I like the Amiga-esque bass line throughout.

This is one of a few other gems i found while listening to the whole album.
Apart from yoshimi pt2. Just...no. Scared the shit out of me while tripping.
Thing is i come from a usually rock background so i was surprisrd i even like the lips.

One More Robot is absolutely one of their best songs. Just sublime

I feel like this is definitely their most lyrically driven album. On The Soft Bulletin and Satellite Heart Wayne mastered the way of capturing raw emotion through vague and simplistic lyrics, which was accompanied by fantastic music arrangements. On Pink Robots they changed to a more direct lyrical approach. Where Wayne had selected very specific, and usually difficult feelings and pursued them. I think what we get in the end is a Lips album that really nails what it was supposed to be. And truly shows their ability to set out and deliver on a conceptual basis across a complete album.

Is anybody else feeling strong Tame Impala vibes? I think that this was very influential for their sound.

Yeah, I suppose man. I could see this album being an influence towards material found on the Lonerism album. But to be fair, Tame Impala have their own sound that kinda I suppose puts them in their own category, just as the Flaming Lips have a sound that puts them in their own category. Probably over analyzing it but yeah, it's whatever you make of it.

Someday soon, if robots don't become our overlords, they're going to become some of our gentlest & most supportive friends.

The last minute of the song is the robot going from just a machine to learning how to have emotions. I don't know if that was obvious but I didn't get it on my first listen.

This song gives me crazy childhood nostalgia but I'm sure I never heard of it back then.

That's because it's not childhood nostalgia - art like this calls to our souls, hearkening from the place we visit in dreams, behind the veil, the source of myth and consciousness
It is a place we are closer to in childhood thus the confusion/reminiscence for such nostalgia

I'm sorry, but do you know what an ignorant ass that comment makes you out to be? Dubstep is a genre, and just like ANY genre has it's share of hits and misses. If you don't like it fine, but to sit there and say there is no good dubstep or that none of the producers who make it are talented or put any of their souls into the tracks they make is bullshit and just plain wrong. From a producer stand point, dubstep is fucking hard to make. Also I know, old comment, but I couldn't help myself here.

I'm assuming you mean objectively good? Like, just well-made music? I mean, you don't really have to look much further than Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. The melody in that song is beautiful, dude. I can understand if you don't like the intense mid-range growl basses and shit, but the actual musicianship behind it is stellar. I'm okay with people saying they don't like dubstep, but saying that it's "a horrible excuse for calling yourself a musician" is, well, wrong.

I have to say the flaming lips is my favorite band, but seriously?? Quit bashing on other genres, I'm so fucking tired of seeing this. I love dubstep, hardstyle, alot of electronic genres, I must say I really, really hate mainstream pop. But damn it's annoying to see people bitching about other genres.

It's like saying people who use photoshop as a medium aren't real artists, some people can do some amazing and incredible things with computer art! :) Or they can change a couple colors and do basic things to a premade image. It's all discerned by who you're talking about!

That's not true, music comes in many different forms, but the talent and creativity to mix a song and use basic dubs to make music people can dance to is NOT something anybody can do. Don't get me wrong, I love a man who can jam on the sax or hit some sweet notes, but you can't say that some DJs aren't musicians. Not all of course don't get me wrong, but there certainly are some.

There shouldn't be a dubstep version of any song. That includes dubstep songs themselves.

@LiNaK37 Yeh, of course they should, that's what I said, unfortunately the majority of the population do not have enough knowledge of music to recognize the pure art these guys produce, that's why we have main stream music, the writers have had to conform to popular models of song writing in order to sell records, flaming lips choose to do what they love whether it's popular in the main stream or not. It's popular enough for them to keep doing it, lucky for us.
