Our daughter, Rachel Payne, has produced a musical song cycle based upon letters to and from military families during the wars and conflicts. You can see and hear it here: ANTHEM: An original Musical Song Cycle She hopes to have it played in theaters large and small this year, to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the writing of The Star-Spangled Banner. My favorite is sung by Amanda Van Orden, and is called, "The Brave." Rachel sings one about a very short-sighted and shallow woman, and it's called, "Missing Pieces." Song cycles are unusual art forms, that take a theme and weave it into songs that repeat a common thread. In these, part of our national anthem is woven into each piece. This honestly might be the most heartfelt song I've ever heard - it's just so...pure. You can feel the emotion in it, almost tangible. It's not a song to try and be more famous - it's a song to say thank you. Five For Fighting never ceases to amaze me. SMILES!!!

I volunteer at a nursing home & there's this gentleman named Gabriel who served in Vietnam. he's the sweetest, most charming man I've met. I smuggle in beers, we watch Jimmy Stewart movies, & he tells me stories. the other day as I was leaving, he took my hand & said 'thank you so much for coming. you are just like my old girlfriend, you could be her actually. she died while I was serving, & I'm so glad God let me see her again.' this song makes me think of him. Gabe you are my hero.

I worked at an elderly people's home for a little while. I cared for a lovely, sweet man called Sam, who used to be a soldier and had medals for bravery. He died soon after I left. This song makes me think of him.

A special thanx goes to my Legacy Vets Brothers brother, Trond Bolle, one of the norwegian armys finest, who lost his life in Afghanistan in the end of June 2010. We will never forget!!
