The first time I listened to this I was driving home after visiting my parents - the ending chorus played just as I rounded a bend on the highway, and the setting sun streamed beams of light through the clouds in that way that only summer seems to do It felt like I was driving into the rest of my life and the rest of my life was going to be GOOD, so filled to the brim with light and love. Florence has always has a way of releasing an album right when I need it, and High as Hope couldn't have come at a better time. Forever grateful I discovered Lungs when it released all those years ago.

There is one big problem with this song.It ends.

The moment I heard the chorus for the first time I was overcome with emotion, this is probably the most beautiful song I’ve heard.

yeah 2:49 and on is killer -soul-melting, the quiver in her voice refracted by the belting solo. The problem is the 60+ second beginning, the explanation of the idea of the song, the delivery was like two bros talking trying to trivialize something very deep that needed no explanation. I don't need sense, I crave raw emotion. This song delivers that after 2:49...and anywhere the chorus plays before 2:49. Love dying needs no preface it's so human, everyone gets it.

I'll see Florence perform next week and she won't allegedly sing this song and I sad/mad about it. One of the bests songs of the album

Pablo Rg It’s a beautiful song about Florence’s confusing and chaotic life mixed together in one; grandmas suicide (jumped off a balcony in New York due to manic depression when Flo was 11), parent’s divorce, breakups, anxiety, family problems, the inability to love passed down from her grandmother to her mother to Florence, getting ghosted by a man who tells you he loves you etc etc. She said that when she became sober and turned 30, her whole life started becoming clearer and she started understanding more, like the aftermath of a shipwreck or a flood and looking at the wreckage and pulling things out and picking them apart and understanding what on earth had been happening in Florence’s life now that the storm is over (being drunk and suffering through the aforementioned problems). It’s about piecing together her chaotic and past life and her trying to figure out what went wrong, what happened and why it happened. That is what The End Of Love is about.

This song is so technically perfect. I cant belive it each time i listen to it. I have to check myself that i'm hearing it correctly. The string intro is hauntingly anxious from the pit of her stomach. Followed by the bittersweet unrequited uplifting chorus. Layer after layer of florence's choral voice like a harmonic spiritual tide.
I can't think of a more accomplished arrangement (Pink Floyd breath maybe close).
This song is channelled from somewhere else. Not from this pale reality. It has the touch of the creator.
