Fixx, The - Woman On A Train Lyrics
Pictures chase across the ceiling
As I try to sleep at night
There's a voice inside my darkness
Laughing at the life I've lost
(She's) no girl on pills in limbo
With her senses sharpened by the warning cold
She brings me to memory
She flashed her lights, her mission bites
She flashed her lights
Across my desert mind (still no change in me)
(She's) no girl on pills in limbo
She's a woman on a train
She's here...
The woman on a train...
And I will speak no words but the truth for her to hear
Hold her close... but never dare
(She's) no girl on pills in limbo
She's a woman on a train
She's here...
She's here...
The woman on a train...
A friend for life, for life and after
Woman on a train...
And I will speak no words but the truth for her to hear
She will speak for us both
She will speak for us all
Till I learn to care...
(Woman on a train)
She'll override my best intention
(Woman on a train)
Attack my weak deception
(Woman on a train)
A friend for life, for life and after
(Woman on a train)
I'll never catch her off her guard
(Woman on a train)

Fixx, The Woman On A Train Comments
One of Fixx best songs ever/
Awesome band and highly under-rated.
Another fantastic English band. Highly underrated. First 4 albums absolutely packed with beautiful music
What a track... What an album...
Not to be confused with throw mama from the train . I swear she slipped officer 😝
Art is a good collision... the chemistry between is to be valued... spirit and balance - timeless.
I always like the Fixx. I still wonder what kind of woman they talking about on the train.
This was on the flipside of a 45 by them. I wouldn't have bought this song for itself
Brilliant song with a stellar performance from all board especially a nod to the rhythm section!
Classic 80's mastery of the genre, The Fixx continues to be one of my faves decade after decade. I love their songs, always making me slide into some mystic dream....from back in the day... ... .. .
should have been big. great albums.
Perfect. I had every word since the first time I heard them in 80s! Had meaning to me and still does!!
Just saw the FIXX after 35 years of waiting to catch a show. Hooked at the age of 10 with One Thing Leads to Another ... and now had the opportunity to see them on the Reach the Beach Tour 2018. Incredible Live performance. Truly nostalgic and they can still bring it! Thank you from USA.
I saw way back and then in a small venue in New Hampshire last month..really great live. Maybe because they are so relaxed and having a good time. Jamie West Oram is unfortunately underrated. The band as a whole is spot on.
EspectAcular tema gracias a YouTube
This band is so intertwined into my early years. Every time I listen I’m traveling time.
Outstanding.............this is one band that has never received the recognition they deeply deserved! One great rock n roll band...........keep the faith FIXX!
Holy SMOKES I loved The Fixx and this song in my twenties. So many great songs!
Awesome song!
Lo máximo YouTube te lo agradezco
wow the fixx ,brilliant ,amazing live sound allso ,one of the best for sure ,my good friand geoffwarburtonof 061 introduced me to this great bandin84
such a genius band. an all time fav for decades.
The fixx is awesome
They called this album Phantoms for a reason.
EPIC!!!
This is such a brilliant piece of work, beyond the best use of percussion I've ever heard.
Went to see one of my favorite bands, with one of my favorite friends,
but didn't get to hear them perform one of my favorite songs last nite :'(
Saw them thrice. First time when they opened for Flock of Seagulls in '83. Second, they opened for Police in late '83. Next they were by themselves in '84. That time, I got a handshake from Cy whilst he sang. The girl next to me, whom I didnt know, grabbed my hand and wouldn't let go and told me how lucky I was. Indeed. Good times.
Good deal muggy - but w/the Police?!?!? killer. I saw the FIXX at PSU in the 80's and because of MTV every girl in jr high / high school attended, screaming at a high pitch, (not as bad as a Beetles performance) and the place had a strange odor of bubblegum! ha ha But the music was good!!! lol
lucky bastard ! :) time machine me back there, please.
I thought the cold war was in the 60's - these guys were as good as Duran and Police - never got the radio airplay in the UK- dj's and playlist experts then were t***ers!!
I thought they were famous in UK, at least on MTV
Some of their songs did get a good deal of play on MTV in the US, thank God.
The Cold War ended in December 1991. I remember it well and I'm 33 born 1985.
captivating ingenious and mysterious! catchy tune one of my faves
1:54 sure sounds like "I will speak not a word... but the truth will enter innnnnn" 2:00 sounds like "one of this one of those, one of them.... never theyyyyyyy"
Cold war music
Very thank you! Peter!
I hear it as a cold war song too—haunted cold war. This one plus "In Suspense."
how so?
Cold war espionage mystique. It can be heard that way, anyhow.
We'll need another cold war to get more music like this again
All these Fixx songs age so gracefully... they are timeless and in the big picture very underappreciated by many who don't particularly like them.... but they would easily make it into my rock hall of fame................
I would say they don't "like" them because they never heard them before on radio. They only like what they're force fed by the radio. I've had people tell me they love this band or that, but the only songs they know of BY that band are those on the radio! If I played them something by the same band, even from the same era of that band's history, they'd say they don't like it!
A guy that co-wrote one of our songs used to go on and on about how he LOVED The Fixx, but no matter what I played for him of theirs FROM the first 2 or 3 albums, he said he didn't like it!! Only one song!! It was either Lost Planes or Cameras In Paris. That was back in the mid `80's! I just saw him again a couple months ago and he STILL only likes that one song, but he LOVES The Fixx!!
Like a fine wine....
Oh, for sure., "Woman", "Are We Ourselves?", "Lost Planes", "Reach The Beach", "Secret Separation", "Sunshine In The Shade", "Liner", "Deeper and Deeper", are all in the top 250 of my '1,000 Songs Ultimate Four-Decade playlist. Possible additions "Cameras In Paris", "Built For The Future". And the band is absolutely a lock for the HOF. But, they still haven't inducted Ian Anderson or Jethro Tull, so there's that.
The Fixx , so wie ich weiss ist der Sänger Rupert Hine , machen geile Mucke kl.aus
+Klaus-Jürgen Fuhrich he was just their producer for some early albums. you may be thinking of 'thinkman' which was a cover group for Hine's own music
Awesome Song. I enjoyed the Fixx since the first started.
if one ever has a chance, give a message to a woman on a train that when starting at point M is going to point M again, beginning at a higher level of comfort.
The syncopation of the bass and bass drum are mesmerizing on this track. A beautifully witten ballad. The 80's had some albums that were spectacular. And undoubtedly, Phantoms by the Fixx, was one of them. ★★★★★
Absolutely, it was a relatively undiscovered jem. I played out my vinyl copy
Thanks, Bruce. So kind of you. As the years go by so fast.
More cowbell please !!!!
I read the comments here.
The song ' are we ourselves ?'
is what I sing now and for obvious reason.
FIXX was a Sci-fi band that stumbled onto how artificial intelligence (Algorithms) will manipulate.
@Bruce Norris ? (up there) ^
Brings back Memories of Home
You are dead right there. So underplayed but so brilliant. Unique sound and they can really kick as well.
Thanks for uploading this track, I have always loved the fixx and this song and sound brings back memories to me as a young lad going to London by my self in a train just like this..
You know today music is crap. Fixx is great.
Even their deep cuts are pure art. Why can't artists today tap into what made the British bands so cool and ecletic. Maybe it's in the beer.
I used to play the game Stellar 7 on my Commodore 64 to this and the rest of the Fix songs.
So nostalgic.
I went through a phase of reading Carlos Castaneda with this album. Spooky dreamlike stuff from his fourth book and after.
This song about drugs and cocaine, not a train. I guess.
Still listen to the Phantoms LP -Masterpiece!
Bought the Vinyl at a Time no one would imagine such things as CD´s or Mp3´s....;-)
Were they considered part of the New Wave sound, or was it a few years later?
Most definitely New Wave, in the full and best sense.
Had on Vinyl..... CD Now... All FIXX Vinyl... I have Shuttered Room/Reach the Beach/12in Deeper Deeper. Anyway... Seen LIVE in 82... Great Great' Of Course... ROYAL MANOR , Princeton NJ. Peace Out...
Que rica canción, tiene un tono progresivo , es más se parece mucho una cancion de Pink Floyd que esta en el albun Pic
Thank you, this has been added to a playlist...
antonio adriana potenza courmayeur napoli torino train express
BEAUTIFUL DIFFERENCES OF HARMONY AND CHANGE ON A CLEAR PAIR OF STEREO SPEAKER TOWERS....GET THE FIXX !
@jimascia Rupert Hine: THINKMAN!!!
Phantoms is a masterpiece! People are missing out on great music if they haven`t experienced The Fixx.
here... New York Central 4-4-2 #999? Breaking the 100mph mark by 1920.
I used to play a crazy tank game like battlezone on my Sinclair 2068 computer while i listened to "Phantoms"
Thanks for bringing back my childhood.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This album should have made them, very deep well written and sound musicaly
Things change quick in music.
A shame don't want to see them at some dam shitty Casino.
Or the County Fair.
@n8tureboy - Hi my friend. The name Rupert Hine now rings a bell as I have most of the Fixx albums from the 80's and remember his name as producer. Do you know of any other bands he's produced? Are you a musician as well?
These guys were produced so well. A very crisp sound. Awesome band.
Have this album on tape, but it is sounding its age now :(
You're welcome! I could only find live or re-mastered versions, so I figured I'd upload the album version. I really dig this track a lot.
An all time song....This was the leading song back in the day....
