Fitzgerald, Ella - What's New? Lyrics

What's new?
How is the world treating you?
You haven't changed a bit
Handsome as ever I must admit

What's new?
How did that romance come through?
We haven't met since then
Gee but it's nice to see you again

What's new?
Probably I'm boring you
But seeing you is grand
And you were sweet to offer your hand

I understand Adieu
Pardon my asking what's new
Of course you couldn't know
I haven't changed
I still love you so

What's new?
How is the world treating you?
You haven't changed a bit
Handsome as ever I must admit
But how can you know I love you so?

2:41 This is Ella Fitzgerald, in a breath, her breath.

Ella's is Surpurb. Love the way she does this song. Love her voice and transitions (vocalizations). Fantastic.
However, the transitions or vocalizations as great as they are. And as an intergral part of singing jazz. Takes away from the emotion of the song.
Still love her. And would pick her as a voice teacher any day.
Guess there are different types of singing. Ways a song is presented. Depending what your objective is.. I see this as a bit more dramatic and serious. But she is Ella Fiz is Grand.

DEFINATELY that, "jan" -- we concur!

A fantastic arrangement, Ella's musicianship is unsurpassed, her vocal control and improvisation are timeless.

I've just about heard them all, and, as a musician myself,  I have my favorites, but over all, Ella's talent, in so many ways, is nearly impossible to surpass!  This orchestra is superb also.  Ella, "First Lady of Song," "Queen of the Ballads" and more titles but all indicating she's one of a kind, inimitable Ella, as about as great as it can get.

Let me be the first to say on this page:  She is quite sublime.  There's Sarah, there's Mildred, there's Carmen and Billie and Anita and a slew of others and they are all quite unique and I don't love one more than the other.  I could listen to Ella and be happy all day long.

    Anita O'Day, yes, yes, YES!!!
