11 wind up oh god and the other one...
Reminiscent of the mid period beatles...
By far the best song of all of this whole album...
I guess if someone else heard it said it and did it it will be done again... But the phony beatlemania was like the death of nirvana because grunge had to die...
And if I get this right I might know something... Kurt was advised 6 weeks before the Grammy awards ceremony and probably fought with the Mrs about it and that's why he wore what he did to it...
Same reason Eminem wrote that song about sitting next to karson and Cristina and about primus and sticking two nine inch nails through both of his eyelids...
Very nirvanaesq
(edit)
Gotta specify in the "see you" section of the song. The rest sounds very foo
Quote from Dave: "Just another pop song. It was the one song that nobody wanted to put on the record, but it's my favourite song. I think that the only reason it ended up on the record was that I re-did the drum track to make it sound like 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' by Queen."
Nobody wanted it on the album? Damn. It's my favorite next to "Everlong"!
@fl0nk11 I know! I think it's because they didn't feel like it fit their sound at the time even though its a great song. This is from 2016 Dave Grohl but I think it still makes sense: "..and then I'd write something beautiful and delicate and think well that's something else, that's not a Foo Fighters song [...] I thought for years that what we do is something really specific and I didn't really want to go outside of that because I felt like it was the perfect place to have it. So, then maybe 10 years ago I thought 'Lets see how wide of a playing field we can work into' [...] I know that the Foo Fighters are capable of doing things that people have never heard us do"
This one's a real earworm. I find myself singing it all the time.
Sorry but this isn't a song about affection or love, it might have different meaning to some of you but listen to the lyrics closely, it's about someone desperately trying to establish contact with a former partner.
"These notes are marked return to sender" his letters have been returned as they were unwanted.
Repeating how good it is to see them because his other methods have failed.
"I'm done resenting you, you represented me so well", the initial anger and resentment he felt towards his ex has turned into denial.
"How could I end up in the arms of someone else?" He tried to move on - couldn't. Also confirms this is not a platonic relationship and not a current relationship, otherwise it wouldn't be in question whether he'd "end up in the arms of someone else."
"These steps I take steps I take don't get me anywhere I'm getting further from myself" he's trying to change - can't. He did something his ex didn't like and is trying to show he is trying to change.
He seems somewhat delusional or convinced that by seeing his former partner face to face he can seek their forgiveness. So this is someone who's being manipulative or is desperate, not exactly a love song.
Clifty exactly
Never really analyzed it but i think you're correct. I'll still interpret it the way i always have though, to me it's a fun song. Thanks for dropping kniwledge
This song will always remind me of a lost friend. Without them, I would've had the number 2007 carved into my headstone. Sadly, they passed away a few years ago at the grand old age of 23. I only came on here to see what other people's experiences and memories of this track were. I vowed never to listen to this track again after my friend died.
TheMysticDave - how are you doing now pal ?
Definitely a lot of Beatles influence in this song! Love it!
does anybody know what effect does the electric guitar have?
octavechords Some clean modulation with the tiniest bit of reverb
and some leslie too ;)
this is pop done right rock bands are really the greatest at making music
VirtualSpoof I know you said that 4 months ago but this is not what I consider pop tbh
Brendan Tygesson what? foo fighters = popular music. don't know how this is not pop
Pop: verse chorus verse, a catchy tune with a good hook. A pop song. Nothing too technical. It's not all that electric bs you hear on the radio. Beatles? Pop. Nirvana? Pop. The thing is, Nirvana and Foo Fighters were the best at balancing pop hooks and melodies with heaviness
this reminds me a lot of 'KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See'
+Kuda. weird, guess it's the chords
Classic
Everyone keeps talking about how they think of their GF or BF when this song is played, but honestly it sounds like more of a breakup song or a rejection song.
It really reminds me of Big Me.
I like this type of Foo Fighters
the song has a break in the middle and it sounds like clapping or pee in the toilet :)
Or a 7th graders representation of masturbating
This song is definitely inspired by black hole sun by soundgarden
I unashamedly love this song.
Every time I have had a hard time, a hard day, a hard moment, when I get home to see my love, when I really need to see someone who cares about me, who does not judge me, but only welcomes me - I think of this song. This is one of the most unappreciated encapsulations of relief and fun, release and pleasure towards your special someone, when you have come home from any difficult journey.
Kudos Foo Fighters, when you were in your prime.
With so much negativity in the world, this stands out as a moment of joy. Let everyone who hears this - enjoy it. And hug someone.
This song sounds VERY Nirvana.
+James Wilkes actually, dave himself said what he was trying to achieve with this song was to make a similarity to "crazy thing called love" by queen
sounds like foo fighters, and only foo fighters
GOOD ONE! Are you being ironic??
@Sheio
I think he was referring to the "see you"s
I really thought the same about the song in that certain section, but definitely not through out the entirety of the song.
@Sheio
Sorry, I know your comment was like 4 years ago lol
Sounds like Beatles songs. This is AWESOME)
Yup. Dave loves the Fab Four ^_^
Yess!! That's exactly what I thought!
Dude i know right
gonna add this to my pub set :)
i wish u only knew how good it is to see you.. ;)
How good is it to hear you.....Still my favourite band after all those years, they held me up even if the worst i have been through, and made me smile...
My wife walked down the aisle to this song. The first notes always make me tear up a little. Love it.
@David Pascoe i just wanted to say, everytime i hear this song, i think of this comment from when i first saw it nearly a year ago. I fianlly bought the CD and this song is playing and i always think of a happy groom watching his wife walk down the aisle and it really touches my heart. it's beautiful and always makes me smile
Yes, I imagined it would be that one. Heh, it must've triggered something in our minds. Nostalgia, I'm guessing.
We're both weird. The beat reminds me of "Bear necessities"
Hmm, it reminds me of... Windows XP.
Weird.
Sir Caco reminds me of my town in 2005-2006 for some reason lol
What is this song about? Great song !
Good song, but WHY am I reminded of the Jungle Book when I hear this song?
I've gotta have more cowbell
Foo Fighters is a very famous band. So is very cool to liesten an 'unknown' song of them while everybody talks about 'The Pretender', 'Best of You' or 'Walking After You' :D
BTW, Foo Fighters is my favourite band :)
I love those "unknown" songs by popular bands that are so good yet no one knows about them

The only bad thing about yhis song is that is to short :(
NotAnEpicGuy It's perfect, I think. No point dragging it.
@skoi87 the fat of the land by the prodigy im adding to that list
1997 was such a great year, the colour and the shape, whats the story morning glory, ok computer, final fantasy 7 just off the top of my head
@brucy9 reminds me of a fun fair on a UK pier !! lol
For some reason, the sound that comes in at 0:16 always reminds me of the sound you hear in the Beatle's songs that Ringo sings. Idk, thats just me.
i fucking love this song, wish it was longer :(
I love this song!
This song is so fucking happy. I just want to sing.
I'm 14, I've been listening to this song for as long as I can remember because my parents play it, and I swear it just gets better and better each time I listen to it. Thanks for posting <3
Do you still listen to it?
@0foofighter0 dont you mean you assure him? implore means to beg
Grohl has gone down, imo , in songwriting.
i am new to foo fighters! I just bought the colour and the shape. this is a great track! Part of my cd seems to be skipping even though i ordered it new from amazon. i need to send it back and get a new one.
anybody know the strum pattern for this song cant figure it out?
Underrated gem.
I just unwind with this song...
Cover your mouth with your hand
2. Make a wish
3.Close your hand (fist)
4. Hold your hand at heart for 5 seconds
5. Send this to 3 more videos
6. Tomorrow will be the best day ever
it actually worked
Money- you will find a wad of $200 in cash
Love- Your crush or lover will kiss you or ask you out
not to deride you, but why do you cut off the end of the songs?
