Fogerty, John - Someday Never Comes Lyrics

First thing I remember was askin' papa, "Why?",
For there were many things I didn't know.
And Daddy always smiled; took me by the hand,
Sayin', "Someday you'll understand."

[CHORUS:]
Well, I'm here to tell you now each and ev'ry mother's son
You better learn it fast; you better learn it young,
'Cause, "Someday" Never Comes."

Well, time and tears went by and I collected dust,
For there were many things I didn't know.
When Daddy went away, he said, "Try to be a man,
And, Someday you'll understand."

[CHORUS]

And then, one day in April, I wasn't even there,
For there were many things I didn't know.
A son was born to me; Mama held his hand,
Sayin' "Someday you'll understand."

[CHORUS]

Think it was September, the year I went away,
For there were many things I didn't know.
And I still see him standing, try'n' to be a man;
I said, "Someday you'll understand."

[CHORUS]

Im actually happy to see some people dislike this. Those people don't deserve this caliber of music. Let them have the tasteless trash and we can enjoy the best. More for me

When I first heard this song I repeated it 20 times on Pandora then bought it. I didn’t get dealt the best hand growing up and when I heard this song I had more in common with it than anything I had ever heard on the radio. My father never taught me what I should have learned and he kept telling me someday you’ll understand- hes a good man who got on the wrong path to drugs and alcohol and trashed everyone including me on his last drunken tirade. Because of all that I left him and am now trying to learn what i didn’t learn fast enough. I truly hope Someday will come for me.
I’m not trying to seek attention or look like a bitch I’m trying to put a message behind this- if something is wrong do something about it. Get away from the people who give you pain and if they don’t teach you find someone who will. They will give you a someday that will come, believe that.

i always remembered my dad listening to ccr when i was younger and i always liked it. my dad didnt really connect until a few years ago and it was amazing and we began to appreciate each other. he was a vietnam vet and i remember learning from him to always welcome them home because they were denied that. i cant help but cry now when i listen to this song, my dad took his life 12/8/19 and i miss him so much. i love you dad.

Why is it that some videos are made by people busting their butts with motion videos or slide shows along with their original songs, and still only get a small # of views. And some easily-made videos have just a still photo, along with a pre-recorded song, and because it's a popular tune, it gets millions of views? Where is the justice?

  14. N.... T....

Peace and love to us all. Love CCR very much. Best wishes from England.

I believe it's based on a true story of John Fogartys life, his father left home when he was just a kid

That's why songs like this have a lot more emotion and depth both musically n lyrical

And Father told me if I save up 100 pennies I'll have a dollar. Always save up pennies. Not dollars. Wise analogy. It takes more patience and perseverance to save pennies to get a dollar. With a dollar bill you only have to make an effort once. With pennies you have to put forth an effort 100 times. A good lesson in patience and not getting what you want without hard work. Not everyone's father was as wise as mine. Period. He believed in hard work.

    M.... G....

An old timer told me: watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves...

Even at 16, I am already starting to see why many other comments for this video talk about how someday truly never comes. My parents are divorced and are now both remarried, some of my siblings have a lot hatred for each other, and I have dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts most of my life, even at 4 years old. Sometimes I just think about how unfair this world is. Some people stay rich, others stay poor, some live long and others die young, some people are lucky enough to have a really great family and others never knew a family life without pain, it just makes me break down sometimes. This song hits me so hard every time, not only because there are so many things I truly don’t understand in this world, but also because it’s simply a great song by an incredible band.

  87. J.... A....

I’m sorry but if you Dislike this song, I don’t want to know what you Like.

  91. W.... G....

Someday Never Comes" is simply a song about my parents undergoing a divorce when I was a child and me not knowing many things. When my dad left me, he told me to be a man and someday I would understand everything. Now, I'm here basically repeating the same thing really. I had a son in 1966 and I went away when he was five years old or so and again told him "someday" he would understand everything. Really, all kids ask questions like "Daddy, when are we going fishing?" and parents always answer with "someday", but in reality someday never comes and kids never learn what they're supposed to learn. -John Fogerty

  92. M.... B....

CCR, were American rock n roll at its finest... That music and era will never happen again... Mediocrity was intentionally fed to us certainly since their 911 dual citizen false flag fiasco... At least the 90's gave us those somber artists, yet brilliant, Fiona Apple, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Counting Crows, Duncan Sheik, Paula Cole, but then it got weird, boy bands, and now this sh*t...

  93. S.... H....

Dad today your gone 8 years. And im still trying to be a man. I long for the moment to see you again. God bless you for being a amazing human being. RIP my beloved father.time doesnt heal this wound

And what of this nation if we can't find peace and blessings and prayers that put no one picked on only up , peace is what the sixties wanted and music was there thought all heard it and we all have learned from it, let's not forget nor repeat errors of past.
