Foghat - Sara Lee Lyrics

Sarah Lee, can't you see,
Why I'm cryin' like a child.
You had your fun, but what you've done,
Has made me mad and drove me wild.

You used to be, good to me,
And now your always raising sand.
And it's so strange how you've changed,
And now I don't know where I stand.

Well I went down to the roadside,
When your wheels began to turn,
I called your name, but you just drove away, yea
Time's I wonder, will I ever learn?

Sarah Lee, look at me,
See those lines upon my face.
I'm so confused and I been abused,
I can hardly stand the pace.

The things you did and the truth you hid,
They caused me pain and misery.
And there's no doubt, 'cause I checked it out,
You've been double-crossing me.

Well I went down to the station,
I saw you step onto that train.
But someone else was close beside you,
Now I wonder will I see you again?

[Rod - Solo - verse, verse, bridge]

Sarah Lee, can't you see,
Why I'm cryin' like a child?
You had your fun, but what you done,
Made me mad and drove me wild.

But Sarah Lee, can't you see,
See those lines upon my face?
I'm so confused and I've been abused,
I can hardly stand the pace.

    M.... ....

    Yes .. definitely

  48. l.... ....

I was in training at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS from Sep-72 until Mar-73.
This LP was popular at the time. In the early evenings, after our studies were complete, we'd climb into our buddies 1968 Delta 88 convertible. We'd cruise through the DeSoto National Forest with the top down. The moonlight cut through the tall pine trees lining both sides of the road. This tune could be heard blasting through the big box speakers our buddy installed in the back seat. Those were the days.

    l.... ....

I was stationed up the road in Pascagoula for most of 70. We used to go to the EM club at Keesler. Pascagoula wasn't a base.

    l.... ....

Never thought about writing about the time spent in AF tech. school. Thanks for the prompt!

    l.... ....

Yep!! me too. good memories I was driving a 66' stang!

    l.... ....

i USED TO LIVE ANNEX ONE AND WE WERE TEEEN AGERS and we would come on base to play the pin ball machines and ping pong games at the base , we could go into vandemburg hall and listen to full albums of zep, , you guys in the serviced were so good to us and we would see you study in the laundry areas, it was an experience to see how successful people made it, with you guys work ethic;)

    l.... ....

Thank you all, belatedly for your Service! Non Sibi Sed Patriae! Ooh Rah!

  49. P.... W....

Another underappreciated, obscure even, rock classic. This song brings the house down every time I play it. Long live Lonesome Dave, Roger, Tone, and Rod the Slider!

    P.... W....

You do know about Dave and Rod both being dead, just sayin.

  50. A.... N....

This is rock and roll, man!!!!!

    A.... N....

+Auriemma NEED to VENT Oh yeah!

    @santiagobenites  :D :D ♫♪♫♪

  51. D.... B....

Did GnR get their chords for Paradise City from this song? Hmmm...

    D.... B....

Dottie Black it'd be the other way around this was over ten years before that song

    D.... B....

Dottie knows that. Hence the question.

    D.... B....

Reo Speedwagon - "Roll with the changes" too...

  52. m.... y....

the best song by fog hat

    m.... y....

you cant do that, there are so many

    m.... y....

Yeah, I picked this one too. 45 years ago! We used to play all this stuff in bars. Those were the days and nobody told me!

  53. D.... S....

    this is badass...

  54. J.... K....

    Lonesome dave!

  55. R.... F....

august 1972 went to a midnight show at the majestic theatre in dallas to see jeff beck and these guys opened and nearly stole the show. those were the days...

  56. R.... H....

somebody please post trouble trouble by foghat
    much gratitude much positive memories
about foghat and all their name changes
    Miss guitarist lonesome Dave Edmond
    A great poet &guitarist

    R.... H....

Guess i forgot damn strokes anyway

    R.... H....

+Rick Hurlbut Edmunds was a producer and did play guitar on this album but he is very much alive and still rockin'

    R.... H....

It's Dave Peverett, Dave Edmunds is still kicking

    R.... H....

yeap one of the best foghat songs, i believe it was written while the guys were known as savoy brown, but two daves here, dave edmunds was their producer and did some session guitar work, dave prevertt aka lonesome dave was founding memeber, lead vocal and 2nd guitar, mostly rhythm
did do some lead licks, passed away back around 2000, fyi the amazing
slide guitar and flawless solos were rod price's work, RIP (way under rated)
you can see where skynrd and molly hatchet and even guns n roses were
influenced by foghat, charlie huhn (humble pie and ted nugent) catches lonesome daves energy in todays foghat band. Brian bassett almost
(no disrespect, brother you're a damn good guitarist yourself) plays with
same slide feel as big slider rod price. Just my opinion, but tony stevens
needs to be in same discussions on best bass players ever! rite with all the other older english bassist, entwhistle, jpj, jack bruce, and that canuck, whats his name? getty lee, lol.

  57. R.... E....

Blast from the past right out of the dash!!

  58. s.... b....

    classic rock forever! Timeless.

    s.... b....

+sheila ball It's the blues that made rock so good, and yes, this is timeless!

  59. m.... ....

    Awesome!

  60. H.... ....

Awesome Southern Rock song (from an English band of course but that's OK)

    H.... ....

Hell I guess If you're from Canada you would call it southern rock. Foghat evolved from Savoy Brown. Were they "ENGLISH"? How old are you?

    H.... ....

@none I wouldn't take you more than 1 or 2 minutes to find out that all 4 of the original members of Foghat were from England. Ever hear of Wikipedia? Or if maybe if you try the encyclopedia Britannica if you think Wikipedia is lying.

And I know Southern Rock when I hear it.

    H.... ....

@HonkIfYouLoveHonking Did you read his whole reply? It's only one sentence, or do the Parenthesis cause you brain farts? Any way I see the man's point. You and the guy above your reply, none, must be related.

    H.... ....

@True Grit He said that unless you're from Canada it's not "southern rock" I said it IS. He claimed they weren't English. I said THEY ARE (as is Sayor Brown btw). He wrote THREE sentences, not ONE and he didn't use a parenthesis.

Are you sure you're not the one with brain farts?

And just what was the point he made that you see?

    No we aren't related.

  61. D.... ....

IMO The best song they did..

    D.... ....

i agree, but theres much more if you dig deep...the first four records

    D.... ....

DarkSim77 I agree bro, my favorite Foghat song

  62. b.... ....

Thanks so much for posting! Been years since I've heard this one. This is the "sleeper cut" and by far the best song on the album IMHO. A snapshot of a young band in their prime before superstardom sold them out

    b.... ....

buellosaurusrex thanks land shark, what you shared with all took me to the zone with the goose bump, first love, shot, smoke etc.... Rock &rollfill in the blanks, bravo-zulu.downriver Dave/Detroit!
