Fleetwood Mac - Woman Of 1000 Years Lyrics

Woman of a thousand years
How are your sons of a time ago
Do they still admire your silvered ways
As you go down
To the sea and golden sand
You may be seen up in the sky
And from the land
Or floating by, a fisherman's day
Flying down from a high
She is gone, and then appears
From the water's edge
Woman of a thousand years
He waits to see you...
You may be seen up in the sky
And from the land
Or floating by, a fisherman's day
Flying down from a high
She is gone, and then appears
From the water's edge
He waits to see you
For it has been long since you left him
On his own to wander
Woman of a thousand years
How are your sons of a time ago
Do they still admire your silvered ways
As you go down
To the sea and golden sand

The best era of Fleetwood Mac; not the most commercial but what great music!! Thank you Danny for many mellow nights listening to these albums.

Beautiful, haunting song. One can feel as if they are flying above the sea and shoreline. A perfect song painting !!! Timeless.

  6. M.... T....

Reminds me of "White-bird" - It's a Beautiful Day. Or "White Rabbit" - Jefferson Airplane. Or even "Silver Tightrope" - Armageddon.

    M.... T....

Silver Tightrope is a song I just love.

  7. N.... N....

This song feels like gentle waves of water, flowing over you, glittering in the sunlight.....💜

Great song and future games a great LP as is bare trees by Fleetwood Mac

  13. J.... A....

Sounds eerily like Planet Caravan. Wonder if it was inspired by it.

  14. T.... M....

its like looking through a beautiful crystal, with rainbows in all directions, so many colors, and so soft, haunting, and lilting, with such a warm guitar sound that it almost burns you a little bit if you could touch it with your skin....."magical" , no other word for it really......nothing exists like this sound today...Danny was a genius.....

  15. I.... M....

This song is bewitching... I can't stop listening to it. Thank you Danny Kirwan for this treasure.

  19. C.... B....

One of the finest albums released at the beginning of a HUGE decade of music. Turn out the lights, put on the headphones and, let it carry you away.

  20. F.... J....

    Hermoso tema!!!

  21. S.... F....

Played this album alot along with Bare Trees .

  22. B.... W....

One of my all time favorite LB liked it so much I have worn out two vinyl versions

    B.... W....

    same here

  23. T.... ....

This is part of the richness which was rock 'n' roll in the late 60s and early 70s: a panoply of voices and styles and characters of music that I'm not certain is present to anywhere near the same degree in current music at all.

    T.... ....

Troubleshooter125 A verification of this is that we are listening to and finding fulfillment from these albums so many years after they came out.

  24. P.... J....

By far the best Fleetwood Mac album. Kirwan's lead in this era made such great music. I only wish he could have lived a happier life to enjoy his success as we did/do.

  25. H.... ....

This is a song that on first listen, you swear you've heard it at some point in your life. Maybe as a child, on a slow, partly sunny day that created colors that left an imprint in your brain and memory. And if you didn't, it doesnt matter. Those goosebumps you feel prickling your skin and the blank, awed expression comes from something whispering to you that this, right now was the time you were *meant* to hear it.

    H.... ....

    This & Jewel Eyed Judy

    H.... ....

    Lol okay.

  26. P.... T....

At 3:51 starts a magic journey trough a mediterranean river in a very small boat, laying and looking at the soft sun.....

    P.... T....

A Mediterranean river in the North of Spain where the golden slanted sunrays glitter gracefully on the sapphire surface while you float between eroding canyons that stand firm over the narrow waterway.

  27. D.... B....

This is the real Mac -- not the Nicks/Buckingham group.

    D.... B....

@Jose Gomez Having said that, Danny Kirwan was in the band at the same time as Green and Spencer for a while, to be fair.

    D.... B....

I saw THIS Fleetwood Mac. Please scroll to top to see which concert.

  28. I.... M....

Oh how I love this album. Use to listen to it often when I was 16. This song makes me feel like I'm on a cloud..

  29. g.... m....

Rest In Peace, Danny Kirwan. Was hopeful Guitar Player magazine would offer a tribute. Email linked to this song. Been too long since i spun this disc but a beautiful example of Danny's work.

    g.... m....

exactly what I have been thinking. We can only hope Danny's legacy will reach more people, and I think it can yet.

  30. T.... R....

Danny Kirwan wrote and played so beautifully. His vocals were haunting. Thanks for the memories Danny. RIP :-(

    T.... R....

    Yes, so true.

    T.... R....

I'm fortunate to have seen him perform this

  31. D.... ....

What a beautiful song. You will be missed, Danny Kirwan.

    I.... R....

I totaly agree, a bit like when Mick Taylor was in the Stones that was their golden period

    I.... R....

@Harry Hole I think more like Brian, a troubled individual with unique musical ideas.

When they got along.?..Danny (RIP) and Bob Welch (RIP) harmonized their guitars, and complimented each other on a number of epic tracks.....

take that, id like to see some of these so called "music artist" today match this, let alone the whole l.p, still fleetwood mac in the blues years was fantastic.

    s.... p....

steven peat . This is the Fleetwood Mac I loved . The originals. Many people aren't aware of this . Before Nicks / Buckingham turned them into pop.

    s.... p....

Music isn't created from day to day and year to year as a tool to taunt the music that comes after. There ARE songs out there from present time that I find a lot of depth and meaning in, and whether or not I like some cheesy pop song or not, maybe it's just not meant for me. Maybe it's a young man's inspiration to ask his crush to the 8th grade semi-formal, or a song a group of teenaged girls hated until it came on the radio and they all found themselves singing in unison on their first ever, no-parents overnight beach trip in their bffs beat-up truck her brother let her borrow. From then on, every time those songs comemon, the couple is going to think of their first dance, or one of those girls hears that tune come on the radio a decade later, and has to pull over so she can post a quick vid of the song blaring, yelling "thinking of my beach babes!" Gets posted, bffs tagged, and whether or not they've all been in close contact or haven't gotten together in ages, they all hop on to sing along.

We have no right to get old-man/lady finger-waggy, defining their growing-up as meaningless because "OUR stuff was better, so nyeeeh!" Let them have their youth, their own set of generational connections just like we did. Maybe if the older generations thought what they wanted but smiled over young people getting to be young, they themselves won't inherit the attitude of being better than THEIR kids, and we can break this ignorant, pompous cycle... seriously, as Rilke so wisely said, "search into the depth of things."

    s.... p....

    @HoneyNVinegar
Man! That was a good doobie to come up with all of that!!! Hahaha! I'm teasing! Actually you're right. I see the younger generations reminiscing to songs I never heard before... and realize it's the same for them, as it is for me and F.M. Funny how time passes but we all stay pretty much the same through all generations of time and throughout all eternity.

    s.... p....

@1allanbmw hah, well, while I AM in Massachusetts and can have myself a puff or five without repercussions, wasn't high while writing that. Just a writer. 😉 if I HAD been high, it would've been complete gibberish as I forgot everything I'm saying as I'm saying it when I'm high, lolol.

my father turned me on to FM with Peter Green -thanks dad x
I was lucky to see Green live. I really dig the blues. However, this is my favourite FM album, it sounds magical & haunting, almost like grieving the loss of..

    D.... D....

yes It is GREAT, Christine's voice is so melodic , love this era, Kiln House another really great one.

    D.... D....

It's Danny. He and Peter were great complimentary inspirations to each other. But this is post-Peter, Danny's wonderful perfect-pitch tenor. A great blend of traditional English folk and California dreaminess. And we have to give props to Mick's grounding percussion
