Florida Georgia Line - Black Tears Lyrics
She puts on her work clothes, fishnet panty hose
She's got a nickname everybody knows at the gentlemen's club
She clocks in at midnight, even though it never feels right
Makes her money one dollar at a time
Without the makeup, nobody knows her name
Black tears, rolling down
From the eyes of an angel in a sinner's town
She reveals, and they all cheer
Then she cries, black tears
Jealous of the innocent, sometimes she's convinced
The boss man is still a friend she needs
She's tried everything, cheap sex and cocaine
Anything to hide the pain for a little while
You can tell she knows it when she cries
Black tears, rolling down
From the eyes of an angel in a sinner's town
White lights on the mirror
Just won't hide, black tears
She tries and tries so hard to get away
But everybody's watching
Black tears, rolling down
From the eyes of an angel in a sinner's town
If all the pain could just disappear
She'd quit cryin', she'd quit cryin'
Black tears

Florida Georgia Line Black Tears Comments
Off tempo stop! Speed it up dammit
this group sings this better I think
Put jasons music behind fgl on this song it would rock more than it does now. I love them both!!
Florida Georgia line was the first to sing this song Powderfinger wrote a song with the same name but it's not the same song and Jason Aldean just covers this song
Frst time I heard it was on XM Nashville 57. Love that station. Then they took it off. Drop XM after that.
Base Kuhn they had another song on there by someone about a kid in college going to his cousins farm to work and ended up selling pot. I wish I could remember the name!
who cares who came out with this song first. both Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia line are amazing
skins2006 thank you !
Yup! And they’re cool with each other. Saw them in concert together
skins2006 agreed
Know what I love?
When people stop complaining and enjoy music.
So much pain in this song but yet the lyrics are beauitful
This song came out 2 years before jason aldean, dumbasses. Just use google "album release date" before making a fool of yourself, acting like you know it all.
Jamesta James
your wrong two different songs with different lyrics
Not when, in an interview on CMT Top 20, Jason Aldean said they wrote it and he copied it/covered it.
Jason Aldine sung this song first
No FGL Covered it in 2010 then Jason Covered it in 2012
this song reminds me of my mom
neither of them wrote the song. they are both covers
Jason aldean don't write much of his music
Trevor Statler that's a lie
Trevor Statler but he sings it good lol.
@Dustin Teal It's true. He hasn't wrote a song since his second album.
Jason aldean sang it better
Lane Blount nope fgl did
Absolutely correct. FGL can't hold a candle to JA.
Not really, its a sad song and FGL has kind if a sad voice so its perfect for them
my son loves Florida Georgia line
I think fgl did it better...this broke them into main stream...way better than their new stuff
back when FGL was actually country
back when FGL was actually country
FGL is country & bro-country
they are pop music now
Jason Aldean's version is WAY better than FGL'S. I think FGL should give the song to Jason.
I think it is his song
@kyiah Stephen oh ok cool
No it was first fgl this song came out way before Jason did it
Jason Aldean's is better
no sir you need help
This song is really from Jason Aldean
All of y'all saying Jason Aldean did this first.... NO HE DID NOT. He covered it.
You're wrong. They wrote it, and Jason Alden made a cover of this song...
it is on his album night train I think but Florida Georgia line did it better in my opinion
An Australian Rock Band named Powderfinger wrote it in 2007, Florida Georgia Line covered it it in 2010 and Then Jason Aldean covered it in 2012
YOU ARE WRONG
I think this song is about a striper. If you carefully read in to the lyrics you can tell.
ding ding ding! Bigg winnnerrr
jbob787 it is lmao
STRIPPER. LOL
No shit
Heaven Shall Burn did it better.
I'd be pissed if my stripper was crying. Be like u want my money back!
you're obviously an idiot .
Justin Watkins you have no respect for women and your stupid she should take all you money and you should leave her alone
Tyler Hubbard co-wrote ‘Black Tears’ with another new kid on the country music scene, Canaan Smith.
Brantley gilbert knows how to write some good songs like dirt road anthem
I like this version because it's the original, but there are some songs where I enjoy the cover more,i.e; I like Blake's version of grandaddy's gun better than rhett Akins and Aaron Lewis' version
Jason Aldean did this song originally
Fgl wrote it. But it didn't really make it anywhere until Jason Aldean recorded it.
+patrick gallmeyer FGL did this originally but the aldean version ain't bad.
That's such a sad song :(
jst to let everyone know tyler hubbard wrote this song and let jason alden cover it
Jason Aldean sings this so much better!
i love this song, but i have to say i love jasons version better
this is them but jason aldean also does this song too
Bull crap that ain't even them
haha i thought it wasnt either but its on itunes to with their name. Plus they dont have their exagerated high pitched country accents
yes it is them
yes it is them. Been listen to them sing this song for about 6 or 7 years
NO ONE can sing this song better than FGL
They didn't write this. I saw the guy who wrote it at grand ole opry
Sorry I meant "better"
Jason Alden has a netter voice for this song but regardless of who sings it is one of the most beautiful, heart felt, and endearing songs I've ever heard
This song was written by Florida Georgia Line, sang at every concert in their earlier days and then sold to Jason..... I asked them why they sold this song as this song is what turned me and many others on to FGL back when they were getting their start on "The Highway" on xm radio...they stated to me that there is no greater honor than to write a song like this and have it recorded by an artist such as Jason Aldean.
Jason does it better but still a good song
jason aldean sings this song n if I dont like country music dont comment
and why didnt you wanna leave... THE MONEY .. even in my most desprate days with being a sinlge mom of a year old boy and me being 18 no matter what anyone said i couldnt do because this song and because everyone had told me once ur and entertainer its hard to walk away because of the money, my heart goes out to you darling.
not to mention , once your put in a place of the meaning of the song youd understand, some say they get the message but do u really?
I have known many woman in this exact situation. Even if they try to leave, unless she moves a long way from the town she was working in most companies will not hire her. Its truly not fair to the women. If they do try to move in most cases there past catches up to them anyway as they usually don't have the skill set to work in another industry and dancers can pick out a former stripper in a second and then ostracize them.I only know a few that made it out and all of them had help from someone that understood and say more than the job.
This song is absolutely amazing. I used to be an entertainer in multiple gentleman's clubs and the hardest thing to do is to leave. Once you do though, you no longer cry at the shame. Life takes you down the road that will make you the strongest.
I love how people spout off that this isn't a Florida Georgia Line song....funny last time I checked Tyler Hubbard was one of the writers and gay ass Jason Aldean isn't anywhere to be found....also this was released on their first EP back in 2010 so maybe do some research before you open your mouth next time
A lot of artist don't write their own music. This is not the first time this has happened. I like FGL, and think they did a good job with this song, but I think Jason Aldean does a better job with this song.
Where did this come from?
Lets be clear, most singers don't write their own music.
the writers make the money in the long run..
Listening to both versions back to back, i really like FGL's more. though both are excellent artists.. Reguardless the message is key, thats why i like it most. All country music, well most, is about the meaning of the songs and actually have meaning other than just being loud. Songs are stories told in magical ways!
this aint their song
you will never truely understand how meaningful this song is until your put in the situation .
this song really hold alot of meaning to me, i work in a gentalmens club but not as an entertainer, when it came down to me and my son being kicked out and got told if i wanted to continue to work where i was id have to be and entertainer , i think of this song and i didnt do it i walked out and, although i was down i new a better oppertunite would come my way, i could never be and entertainer , .this song hold alot inside the song , and idc who sings it , its an amazing song .
Most main artist do not write their songs any more...so start bashing all of them including Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, and even Garth Brooks. I hate people like you because you do not put out all the facts typical
I like this better then Jason
But Jason MADE them hits! nuff said!
Good job on your vid this song is one of those songs that has a meaning not just garbage about getting some and getting high like all the new songs out
Such a good song very heart felt story
FGL sang it first. If y'all would've heard it first it would be your favorite. I'm a HUGE Jason fan, but he doesn't capture the pain and feeling like FGL does. This was the 1st song I ever heard by them. They're still incredible!
Jason aldeans sounds better but I love FGL :))
It fascinates me how so many of the comments this video are about whose versions better, FGL or Jason Aldean's.... Completely forgetting or ignoring the original message this song has to send to its listeners. It's a beautiful song no matter who sings it, not to mention powerful at the same time. I love this song. And the message, holds dear to my heart. And for the record, FGL is better.
Jason's butt fucks this one
Oh I almost forgot "Amarillo Sky" originally Done by McBride and the Ride.. He has made a career on songs that other people recorded first... Cant he record original music??
@Haylee.. Have you ever listened to Jason Aldean?? His songs "Dirt Road Anthem" and "My Kinda Party" were originally recorded by Brantley Gilbert. "The Truth" was done by Trent Willmon, "This I Gotta See" was done by Andy Griggs... "Johnny Cash" was originally done by Tracy Byrd... "Asphalt Cowboy" was originally recorded by Blake Shelton... and like you mentioned... Florida Georgia Line did Black Tears.. I know there are more, I just cannot think of them right now..
that's whats wrong with people these days they don't understand that other artist here these songs because the writers realse them to the record labels so they can be heard and make money for them to make a cd or just write because they cant sing no one stole the song and fgl is getting money for the song
Agreed! But, i like this one just a little more (:
right on man !!
Everyone has their own opinion. Mine is that both are good in different ways.
FGL is great but their voices aren't made for this kind of song... Jason's voice is so soulful and does this song more justice I feel.
i like fgl but jason aldeans version is way better
I prefere the HeavenShallBurn version. :D
I don't care if she's black or not! Watch your mouth. Don't call a girl a bitch man there aint no need for that crap.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT COUNTRY MUSIC BITCH GO TO LIL WAYNE.
People have the same reaction to Brantley Gilbert songs. Yes, these smaller artists write the songs, but the love it when someone covers it. It gets people to Youtube to listen to the song, then they find this version, and discover them. It's how I found Brantley Gilbert and FGL both.
Gotta have Steel Guitar
To everybody saying "leave well enough alone" it wasnt Jason Aldeans song to begin with it was florida georgia line. this is the original. The boys of FlGaLine were really stoked to have someone of Jason's status cut this song. There is no "leave well enough alone" when they arent the ones covering it. Just saying
Safe and sound cover by terabrite. Listen to that than rethink that haha.
Jason aldeans version is better i think
I love this song but Jason aldean does a better job by a long shot some people should just leave well enough alone
great song! sad that it has to be so real for people but really good song
This could easily be turned into a rock song.
personally i think the jason aldean version is better, thats just me
Okayy thank you (:
this one is the original version
This version is the original.
i would not say unknown.......
I like both versions but id like to know which is the original...
colt ford put Bg on and he's been writing song for 10 years and he worked his ass off to get to the top no one helped him, Jason just got the rights to those to songs because as a song writer you have no control over who gets the rights to a song you cut
how do you think brantley gilbert got big?? jason cut my kinda party and dirt road anthem. and brantley is gonna be twice what aldean will ever be!!
BG NATION!!
Jason Aldean actually writes a ton of his own music. It just so happens that his most popular songs are written by more unknown country artists like Colt Ford, Brantley Gilbert, and Florida Georgia Line ;D
God no.
Y'all are the best! <3
Florida Georgia Line is my favorite country singers besides Brantley Gilbert & Jake Owen. <3
I love their verison it is original and Jason's is too new for me theirs is rustic and I love it
don't diss songwriters, i always used to but when a song plays on the radio, only the songwriter gets a profit, not the singer, also, some people can write amazing songs but cant sing and some people can sing but arent very good at writing songs, thats why we need people like jason aldean, who sing things written by other people. you wouldn't diss someone selling something for not making the item, so dont diss singers who dont write their own songs.
Jason Aldean Does this song better
No he doesn't "buy" them, Brantley Gilbert has a video about the process, a sertain amount of he proceeds goes to the writer its kind of like leasing it is how I can best say it but watch his video on it.
I love Aldean, but I also am a huge fan of these boys. i think it's fantastic that Tyler could sit down and co-write a song like this and Jason really did a fantastic job on his album with it. Artists should write their own music but the truth is that won't ever happen.
FGL makes this song sound so much more real, and heartfelt.
People only think Aldean did this better because his production value was so much higher.
Wow aldean really he is a good singer dnt get me wrong but for once he needs to write his own damn songs
Their all friends, BG, Colt Ford, FGL, Jason Aldean, believe me I know, I'm friends with Colt Ford and FGL.
