The part at 1:37 gets me everytime for some reason.

Same. For me at least, I think it's because the part where he says "you can all sleep sound tonight, I'm not crazy, or anything" rings so true. Superman could literally kill everyone if he wanted to, or if he was crazy, but everyone can sleep sound purely because of his benevolence to let them live in peace and safety. I think when taken together with the song's overall metaphor about a person everyone else depends on but who never outwrdly shows any weakness, this part is about how the only reason all these people can sleep soundly without a care is because this person they depend on chooses to let them rely on him/her. If they simply changed their mind they could leave them all and probably be better off, but they don't do that because they choose to look after them instead, even at great personal expense.

Not just the lyrics though, the instrumental part/his voice is intense at this part of the song.
