Fleetwood Mac - Dust Lyrics

When the white flame in us is gone
And we that lost the world's delight
Stiffen in darkness.
Left alone
To crumble in our separate light
When your swift hair is quiet in death
And through the lips corruption thrust to still the labor of my breath
When we are dust, when we are dust
When we are dust, when we are dust
When your swift hair is quiet in death
And through the lips corruption thrust to still the labor of my breath
When we are dust, when we are dust
When we are dust, when we are dust
When the white flame in us is gone
And we that lost the world's delight
Stiffen in darkness
Left alone
To crumble in our separate light
When your swift hair is quiet in death
And through the lips corruption thrust to still the labor of my breath
When we are dust, when we are dust
When we are dust, when we are dust

I've seen Fleetwood Mac in concert twice. The first time was on March
17th, 1972, the British Are Coming/Bare Trees Tour (with Long John
Baldry and Savoy Brown), and the second was on October 23rd, 1973, the
Mystery to Me Tour (with Wishbone Ash). Both concerts were at Pershing
Auditorium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Words cannot adequately convey how much
my wife and I enjoyed these two concerts. I know this though; when I
pass on, I'd like to have "Dust" and "Danny's Chant" played at my
funeral. Peace, Blessings and Grace to all.

Hi @Leon Donnelly. I'm so sorry for your loss. I never met Danny and only knew him as a fan through his music. The gentleness of his soul comes thru in his music which he left for all of us. Pretty hard to beat that kind of legacy for mankind. Blessings, peace and grace.

Rouffillac1066 Hi there, thank you. Yes, I’ve been going far deeper into Danny’s music since he passed and I’m amazed by its depth and beauty, particularly in so short a time. A very different Danny from the man I knew and yet I see the threads & connections. I’m reminded of conversations we had late into the night on the nature of creativity, life, the spiritual world, and comedy. We had lots of points of interest in common and they formed the basis of our friendship. I had been an actor, director, playwright and clown myself and Danny was fascinated with acting, comedy and clown. I’m also a very good person to tell a joke to or do a magic trick to so naturally I’ve always made friends with joke tellers and magicians, from childhood. There are some things I have learned from listening to Danny’s music that help me understand him more. The Danny I knew was very strong in himself, he’d clearly been through a lot yet he was in no way ‘broken’. Some people find great strength and refuge in humour. Danny was always laughing or telling a joke. Unless we were speaking seriously and then he was fully focused on whatever the issue was. It’s great listening to all these old recordings, finding new dimensions to an old friend. Quite staggering. I’m making a compilation of Danny’s work and I keep changing my mind on how to approach it. I will keep listening and see how I might best represent what I hear. I agree with you on Danny’s legacy.. to have left so much beauty to the world is a grand thing and a life well lived. Well done Danny.

Leon Donnelly You were born in 1964 so how is it you were such good friends with Danny Kirwan! There are no pictures of you with any celebrities on your Facebook page! What are you gaining by lying on Facebook and YouTube??? I pray that someday you find the help that you need and that your YouTube video is taken down! You may have been friends with a Danny Kirwan but it wasn't the Danny Kirwan from Fleetwood Mac! Some of the greatest music came from your country and i think that since you weren't a part of it you have created these delusions that you knew some of these people! Stop lying to people and be a man!

I didn’t discover this song until after Danny Kirwan died. I discovered at a time in my life when it hit me like a ton of bricks. It’s a beautiful piece of music. Danny put music to Rupert’s words like they were almost meant for each other. Rest In Peace Rupert Brooke and Danny Kirwan.

    “Dust”. For Danny.

I recorded this tribute to my old friend Danny shortly after he passed. Danny was great company and a very funny man. A brilliant musician too. Very sadly missed.

I remember hearing this on kfml radio Denver when it came out. I miss this sound and the feeling it gave me. God rest Danny Korean.

John Hearn, my taste in music was shaped by KFML these many years ago.

    J.... H....

KFML -- Wasn't that an obscure AM radio station from the mid 1970's? I remember listening to the "Rock Pile" show on Sunday mornings. The station was VERY underground. You only found out about it by word of mouth.

    J.... H....

Greta Holdheide, “obscure?,” I’m not so sure. It started out as AM only, but they added an FM station as well. It was a true “Free Form” radio station: rock, blues, bluegrass, jazz, country—whatever the DJ wanted to play. The music genre generally fit the time of day, i.e. something like English folk-rock in the morning, bluegrass in the early afternoon, rock or blues the evening.

    Tremendous song!
