Folds, Ben - Don't Change Your Plans Lyrics
Sometimes I get the feeling
That I won't be on this planet for very long
I really like it here
I'm quite attached to it, I hope I'm wrong
You're the reason I wanna stay
I loved you 'fore I met you
And I met you just in time
'Cause there was nothing left
I sat here on my suitcase
In our empty new apartment till the sun went down
Then I walked back down the stairs
With all my bags and drove away
You must be freaking out
All I know is I gotta be
Where my heart says I oughta be
It often makes no sense, in fact
I never understand these things I feel
Don't change your plans for me
I won't move to L.A.
The leaves are falling back east
That's where I'm gonna stay
You have made me smile again
In fact, I might be sore from it
It's been a while
I know we've been together many times before
I'll see you on the other side
But don't change your plans for me
I won't move to L.A.
The leaves are falling back east
That's where I'm gonna stay
All I really wanna say
Is you're the reason I wanna stay
But destiny is calling and won't hold
And when my time is up I'm outta here
All I know is I've gotta be
Where my heart says I oughta be
It often makes no sense, in fact
I never understand these things
I feel
I love you, goodbye
I love you, goodbye

Folds, Ben Don't Change Your Plans Comments
Someone pointed out that this song was one of Ben Fold's saddest songs but to me it sounds so optimistic and comforting and really knows how to cheer me up on a bad day.
I feel like this is their best album.
It's unfortunate that no one else at my school cares about this kind of music. In chorus, all the girls are singing Ed Sheeran songs and others that they claim to be "beautiful." Those songs have nothing on any of the songs Ben Folds has worked on.
I miss Ben Folds Five!
I saw him live a few years ago, and he was more "bangy" than I expected.
All I really wanna say is........the greatest living songwriters are Sir Paul and Ben Folds!
This album came out when I was in the 9th grade. I was the weird kid who would sit at home and listen to this while everyone else was listening to Limp Bizkit or Sisqo's Thong Song. Guess which of the above stood the test of time? In fact, it has more meaning now then it ever did for me back then. Thanks BFF!
Every time I hear this song I picture Kermit The Frog singing it.
omg now I'll always see that too :D
Reminds me of falls in the Ivy League...
i haven`t heard this song in at least five years and it's impressive how the lyrics are still on my mind and how they make more sense than ever. Love it. Such a great band!
Sarah O. Best part of the song starts at 1:57-2:48 ...imo😀
to lebron "dont change your plans for me, i wont move to LA"
*Plans, not Plan
Yet another musical adventure provided by one of the best
Just sounds like the best of Billy Joel. Should be that the classic often played on radio but you knovv hovv corporate thinking goes.
I miss my Mrs

Cameron Bell RIP, brother. I'm in love myself. I'll keep your Mrs. in mind and hug mine extra tight. I'll buy the first round when we we're all eventually brought together again.
My ex-girlfriend would argue over the best Ben Folds Five album...this one being her choice, and mine being "Whatever and Ever Amen" Her, being a few years younger than I am, caught on to Ben Folds Five a few years after I did...so there is the difference in opinion. I'll never forget though, while showing me this album...she introduced this song as sung by Kermit the Frog..and then sang it with her best Kermit impression. No one who has heard Rainbow Connection, can deny that Kermit could cover this song any day of the week! <3 Ben Folds Five!
Was the recording from a tape? You can hear the hiss sound. You can up load to youtube but you can't get a CD?
Dave B it is by design
Good song, haven't heard it in a long time.
1:56 FTW. So amazingly tragic and wonderful.
this is singularly there most ambitious album. I know a guy that can quote Shakespeare faster than your head can spin.
love this song
I love you....Goodbye .
I get the lyrics to this song stuck in my head all the time, even though I haven't listened to it in probably a decade until tonight. Some songs just fit your life. <3 Thanks for the upload.
Ivy League Autumns...
Had to leave a comment because otherwise I would just be thumbs-upping every single comment on this page.
this was the only CD i took with me to the States. most amazing CD, most amazing band.
By far, the greatest band to never have six-strings in their mix!
Never heard Emaline? ;)
This song gets me every time. .. ...
Love this album so much. I just get drunk and sing along....
Yep... :)
Absolutely 😊
Gone Ben folds
Ben Folds best album. I think I am the only one in the world who thinks that. I wished it would have been a huge success. I wonder where the band would have gone?
@Luke Seefeldt Well I would say this is a great album, I wont say its the best. (MY OPINION, I RESPECT YOURS) I would say the best (ONCE AGAIN, IN MY OPINION) has to be Whatever and Ever Amen. Truly a classic.
+Luke Seefeldt For me the first half of this album is their best work. Unfortunately, I just don't like the songs after "Army" nearly as much. For overall quality I've got to go with Whatever and Ever Amen.
+Luke Seefeldt Esoteric music for an esoteric bunch. If your friends "got it" they probably wouldn't value your opinions so much, Luke.
This one is almost their best IMO. However, it's not quite as consistently genius and catchy as their debut, Ben Folds Five. To be fair, I don't know how one could top an album that kicked off with "Jackson Cannery" and topped it all off with "Boxing," sandwiching a whole slew of classics such as "Best Imitation of Myself" and "Underground" in between.
My dad and I did a massive road trip when I was 10 to tasmania from Newcastle, nsw and all we listened to was this album on tape, it's so nostalgic for me and reminds me so much of tasmania for that.
you have made me smile again, in fact i might be sore from it. been awhile
Ok so I got in a fight with itunes over this track having an audible fault at 3:49. but it appears to be the song itself. Huh.
It was an on-purpose edit. (Y)
This song still gets me. 13 years later.
This song played when I moved out of my exes. He almost changed his plans for me 3 good luck in Seattle.
in the same boat currently with my gf moving to seattle
A friend just told me that she listened to this song a lot after a divorce.
I still like the overall sound of Ben Folds FIVE more than Ben's solo work. There's something about Robert's bass style and Darren's drums that just are the cake to Ben's ice cream..... they're not as great as they could be without the other.
Precisely.
What a beautifull song !!!! Love it since i was a little boy :)
Some girl just changed her plans for me. Thanks Ben.
Thanks for posting this great song!!
I came here to listen to a Ben Folds Five song, not to be delayed by an Obama ad! >=i
in the end... he said good bye ;-;
You know, this song says something personal to me. I understand what it's like to love someone but know in your heart that it wont work out. Ben Folds said it better and wrote it better than I would ever have been able to put into words... "It often makes no sense, in fact / I never understand these things I feel". I know that feeling...not quite understanding the situation, but finally getting it. "I love you, good bye." That's what I said...so moving...
Absolutely my fave Ben Folds song... such a haunting melody and melancholy lyrics.
Ben folds five are back!!!
It does get Bacharach indeed :) :) hehehe... @jcgamer107 -well found!
"I know we've been together many times before. I'll see you on the other side."
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I sat here on my suitcase
In our empty new apartment
Until the sun went down
Then I walked back down the stairs
With all my bags and drove away
You must be freaking out
this sums up one of the most crushing emotions anyone can ever feel. This song is strangely beautiful, and hauntingly dark. Pure genius.
This whole album has some of the best lyrics i've ever heard. Ben Folds sings from such an honest, and sometimes hopless, place. Not to mention the haunting melodies, it's a shame he no longer creates work of this calibur.
damn i hate when i hear a song on the radio(heard this on the radio) i was wondering who it was and i said ahh its ben folds five but no i had to look it up and look what i got XD im so lost
Man, this is so good! Thx, hp!
