Ferry, Bryan - This Is Tomorrow Lyrics

Here in the hush of evenin' on a night in June
Overhearin' conversations bayin' at the moon
Suddenly a voice I'm hearin's sweet to my ear
This is tomorrow's callin', wishin' you were here

Layin' in my hotel bedroom, feelin' ceilin' blues
Wall to wall a TV's twitchin', clearly not a muse
Then flashin' through the interference beams a thousand tunes
This is tomorrow callin', what have I to lose?

Truckin' by the railway station, I'm on the road again
Steerin' clear of all temptation unto the point of pain
When steamin' through on cue I hear that wailin' whistle blow
If this is tomorrow callin', oh, what a way to go

Oho

Day to day you live old fashioned, hi-toned, fancy free
A double take, an image-spittin', tailored to a T
While history is tellin' you the same old thing
This is tomorrow callin', let's stick a new oar in

This is tomorrow callin', y'all 'n come on in

    Not a great lip-syncher though...

  2. W.... C....

Great album. The keyboard player looked like my girlfriend.I loved Bryan ferry. Not her, really.

I will die now. Good night.

  3. n.... ....

What a great backing band on this - John Wetton, Chris Spedding, Danny Thompson, and Mel Collins, among others

  4. R.... W....

Wonderful although this is the 'untidiest' I have ever seen Bryan, Im shocked, the shades are cool though. Does anyone else think he look a little like a young Jim Carrey in this lol

  5. D.... C....

    Mr.Cool

  6. a.... b....

  11. F.... N....

Bryan Ferry produced so many great songs and i loved his music BUT i was put off him for years after gping to the worst concert EVER. I wasnt alone in those thoughts. He was actually booed off stage by those in attendance at the end of his concert which was short by concert standards.
I can listen to him now but it took along time to forgive.

  12. P.... J....

The telephone song. I guess we are the tomorrow he was singing about back then. Great time with ELO, Wizard, Bowie, Van.

  13. J.... C....

Fresh now. Always Fresh. This is what's all about. Bryan Ferry classic!

  14. D.... M....

I don’t know why this album isn’t more popular I am obsessed with it!!!!

  15. T.... ....

    Nice Glasses

  16. s.... ....

BACK IN THE DAY I THOUGHT THIS WAS GREAT , BUT I LISTEN TO IT NOW AND IT SOUNDS CRAP , ITS LIKE SINGING WHILE GARLING TO ME . NOT AGED WELL A LOT OF FERRY SONGS ARE LIKE THIS. HIS BEST WHAT STILL HOLDS NOW IN MY OPINION, IS JEALOUS GUY AND HARD RAINS A GONNA FALL THEY ARE TIMELESS

  17. P.... ....

HOW TO DEFEAT LISTERINE across an ocean of fear of pirates,
their pirate wives & blood oaths & hives. Firstly, have a sturdy foot
valve screwed tightly & ready and drain the acid from a boiler after
acid-boiling the stagnant corpse of false prophet Mary Baker Eddy.

  18. A.... C....

I'd had a couple of contemporary records bought for me before this but "In Your Mind" was the first album my 12 year old brain thought "Hey, I like this and I'm going to buy it". And that was on the strength of this song and, specifically, this film clip. Thanks Bryan Ferry for getting me started.

  19. T.... H....

Such a cool guy love Bryan Ferry ,,such a great song xx

  20. M.... C....

    Still listen, tomorrow..

  21. J.... B....

  22. R.... H....

    Soooooooooooooo coooooooooooooool

  23. J.... B....

    This guy is sooooo cool....

  24. P.... ....

1977! I mean it was like he just stepped off his spaceship and you could smell this strange hot new future summer. It's hard to explain how fresh this was in '77. That high reflection and white light burning at the end - it was so crisp it almost crackled. And it's so now. I can remember seeing this for the first time as a little kid and it was like the people of the future had come to get you. Wasn't it wonderful! There should be a Bryan Ferry spirit in every generation - but I don't think there will be any more. Not really - not like that.

  25. P.... ....

That's just too much. I can't take it anymore! Crazy good and delicious. Those shades do things that I can't even talk about.

  26. B.... ....

Video quality look so ahead of time

  27. J.... B....

    Cooler than cool!

  28. K.... O....

How I adore this man ❤💋❤💋❤💋❤

  29. R.... S....

Are those backing singers from Kokomo (I'm Sorry Babe, A Little Bit Further Away)? Guitarist/basist Alan Spenner (Ex -Kokomo) also worked with Roxy Music on their Manifesto-album...

  30. R.... M....

If you are not tapping your toes to this then you are dead

  31. R.... M....

    His Ray Charles period

  32. C.... P....

    Love you Dev and Ellii.

  33. s.... ....

I wish I were 10% as cool as Bryan Ferry. Then I'd be the coolest guy in my neighborhood!

    s.... ....

    Lol 👍🏼

  34. B.... ....

    This is great

  35. T.... ....

In some ways this is one of those perfect rock songs. It's timeless, well written and played and just full of joy and enternainment.
Green River by CCR is another. Of course there are many such songs but I'm having a Bryan Ferry binge.

  36. C.... L....

I was at Sydney Hordern performance in 1978 . Saw Chris Spedding the next day on Gordon Railway station , dressed in his black leathers, chatting up a beautifull young lady at 8am .

  37. b.... ....

i love this song so much. but seeing the video clip.... the whole band looks so depressed lol

  38. K.... K....

John Wetton on bass and Mel Collins on sax. A great combination of musicians!

    K.... K....

Two King Crimson members and one almost-to-be (Ferry himself). Not too shabby!

  39. A.... ....

    _Layin' in my hotel bedroom_
    _Feelin' ceilin' blues._

    I feel I'm stuck on a box.

  40. J.... R....

Definitely one of the coolest song ,videos ever.

  41. B.... W....

Fantastic song, fantastic arrangement and fantastic musicians. RIP John Wetton

  42. A.... A....

Fantastic, I am just imagining all of these talented people trying to get into music now, they would sadly be rejected based on looks.

  43. M.... .....

upload thank you for your kindness(★‿★)❤(。☌ᴗ☌。)

  44. T.... M....

    Pure class

  45. G.... ....

  50. D.... R....

    Chris Spedding!

  51. S.... B....

    *VACCINES...*

*August 2014: Head of C.D.C. admits on C.N.N. that Vaccines can Trigger Autism: Recently Julie Gerberding, the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, appeared on Dr. Sanjay Gupta‘s show **_House Call_** and explained that vaccines can trigger autism in a vulnerable subset of children. This is the claim that many parents have been making since at least the 1980s, and they have been dismissed and even mocked for making it.*

*“Mammography simply joins the long list of therapies and procedures where desire for profits and lowering of world population levels have superseded the welfare of our citizens.” — James Howenstine, M.D.*

*Dr. Harris Coulter: "Vaccination programs were instituted in the late 1930s, and the first handful of autistic babies were noted in the early 1940s. When vaccination programs were expanded after the war, the number of autistic children increased greatly."*

*According to the **_Associated Press,_** Dr. Jonas Salk co-authored a clinical trial that "injected experimental flu vaccine in male patients at a state insane asylum in Ypsilanti, Mich., then exposed them to flu several months later." The victims of this medical experiment were described as "senile and debilitated," meaning that obtaining their rational consent to participate in such experiments would have been impossible. And that means Dr. Jonas Salk -- one of the most highly-worshiped figures throughout modern medicine -- was conducting this trial in violation of medical ethics and in violation of the law.*

  58. T.... B....

    Roxy music at their best

  59. J.... W....

  60. S.... P....

Bryan Ferry, you put a spell on me!!! So fine!

  61. h.... ....

That looks like John Bonham's old drum kit.

    h.... ....

I’m sure I read somewhere that Paul Thompson has a set of John bonhams drums .So he could be playing them.

One of the best guitar solos ever. Chris Spedding's apt and restrained style matched only by Mick Ronson!

    h.... b....

He was good in The Wombles too ;)

  68. D.... ....

    Gotta love a horn section

  69. n.... ....

Beautiful quality film, it looks they shot it yesterday. Thanks for the upload, fantastic video.

  70. g.... c....

    id kill for those sunnys

  71. s.... ....

    Bryan's best solo album IMHO.

    s.... ....

I'd agree with that in so much that they were BFs own songs, not cover versions (the earlier albums were great for different reasons). This particular song is so great because it 'feels like' an older classic - great intro, full horn section, great lead guitar, plus the rest of the band and of course lead and backing vocals.

  72. B.... A....

he Bing, dit is papa calling... and you are tomorrow!!!!! love you man

Love the super casual air from the afro topped keyboardist. She just pulls off this 'Ahh (yawn type) in my own way casual aura - Totally love it and that brass - Oh heck the whole band was cooking, what a rhythm section, great slide work on the V et al all putting Mr (King of Cool) Ferry front and centre !!
And for all you youngsters pulling your hair out at the thought of another piano lesson with old Mrs Gillacutty remember, one day it'll all be worth it, even if it's just to be able to play a Chopin Polonaise for yourself. Keep studying.

    E.... P....
