Fishbone - Ma And Pa Lyrics

There once was a Ma that wanted her
There once was a Pa that wanted her
I know she's confused,
she's my blood sister
She told me the blues as she start to shiver
Only a child in the middle of a war
She's a problem child now because of a divorce
Hey Ma and Pa
What the hell is wrong with ya'll
Hey Ma and Pa
What the hell is wrong with ya'll
Well there's a lot of money
For all the attorneys
It's just not a fight for child custody.
'Cause Ma and Pa's revenge
Is making little sister bleed
Fussin' and fightin' through a family life
Make her wanna take drugs and be out of line
Hey Ma and Pa
What the hell is wrong with ya'll
Hey Ma and Pa
What the hell is wrong with ya'll
Fighting for love on an angel's feather
Why don't ya'll get your shit together
Well it's three the hard way
Doin' it the wrong way
Ma hates Pa, Pa hates Ma
Little sister say,
"What the hey!"
Well there's an evil streak there
With a righteous leak I fear
That's why a child goes stray
To live a life another day
Mom and Pop in a family fury
Brother tried to say
"Little sister, don't worry."
Hey Ma and Pa
What the hell's wrong with ya'll
Hey Ma and Pa
Why'd the family rise and fall
Why don't you get your shit together

  17. C.... ....

Hey Angelo, I still remember when you came in to talk to your mom's English class in 1999 or 2000 (can't remember), I was one of the punk kids with The Exploited shirt in class. I still remember you giving that girl the tickets to the No Doubt show, who she also inspired me to get into music as well, since she was a drummer in the high school band. You influenced me to get more into music and I started my own hardcore band in 2004 (Fed Up, now defunct). Love Fishbone and everything you've done for the music scene here in Los Angeles. You're a great inspiration Angelo, appreciate you so much.

    C.... ....

Angelos dad was the speech counselor at my high school (Birmingham) so Angelo was on campus sometimes... One day I saw him and he was wearing his top hat, cane, marijuana suit, boots... the usual... and I invited him to come with me to my drama class and do his poetry... it was the best day ever and the look on my drama teachers face... priceless!

    C.... ....

@Jonnie Rosen That's really cool, Angelo is a great guy. I can only imagine what he read in your teachers class lol. His mom was my English teacher at Reseda High School, just down the street from Birmingham. I would see Angelo all the time, really nice person. Miss those days.

  18. M.... M....

My first feeling is being sorry cause theyre not famous enough, then i see your comment.
I dont know... I think good stuff should be well known. I listen to this band with my 7yo son, cause i feel its cool and full of influence.
I think todays music helps people become even more dumb and this kind of music or any other rich-like things like that should not be underground.

  19. J.... B....

    Thanks Mos Def

  48. Y.... M....

Ugh I LOVE it. I'm from Australia and found Fishbone in the 90's. That's when I finally found what was missing in music for me.

  57. B.... M....

Thrilled I got to see them in NYC in 1990? (somewhere between 89-91 :-) Amazing!

  58. t.... n....

HEY FISHBONE PLEASE PRODUCE A STAGE MUSICAL BASED ON THESE SONGS. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW JUSTIFIED YOU WOULD BE.

  59. Z.... Z....

This is a band's band. They're the real deal. Everyone complaining they're not famous enough. Fame ain't nothing compared to doing it your own way and doing it well. They're still doing it. Go see them. They'll kick your young ass.

    Z.... Z....

Saw them over the weekend. Can confirm Angelo and Norwood haven't lost any steam

    Z.... Z....

I place Fishbone in the same influence platform for more mainstream bands, aside with Fugazi, Bad Brains and Sublime
    Just the real underground deal

    Z.... Z....

God damn right! I saw them back in the 90's and they kick the shit out of Punk/Ska music!!

    Z.... Z....

    Let 'em knaw Braw

    Z.... Z....

This line of yours is SO GOOD I just have to quote it: "Fame ain't nothing compared to doing it your own way and doing it well" 👍🏼

  60. J.... D....

65 people wouldn't know good music if it fucked them in the ass

  61. P.... E....

My life long favorite band of all times,

  62. X.... ....

as a hardcore rock fan. i honestly dont think these guys are rock and roll artist. i gave this band a chance. and im not a fan. sorry fishbone.

    X.... ....

    I'm sure they are devastated

  63. I.... T....

I'm hip to these guys but black radio won't play their.Only the shit and these watered down r and b.

  64. S.... J....

Best band of all time. Saw them several times in the 80's. Ska, Metal, Alternative, Funk geniuses. They started so much and so many bands copied them, but they never hit it really big as they should have.... perhaps because they were far ahead of their time. Truly an original inspiration. Love them.

  65. D.... B....

I just scored tickets to see them and The Specials!!!!!!!

  66. B.... t....

You are awesome Angelo! nice job at the concert at the house of indpendence

  67. F.... a....

Trumpet sound disturbs me. I like saxophone better.

  68. F.... D....

growing up my older brothers listened to fishbone all the time, and that's what led me here,I've never been to a fishbone show i bet there a blast.

  69. r.... ....

remember seeing them open for primus. Dude stage-dived and I could make out his terrified expression as I moved away instead of putting hands up

  70. S.... A....

    These guys are soooooooooooooo original.

  71. o.... ....

.....I refer to this as, 'Blood, Sweat And SKA" - somewhere, labelmate David Clayton Thomas did a double-take when he heard this.....

    o.... ....

    ....."Question Of Life", DITTO.....

  72. p.... ....

This is so good. How were they not more popular?

  73. Z.... M....

    These guys are amazing

    Z.... M....

don`t freak out I reply to random people. yeah these guys are from the future when all humans are enlightened. I had some crazy nightmares about the singer Angelo Moore when I was in my twennies in the early nineties. Who is your favourite modern music ?

  74. b.... ....

I have this on vinyl - love, love, love Fishbone

  75. N.... ....

This is TOTALLY like early Mr. Bungle lol. Awesome band!

    N.... ....

as patton say in one interview they were just trying to imitate fishbone.

    N.... ....

Fishbone is better than Mr Bungle although I like both

    N.... ....

Charles Willis as the son of Chris Dowd I know they are still about.

    N.... ....

*literally as far away from Mr Bungle as you can get*

    N.... ....

@jjwp 1988 listen to this song and then listen to "Carousel". There ARE too much similarities to ignore, man.

  76. C.... M....

They playing tonight in Denver, Colorado at Cervantes - Respect!

  77. J.... G....

43 people at the current count need to get their hearing checked.

  78. S.... D....

    Ruziz qrokzn iq zaak.

  79. M.... N....

Saw these guys in March, 1994, at a club bar in Indianapolis called The Vogue. Incredible show. During the solo on this one, Angelo started jumping around and shouting, "I'm coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs! I'm COO-KOO for COCOA PUFFS!!!" LOL!

The opening acts were a miss, though. Biohazard, and some act I forget entirely.

    M.... N....

Seriously, Biohazard was a miss?! Please elaborate. Fishbone had a great relationship with NYHC. I will admit that Biohazard opening for Fishbone could be a little... jarring haha

    M.... N....

@Swiatek702 Oh, sorry dude.  I was _really_ clumsy in my wording in the OP.   What I meant to say was that I missed their acts entirely.

Me and my buddies had dinner and some beers at another pub, and tjem got stuck in traffic on the way to the show.  Fishbone had already taken the stage by the time we got there!

    M.... N....

+TypicalJAFO Well at least you made it for Fishbone! Sounds like a killer show

    M.... N....

    +Swiatek702
OG Fishbone since seeing them and Murphy's Law support the Beastie Boys at the Paramount Theater, Seattle, Jan. 1987.

  80. J.... B....

The best thing about this band is that they were from los Angels where rap was the big thing there, but they totally went against that and went punk! Fucking awesome

    J.... B....

    Dragon Tamer lol you're confused

    J.... B....

They played both ska and punk... and metal, and funk, and loads of stuff.

    J.... B....

Actually he isn't confused at all. While most of their more popular tracks trended ska, they literally played a hodgepodge of most everything. Ska, punk, funk, metal, soul and they have always done them all extremely well.

Best live act of all time in my opinion having seen them five times dating back to 1993, most recently last November.

    J.... B....

Jenna Gass he has his dates wrong. These guys were performing BEFORE rap became fully popularized in Los Angeles. When they came out funk acts like Parliament Funkadelic, Roger n Zapp, The Gap Band, etc were big in the black community moreso than rap was. They were still unique as far as black bands go tho...

    J.... B....

What a racist statement, bro. Geez...

  81. E.... M....

    sounds good

  82. T.... ....

Holy damn the singer is insanly cool :D

    T.... ....

Angelo Moore is indeed awesome. They are all great guys actually.

    T.... ....

    Yes angilo is

  83. L.... B....

    STILL SO GOOOOOOOD!!!

  84. C.... ....

    GREAT SONG!

  85. G.... D....

    Aways and still excellent!

  86. S.... H....

One of thee BEST LIVE bands to see in the 1980's..., bar none!!!!

    S.... H....

    Or 90s, or early 2000s

    S.... H....

+Liquidmice9 That would have been the Beasties/Fisbone/Murphies Law tour? I was an ignorant skinhead back then. ML & Fishbone? yes please. But that rap crap? Hell naw! Stupid me.

    S.... H....

    +Swiatek702
That is correct. I caught that lineup in Seattle in January of '87. Your loss, bud.

    S.... H....

    The 90's too!

    S.... H....

I saw them on this tour London Kentish Town January 89.Best concert I have ever been to.

  87. D.... C....

first heard this on the johnny walker stereo sequence on Good old bbc radio 1 when it was released . bloody brilliant & hadn't heard it for ages. nice one.!

  89. D.... D....

    Oi ! I LOve this SOng !

  90. C.... .....

    my favorite fishbone!

  91. O.... A....

"Hey ma and pa what the hell is wrong with yall!?!" I'll tell you. Your obsolete. Your time has time come and gone. The future rests with us and our children. We are obsolete as I speak.

  92. S.... T....

Muy feliz cuando vinieron a Colombia creo que fui el unico rude boy borracho que gritaba en el simon bolivar , que grandes !!! fishbone  un espectaculo en vivo su musica me da energia para seguir , ONE STEP BEYOND

  93. P.... C....

Better version than the one on the album!

  94. n.... m....

still reh hot and funky ,a la vie a la mort ces gars

  95. M.... H....

I just found about this band last week after watching a documentary. Very different styles they play not sure if you're going to get Ska or metal, lol.

  96. K.... T....

3rd wave ska at its greatest.

  97. R.... J....

Fishbone set the seen for trash music just right and the sound is to mush and set the mood swings for all kinds of weather.
