my dad is like the dad they sing about. He doesnt know english well, grew up with german as his frist foreign language (Dutch). Point being he loves this song yet in real life he avoids this subject. It is those little things you know.

Hey Angelo, I still remember when you came in to talk to your mom's English class in 1999 or 2000 (can't remember), I was one of the punk kids with The Exploited shirt in class. I still remember you giving that girl the tickets to the No Doubt show, who she also inspired me to get into music as well, since she was a drummer in the high school band. You influenced me to get more into music and I started my own hardcore band in 2004 (Fed Up, now defunct). Love Fishbone and everything you've done for the music scene here in Los Angeles. You're a great inspiration Angelo, appreciate you so much.

Angelos dad was the speech counselor at my high school (Birmingham) so Angelo was on campus sometimes... One day I saw him and he was wearing his top hat, cane, marijuana suit, boots... the usual... and I invited him to come with me to my drama class and do his poetry... it was the best day ever and the look on my drama teachers face... priceless!

@Jonnie Rosen That's really cool, Angelo is a great guy. I can only imagine what he read in your teachers class lol. His mom was my English teacher at Reseda High School, just down the street from Birmingham. I would see Angelo all the time, really nice person. Miss those days.

I dont know... I think good stuff should be well known. I listen to this band with my 7yo son, cause i feel its cool and full of influence.
I think todays music helps people become even more dumb and this kind of music or any other rich-like things like that should not be underground.

Best band of all time. Saw them several times in the 80's. Ska, Metal, Alternative, Funk geniuses. They started so much and so many bands copied them, but they never hit it really big as they should have.... perhaps because they were far ahead of their time. Truly an original inspiration. Love them.

Saw these guys in March, 1994, at a club bar in Indianapolis called The Vogue. Incredible show. During the solo on this one, Angelo started jumping around and shouting, "I'm coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs! I'm COO-KOO for COCOA PUFFS!!!" LOL!

The opening acts were a miss, though. Biohazard, and some act I forget entirely.

Seriously, Biohazard was a miss?! Please elaborate. Fishbone had a great relationship with NYHC. I will admit that Biohazard opening for Fishbone could be a little... jarring haha

Me and my buddies had dinner and some beers at another pub, and tjem got stuck in traffic on the way to the show.  Fishbone had already taken the stage by the time we got there!

The best thing about this band is that they were from los Angels where rap was the big thing there, but they totally went against that and went punk! Fucking awesome

They played both ska and punk... and metal, and funk, and loads of stuff.

Actually he isn't confused at all. While most of their more popular tracks trended ska, they literally played a hodgepodge of most everything. Ska, punk, funk, metal, soul and they have always done them all extremely well.

Best live act of all time in my opinion having seen them five times dating back to 1993, most recently last November.

Jenna Gass he has his dates wrong. These guys were performing BEFORE rap became fully popularized in Los Angeles. When they came out funk acts like Parliament Funkadelic, Roger n Zapp, The Gap Band, etc were big in the black community moreso than rap was. They were still unique as far as black bands go tho...

I just found about this band last week after watching a documentary. Very different styles they play not sure if you're going to get Ska or metal, lol.

3rd wave ska at its greatest. 

Fishbone set the seen for trash music just right and the sound is to mush and set the mood swings for all kinds of weather.
