The entire album sounds like a demo. But the songs are really nice and catchy and dreamy sometimes

This is the first Fear Factory album I ever bought and fell in love with. I learned every song on this album on guitar when I was 15 years old. This album holds a special place in my heart. I fell in love with a bunch of the choruses and such.

Are there differently mixed versions of this album floating around? The mix here sounds better than I remember...

I love those guys. There is at least one song on every album which has the perfect mixture of brutal metal riffs and an epic refrain! <3

I know the album seems inconsistent, compared to their others, but there's not any songs that are bad, really. Just different. This song is king though.

It's a shame it gets swept under the rug with the rest of the album. FF doesn't even offer to sell Transgression or Archetype on their site anymore.

I agree. Transgression and Archetype were good albums, and Christian Olde Wolbers is a talented guitarist. It's a damn shame how fucked up their image of themselves has become. At least they occasionally play Archetype and (last I checked) Cyberwaste these days.

Transgression and Archetype were not well understood when they were released! I always swore by them and think they were onto something pretty cool! Should that lineup had kept going probably they would still be releasing excellent shit. The lineup that followed this phase was also good, with the acclaimed Mechanize. The current line-up is shit; I particularly dislike the new drummer.. He is not well suited to the band

+Bruno Tolosa I was with you all the way until your part about the current line-up. I see this was a year ago though, what did you think about Genexus?

I was a massive fan during the 90s, got Mechanize and loved it, and think Genexus is amazing. I'm now coming back to the band after dismissing them for ages. Still cant get into this album though.
I must say I agree with the drummer comment. This new guy does the typewriter, technical thing which suits recordings better than live. Thats probably a good thing for this band as if we are honest, they are shocking live these days, particularly Burton. The dialled in drums just accentuate the poor live performance imho.
For me, FF need a heavy hitter like Raymond or Gene if only to enhance their live performance. My dream line up would be Burt, Dino, Christian and Raymond OR Gene, though that will never happen. Gene is very dismissive about his time in the band. I'm a big Static X fan too, so it's surprising that I just find Tony in the band pure wrong. Totally wrong playing style for this band.
To me, FF are only good to listen to on record these days. I would suggest they play a lot less, and save their enthusiasm and Burtons voice. I find them very cringeworthy live im sad to say, and I was what you might call a superfan when they first came to the UK. Hate to slag them off, but the truth is the truth.
Get the original line up back, forget the lawsuits etc and have a couple of years pleasing fans at a handful of festivals. That's what I would really like to see.
