Fleetwood Mac - Murrow Turning Over In His Grave Lyrics

All the sainted sinners
They pay handsomely
M S C A E they make the weapons
And they run the prisons
And they sell the justice
'Cause being guilty is just good business
Well we're standing out on the borderline
Ain't no one here gonna stop it now

Murrow's turnin' over in his grave (Murrow's turnin' over in his grave)
Ed Murrow had a child the damn thing went wild
Murrow's turnin' over in his grave (Murrow's turnin' over in his grave)
Ed Murrow had a child the damn thing went wild

Half-closed eyes and unconscious death
Do you feel the ooze as your brain drains out
From the pneumatic drills and sharpened knives?
Blood in the sky are you dead or alive?
All the restless people and the bitter green
Well, it takes the gold makes the spirit mean

Murrow's turnin' over in his grave (Murrow's turnin' over in his grave)
Ed Murrow had a child the damn thing went wild
Murrow's turnin' over in his grave (Murrow's turnin' over in his grave)
Ed Murrow had a child the damn thing went wild

Musically and lyrically this track is a hot mess. Too much echo/reverb - it sounds dreadful (music solo's aside, maybe). Though had the potential to sound awesome - you can hear the great track under the hot mess 🤦

It's called 'noise rock' and showcases their versatility with different genres. Noise has a way of growing on you, maybe someday you'll start 'getting it' too 👍

I think it's genius, personally. This entire album is so diverse and this piece is a great representation of how talented Fleetwood Mac really were/are.

Lindsey Buckingham has said that the song was written to reflect his belief that Edward R. Murrow, an iconic journalist in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, would be greatly dismayed by the present-day media.[4] Murrow was a great believer of honesty and integrity in delivering news to the people of the world. He said "to be persuasive, we must be believable; to be believable, we must be credible; to be credible, we must be truthful

You answered my question: what the fuck is this song about

  21. W.... W....

The last 90 seconds or so - astonishing.

    W.... W....

Well, Lindsey is known for his guitar solos (there was once an incredibly lon g onr for a live performance of I'm So Afraid that I recall being 9 or ten times longer than the song (don't qoute me in that)

    W.... W....

I think you may be referring to the solo on the Fleetwood Mac 'Live' album.

    W.... W....

@Atomic Robo Tesla you're correct. That I'm so afraid solo was beyond words.

  22. A.... C....

This album is one of their best I think.
