My big brother loved Flogging Molly. He died in 2005, and this song was played at his service. I use to cry hearing it, but now it never fails to put a smile on my face. Such a great song.

lost mine as well. 2 things i know: you don't get over it [ & don't let anyone tell you otherwise]. what does happen though is -- you get used to it. that's what you work towards.
Takes about 3 or so years. first year is a fog where time stands still. lean into the pain and grief. accept it and embrace it. it's your journey now. grief, is what love gives you after loss. the deeper the love, the greater the grief and deeper the pit of despair you feel you are in.. but know the sun is always just behind the clouds. and it will shine for you again, one day.
i used this metaphor to help my kids through their journey: imagine your life as a precious work of art, a fragile yet beautiful glass sculpture. then one day, you find your priceless art, you, your life, lays shattered on the ground, in a million fractured pieces. I'm sick a lot. And have always known I'll die before everyone I love. When I'm sick bad and am depressed feeling close to death. This song helps me to think, it'll be okay and I can come back down and sit at the feet of my true love when I go. I may cry the whole song but it helps. Makes me cherish the people who love me. And truly thank them for the things they did in my life. However long or short it turns out to be.

My sister's girlfriend passed away a couple of weeks ago. I know we're part Irish but she's there only one that looks like a damn leprechaun lol, short with green eyes and bright red hair.
