Fleetwood Mac - Cold Black Night Lyrics

It was a cold black night and the rain was falling down
Cold black night and the rain was fallin' down
I went out lookin' for my girl, I knew she wasn't nowhere around

She left me early that morning, with a suitcase in her hand
She left me early that morning, yes, with a suitcase in her hand
And she took off on a train this mornin' and she was meetin' some other man, yes

She used to treat me real good and I wonder why I didn't treat her right
Yes, ah, you know I wonder why I didn't treat her right
And now all I can do, is walk those streets both day and night

"Without her you may not have ever even heard them at all" . . . well, except that I had all of Fleetwood Mac's albums prior to the women joining the group. ;-)

I do like all incarnations of the band though.

  15. M.... C....

Hearsay, and particularly vindictive at that. Best to put a sock - in - it under those circumstances

@notsovelvet I am soooo glad to hear that. He should be teaching guitar or finding other good musicians to form a band with. And he should be claiming back a few Million £££ from the present FM band as they played a lot of his songs in the 1970's. I don't think they'd miss it. And Jeremy too.

  17. S.... R....

@notsovelvet So very good good good to hear.....from Austin TX .... long time fan

Shame on you Mick Fleetwood, what sh*t you make on these days, by the same name as these masterpieces.

Shame on you Mick Fleetwood, what shit you make on these days, by the same name as these masterpieces.

TheWillinger - there’s only one Fleetwood Mac I’ll ever acknowledge, but you’re right about Mick Fleetwood, he erased that great Blues band from ever having existed by transferring their name to completely different people in an unrelated musical genre.

  20. n.... ....

@0live0wire0 Danny Kirwan is back with his family. He is no longer homeless.

Before discovering FM, I wouldn't have thought it possible for a band to have three of my favourite guitar players all at the same time.

I love the languid expressiveness of Jeremy Spencer's playing. And he has the greatest voice - he sounds so young, naive, and optimistic, even when he's playing these sad blues.

  22. j.... ....

Eran excelentes. Su música permanece. Gracias

  23. F.... ....

While Peter is the superior guitarist, Fleetwood Mac would not be the same without Spencer, bottomline. Sure he did mainly covers and his slide material could get repetitive, but his blues imitations are pretty much unmatched by any other British groups/players. I for one can never get enough of Jeremy Spener and his slide songs.

    F.... ....

His voice has attitude, the kind of stuff you only from the classic blues players like B.B. king live. Great stuff.

  24. m.... ....

Nobody ever put Peter and Jeremy in the same class...that's missing the point. Jeremy himself got such an inferiority complex because of all that and that's one reason he left the band.
I always saw him as much more like Dave Edmunds. They have a similar feel and love for roots rock and neither is really a songwriter. Dave had Nick Lowe and Jeremy had Peter and Danny. Whoever said he just loved playing hit it right on the head. Jeremy was having fun...and it comes through in the music.

    m.... ....

mmandmm9 - you’re completely right. I would also compare Jeremy to Brian Jones’ original intentions as a musician: a passionate love for the existing music he heard and just wanting to make the music and it’s creators known to everyone.

  25. Y.... ....

I love J. Spencer, but sometimes force his voice and not have any type of vibrato and sings flat. With the slide is very influenced by Elmore James. Fleetwood Mac is still the best blues band of all time.

  26. n.... ....

Thats just the way he is.lol
He's really enjoys playing is all.

I do have the outtakes of this track though and when he's talking to the other guys he's serious but in a cool way.

    I should upload them.lol
