Fishbone - When Problems Arise Lyrics
There is no mystery
For what I try to be
...a reason for the things I do
I try to tell you what
Is really false or real But --
You act this way when problems arise
You act this way when problems arise
You close your eyes and hide
Behind a storybook
When I have something new to tell
If you could put aside
Your stubborn foolish pride
You'd find an exit from this spell
You act this way when problems arise
You act this way when problems arise
What you are -- I don't know what
What you are -- Pain in the butt
What you are no one seems to care
Why do you always do that?
Why do you always do that?
Why do you always do that?
Why do you always do that!?!
You act this way when problems arise
You act this way when problems arise

Fishbone When Problems Arise Comments
The youthfully spastic reactions of the lead singer are brilliantly juxtaposed against the feminine undulations of the hula dancers... Goodness! Such whimsical fun! I quite love it! (...hic!...)
From a cultural, musical, influential, utterly original and live performance perspective, Fishbone at their peak were untouchable! I can't think that history will ever see a group of guys coming out of South Central LA writing and performing music like this... that fuses so many genres so well and mixes humour with social commentary. These guys are definitely the most unsung and underrated band to come out of the 80's and 90's LA scene. They changed the game for me and were a gateway to investigating many different genres of music.
Fishbone is just what I needed in my life right now. Musical phenoms with jams that just carry me/you/one away.
Man saw them during the Give a Monkey a Brain tour. Right before they imploded. One of the best shows I ever saw. Kinda sucks they never had that break through hit. I will say it's never too late. Keep grinding brothers!!!
Fishbone ! shhh ! they knew before most do. FISHBONE !!!
Their first two record labels failed them miserably. They were marketed to the white alternative crowd for the most part - to RHCP's fans. They should have gone after the same market as Prince. They had the talent and songs to be mainstream radio stars.
Love this band!!❤❤👍👍
This totally fucking rocks!
After all these years, this still sounds funky, and at 51 it still makes me want to swim in the pit, lol, yeah right.....😂
Best band EVER!
wonderful young men,
All you Fishbone fans were the Greatest Generation! Next is Generation Z, the last Generation. The last to know anything.
ANGELO MOORE EL VOCALISTA MAS CARISMATICO QUE CONOZCO
Angelo is probably the best/most natural frontman, ever. Every frame of him in any of their vids is must-watch, he's amazing live, and his vocals fit just about any style and are just plain cool. Dude pretty much *defines* what it means to be a great frontman.
I had a chance to met Angelo and Fish in Melbourne 1993 ?
No doubt. It's such a shame his personality also grated on the rest of the band the way it did. But that's the story of talent all too often, what makes them great is what limits them.
If fishbone would have gotten famous today they would be huge. They were just too far ahead of their time.
So weird. So brilliant. So good.
I consider this the best Fishbone video
still have my shirt from truth and soul just red and yellow.
Saw these guys a million times and ran into them all over the valley ! BEST LIVE BAND EVER ! I got some pics to prove it !
What a great song, and what an interesting video.
If Slightly Stoopid loves him..then I love him too!!!
Perhaps not their best song. But possibly their best video.
Duck yeah
I wonder what was going on in those hula dancer's minds at the moment lol
para mi las mejores bandas del rock afro mas representativo son Fishbone, Bad Brains y Living Colurs
That was interesting, my brain said hey go listen to some fish bone and you know what my brain was right God that tasted good yummy yummy. I forgot how good those guys were
Last 2 Fishbone releases are kind of a letdown. Please get back to Nuttwerx era or something. You deserve to be awesome again.
This video is so good it makes me cry
Criminally underrated band!
The video is really weird, the way the Vahines are dancing in sync with the rythm. And that cool solo should have been longer at the end, it's really offbeat in an awesome way.
Kendall Jones is so fuckin underrated as a guitarist...
A classic! Fishbone is truly unique and stands apart from the rest
Man, I should've started listening to Fishbone years ago. i started listening to them earlier today out of curiosity. I'm really glad I did. Even though I've been missing out on some awesome music, at least I listen to them here on Youtube.
Awesome song
Ending is brilliant.
What are you doing? They're playing your town soon. Go see them!
its from an album. called. in your. face that was. released in 86
So fun seeing them live, even in recent years!
fuck you vevo.
I love that song
AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL THE BEST AT WHAT THEY DO.
these breakdowns are brilliant.
Why do you always do that

THE LEGACY OF THE REPUBLIC IS NOMINE OF SATANAS
I want too, but I just can get to grips with this band! its almost like I found them too late to understand them
i thought they were stupid and corny as a child in the 90's too me later in my adulthood which is now to appreciate them. at the time i felt they were too energized and too over the top, which i didnt realize adds a lot to preforming live. they are old men now and are deprive of this energy, especially live now.
@Mr DeSilva I see great musicianship and I keep coming back just I can fit them in my head! If that makes sense! I do feel an automatic respect for them tho
I felt the same way in the 90s, which looking back was actually a pretty dark time musically, what with gangster rap and metal becoming so mainstream, grunge too. So a happy band like this was kinda out of place at that time. They had a great idea with the Funk Punk style they created, though I think punk and funk fans each felt a bit weirded out by them, which I think is actually a great accomplishment! I actually forgot about them until a year or so ago, but they are great all around, both creatively and technically, and they had a great message. True rebels and individuals.
love those dancers with there hipp swing skills 😍.
i don't get it some of fishbone songs have few views and some others more than 200 000, there's some who deserve so much recognition un my eyes
one of the all time coolest and most talented bands of my generation. Why they never made millions sucks. Blame the monkeys as usual. Fishbone, if you read this, Thank you for giving your SOUL to us. We LOVE YOU. Keep ROCKING!
Good documentary about them on Netflix. Basically at first, they wanted to stay underground but later were hoping for hits. Because they couldn't be deftly fit into one musical category they didn't sell well. But you are right, they should be multi-millionaires by now like their counterparts RHCP.
@ Jason Park: yes, Yes, YES to all of that!
it also seems like their record company also owns their masters, so im pretty sure they do not make a single cent except for the money on the crazy glue album and beyond. its a really sad thing to see.
fishbone and bad brains , when I think of high energy combined with great song writing these guys come to mind .
Duan Torruellas BOTH BANDS THE BAD BRAINS, FISHBONE,AND, THEIR MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE, I WOULD BE IN PRISON OR DEAD,IF NOT FOR THEIR BROTHERHOOD, AND, MUSIC!!!}}})°>

the bass here.. WOW!
mike patton comes to mind?
I have alwyas wanted to learn this song on bass, what the hell am I waiting for.
You can here their sound, style in RHCP's music. Very influential band.
@***** they were playing gigs in early 80s and were friends with rhcp. Listen to bassline and watch antics.
Dont just use Wikipedia
@***** I used to be a massive Chilis fan, Flea has said in interviews
Fishbone has influenced him and the band a lot. They can play with each other in the same era and take influences from each other, that's what musicians do!
Stan B FISHBONE IS RED HOT,THAT OTHER BAND OWES THEIR ALL TO THE ONLY ANTIDOTE HUMANITY WILL EVER KNOW, FISHBONE!!!}}})°>

Fishbone is one of the most talented, underrated bands of all time. We're so lucky to know of them.
What EP of theirs is this from? Never heard this one. I need to get back to replacing the music I had by them and lost over the years! I still have two of their CDs,though.
@Kirk Wood "In Your Face" is the name of the album. Personally it sounds better if side two and one were reversed...starting at side two. It sounds more consistent.
I second that
very artistic
fishbone has a documentary out, everyone check it out. Search for it, I know its on STARZ for sure
it's called Everyday Sunshine
Cool! Are the red hot chili peppers in it?
Why do you always do that?
@tgtrout pain in the butt!
this was so freakin awesome on every level. def born in the wrong decade xD
11 people dont know how to act when problems arise
Now at 29
@Phrenotopia 46. smdh...
The song and Fishbone are epic! The video... meh. Still gets a thumbs up, of course! I have many a fond memory of some of the greatest shows this planet has ever born witness to.
22 was lovely...
nothing better than a band who knows how to have a good time and get down.
Fishbone don't get the props they deserve.
I've been sent (and signed/added my name) to a petition on facebook-to get Fishbone inducted into "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" about every year for the last couple years. It would sure be helpful to get more people's views support, It would especially help to please spread the word that there is a petition and to sign it! Be awesome to inject fresh energy and momentum to help to finally get Fishbone where they belong!!!
From 2:59 and on...I really like it.
Ahhhhhhhh..........digging around and finding straight gold!
These guys are wonderful fucking showmen. It's rare, to me, to see bands that actually seem to enjoy performing.. then again, it's rare to see real bands, too.
mike Watt is the daddy of bass !!
yeah and Mike Watt of Firehose. Check out song, Chemical Wire.
flea took so much from norwood
Ha! He really did! "Dirty" Walt and Kendal did it! Norwood is a maniac!
I'm still wondering what's going on with Norwood's do...
Did he shave it to pattern male pattern baldness?
Seeing the substantial lock he has protruding from his skull today.. I'm curious.
Hilarious, never-the-less.
80s classic
Norwood Fisher Underrated Bass
Saw these dudes on tour when they took the funky metal band, "Snot", and "Dubwar", out on tour !! Crazy combination of bands, but it was awesome !!
The GREATEST band. You MUST own their entire library. I applaud Angelo Moore & Norwood Fisher for never quittting.
Saw them in Dallas Texas in the early 90's...
Lucky bastard!!!
Great song, GREAT BAND!!!
Saw them a few weeks ago, and I honestly believe that they sound even better now than they did 20 years ago when I was in college, and they still have all the stage presence. Won't ever miss them again!
One of the best live bands ever!
:31-:35 i've seen anthony kiedis do this exact same move...now i know where he got it from
This reminds me quite a bit of Oingo Boingo.
No need to f*%k the peppers, they have had their share already. Fishbone should have been as popular as RHCP or even more popular.
Hahaha! Love it! I'm Watching Jimmy Kimbell w/Fishbone unique talent! <3 :)
Good Times!!
