The first time I heard this song it hit home not only for me but a generation. I was a teenager consumed with darkness and uncertainty in life. I was really lost at the time and the haunting sound and lyrics of "Stand or Fall" spoke to how I was feeling about the world. My generation was fearing world destruction due nuclear weapons. It is ironic that the lyrics that spoke to the fears of a young generation in the early 80's are once again applicable today. Only now, it isn't only nuclear threats we face that can destroy the human race and our planet.

OK I thought this was the coolest thing on Earth back in 83 but @ 1:03-1:05 --- LMAO! That's bad. This man needed the long hair.

The editing on this video always bothered me. When the shots change during a jump cut, the last frame from the previous shot rises slightly. This made the video look amateurish to me. I still love the song though.

The beginning of this song does something to me that I can't explain. A certain longing, and intense emotion that travels to my throat. I instantly recall a specific Saturday in March 1983. I was a fourteen year old, and on this brisk, overcast and drizzly day, much like the weather in the video. My three friends and I gathered our gear and went fishing at Tippins Pond in Pennsauken, NJ. After, we went to my house where my mom made us soup and sandwiches. Later that night, we scored some beer from my older cousin and had a small gathering with some girls by the trestle. Funny, because I couldn't;'t stand this video but now I can't get enough of it.

...it's funny you would admit that...cause I didn't care to much for the 1980's music...but now I find they are the BEST DECADE OF ALL MUSIC ERA'S....I guess that's what age does to you when you get older and hopefully wiser...you start appreciating the past more...

In 93 as in ninety three I was in college a few years. I had a kenwood stereo and 200 watt cerwin Vegas speakers. I would turn this up in the springtimewith windows open about as loud as I thought I could get away with. I still love it now reminds me of being in like 6th grade and like 16th grade.

As a metal head, both literal and figurative, I was brought out of the mentality and exposed to icons of the new wave by my true friends. This band opened my eyes and mind and are to me, a new wave Rush. They are my goto comfort and have haunting presence that took me through some very storied and scary times. They are a great group. They write the music that other people sample and scratch records to. The Fixx are accomplished musicians. They are a dying breed. The people today are too lazy to learn how to play instruments so they copy others. It is sad what passes for music now.

They rarely played it here in my area of central Florida in the 80s And never heard it in the 90s unfortunately. But I did discover it on MTV and remember sitting on the floor in front of the old tv set probably in the 6th grade watching it mesmerized!
